Can I exclude buttons on certain pages using social warfare?

Can I exclude buttons on certain pages using social warfare?

asked in
Everything Wordpress

Social Warfare Users - Can I and how do I exclude share buttons on certain pages? For example I don't want these on any of my legal pages e.g Privacy page etc.

Thanks

Not sure if this means anything but I have some pages such as the Privacy page set in full width screen so on those particular pages, my social icons do not show up.

Mine are also set up as full width but the buttons still show but thanks for trying. :)

Darn! What plug in are you using? I am using the Ultimate Social Media one (which does have a few quirks). For instance, I have Instagram as one of my platforms which shows in the settings but not on my website).

Hope you find the answer soon :).

Not sure either Mark. Hope you find your answer. I know there are some social venues I just can't see myself getting on board with. They don't fit what I represent.

Thanks Xavier.

OMG! Am I having a blonde moment? Social Warfare? Is it really called that? LOL

Ha ha yes the plugin name is. :)

Sorry Mark, not got a clue.

Thanks Edwin.

If you choose the setting none/manual placement for pages under display options you can insert share buttons via shortcode on the pages you want.

Thanks Jorn. I'll give the a try.

I am with Steven-A because I am not sure how you would do that but we will wait for the answers to come through

Hi Mary, see Jorn's tip above. The code to us is [social_warfare]

I guess I just did not know what that meant about social_warfare

Nice question,

Thanks.

Haven't a clue, interested in finding out.

See Jorn's reponse.

good question I'll be interested in the responses

Jorn had the best idea although for some reason it displays my icon colors in the theme accent color which I din't want so I've just abandoned the idea for now. Too much else to do. :)

How do I know if my website is really gdpr compliant?

How do I know if my website is really gdpr compliant?

asked in
Everything Wordpress

I have read all of the excellent posts and training here about being GDPR compliant.

I have implemented two actions I believed would be sufficient to be compliant based

at a glance it seems you are not considering double optins and unsubscribe, also unclear if you updated your google analytics, seems you focused on cookies and not the full definition of collecting personal data I'll be doing another blog on this later, but they should put in the picture for starters

I received a Google email that seemed (to this newbie) as though they were keeping us abreast of what is happening.

Did anyone else receive this same email late last week?

they been sending us out a lot of emails that look the same, I did a training and blog on two of them, which one are you referring to, I'll be doing another blog on the others but google actually wants us to take action, they are not looking after things in the background across the board

Hi Mary,

I did do the Google Analytics Accept Amendment Walk Through & a GDPR checklist. Followed your training on that, thanks. I feel like I need some kind of tool that does everything that's required to make a website compliant. According to CookieBot's online compliance checker it is not, despite doing what I thought was required. Thanks for the links. I'll soldier on...

I hope it is okay to share this since we are all in the same boat. This is the beginning of Google's email regarding clearer language
on their Privacy Policy:

"This month, we’re updating our Privacy Policy to make it easier for you to understand what information we collect and why we collect it. We’ve also taken steps to improve our Privacy Checkup and other controls we provide to safeguard your data and protect your privacy.
Nothing is changing about your current settings or how your information is processed. Rather, we’ve improved the way we describe our practices and how we explain the options you have to update, manage, export, and delete your data.
We’re making these updates as new data protection regulations come into effect in the European Union, and we’re taking the opportunity to make improvements for Google users around the world.

Thanks Donna. I have been getting quite a few policy update emails and they all seem to say a very similar thing.

I would like to know the answer to this also.

It's obviously not as straight forward as I thought. One can't do what you think is sufficient as that won't help you if you run into trouble. One has to know for sure and that does not seem to be easy to achieve.

I am not sure on this but I want to see what people have to say.

I want to be compliant of course but I also want to avoid unnecessary action and expense, which I am sure is true for all of us.

So very true. I wish there was an exact answer in black and white no ifs ands or buts!

Slugger you post this to our help area.

Lat's see what the experts recommend Peter.

Sgreed.... That I part of why I s ent you there

Hi Mark
Wow, I would also have thought you have done a great deal... Hmmm... I am also now eager to hear what else needs to be done and to hear more about CookieBot.
Thanks for asking the question Mark! This is what makes this community so amazing.
Sharlee (Chocolate IceCream)

Thanks Sharlee. I am eager to get it right but also not to over do it. :)

Yes, I fully agree with you Mark. I also want to comply, but without all the shiny stuff that every proclaimed (or self-proclaimed) "guru" is trying to peddle in the process, feeding off our eagerness to comply.
Sharlee (Chocolate IceCream)

good question

Hello Mark. I used Loes and MozMary's tutorials. If its good enough for them its good enough for me. I am done thinking about it as I spent a lot of time on this.
Trevor

I have followed those tutorials as well and thought I had implemented what Loes recommends on my website but there seems to be more I am missing. I agree like you that I have spent enough time on this already but when it comes to the law we each have to take full responsibility for what we have or haven't done so I think it's worth checking.

Hey Mark. I also upgraded my privacy policy. There must be an official document somewhere describing the necessary actions. That should be researched.
Trevor

Mark maybe you will find this interesting.

Thanks Trevor. I'll give that a read. Like you I am a bit over how time consuming this is becoming. :)

I am going to follow this as I am curious about the CookieBot.

I hope we all learn more and gets things clarified.

I am a silent interested party. Reason is am less informed in these matters. I am eagerly following your discussions please.

Good idea Kwamina.

I want to know and understand clearly what's all about cookiebot.

Me too James.
