The Super Affiliate Group (SWAG) have been at it for three months now.

The next month's learning and activities is about to be released and like all other members of the group I'm excited to see what's next.

Kyle has asked us to do some self reflection about the last three months first by answering five questions.

Although we're discussing these in a separate SWAG thread I thought I'd cover them in a blog post too as the questions are perfect for anybody to use a reflection exercise, whether you're part of the group or not.

1) How did the first 3 months go?

Have I completed every task 100%? No. Have I made progress? For sure.

One thing I can definitely say, is I've achieved far more than I would ever have done had I not been part of the group. For this I am very grateful.

It's provided me with huge amount of insight, about what it takes to get the momentum going for an online business to take root.

It's no wonder I didn't succeed with previous attempts. The fact is I wasn't working fast enough or hard enough.

I also understand why so many people never get to experience success. They simply don't have an idea of what it takes to get there.

Unless you're able to put yourself under the pressure required to push yourself forward, you'll need some external assistance, like this mentoring group or a coach.

It has been tough and still is but after three months I know what it takes now so I am far more prepared to deal with the discomfort and not give up.

2) What accomplishments, achievements, and business related activities are you proud?

  • My time management skills have improved
  • I'm far more skilled at prioritizing than I used to be
  • I'm far more comfortable being uncomfortable
  • I've created and am developing a brand I'm loving more and more
  • I've published blog posts 2-3 times a week most weeks
  • I'm faster at planning, researching and scoping out blog posts to write
  • My writing's improved
  • I've made great progress in finding 'my voice'
  • I'm happy with the design of my website and how it's developing in alignment with my brand
  • I've started adding videos recently
  • Visitors to my website are increasing each month
  • My bounce rate is low
  • Conversions are not flooding in but the trickle has started

3) Where did you waste time?

  • Sometimes a little too much on design but that's because I enjoyed it
  • The actual writing of posts - I am still too thorough i.e. slow!
  • Resisting areas I'm not comfortable with i.e social media

4) What tasks did you got better with?

  • Keyword and research
  • Defining my audience
  • Writing
  • Creating images
  • Giving and getting comments

5) What can you do better in the next 3 months?

  • Embracing social media more
  • Participating in Chat on WA - I'm still rubbish at this.
  • Get faster at writing posts.

Never give up!

Thanks for sharing these questions, as well as your answers. You are right - these are great questions for anyone to ask themselves.

And yes, being part of a mentoring group is a huge plus if you want to be successful.

Your next 3 months will probably help you make enormous strides. Wishing you all the best!

Thanks Isabella. Yes I think you're right there. If you can build and maintain momentum then between the 4 - 6 months mark you do see more evidence of results for effort.

It's a good move to push me to spend more time to developing more engaging site all would be visitors to include in their list

Thanks for your comment James.

Mark, this really is an excellent post, the things that you highlighted, I could totally empathise with, might not be at your level, but reading posts such as these does help to maintain the momentum.

Thanks Edwin. There is a process involved that requires hard work but it definitely involves time and that's something we can't manipulate or control. I am sure we all experience many of the same insights along the way.

Good Luck,

Thank you Tina. It's definitely possible as long as you keep at it! :)

You have made great progress Mark! Good job!
All the best,
Marcus

Thanks Marcus. It's ongoing but all good so far. :)

Your road looks familiar to me. I too am struggling with Social Media and this thing called videos. I must get better at them and I will.

Thanks Donald. You definitely will if you keep at it. I think we just need to find a social media routine that feels right for us. I am sure we will figure it out. :)

Sounds like you have achieved a great deal and learnt so much. I don’t think many of us realised the amount of work required to be a success.
With Grace and Gratitude
Karen

Thanks Karen. That is so right. None of us really knows what effort is required until you are thrown into it and held accountable. It's the accountability element that makes the difference. If it's too easy to walk away from doing what needs to be done then we sabotage our efforts. :)

I think #3 is a great insight fir me. Firstly you recognized where you wasted your time ie too much design but also you recognised you wasted time by. Not embracing social media and the lost opportunities that come with that.

Great insight Mark. Good luck with next month.

Thanks Glenys. Self reflection is a great learning exercise if you can use what you unearth about your behavior then you can put a plan in place to bring about change.

Thanks for sharing your reflections Mark. Sounds like swag is going really well for you :)

Thanks Mia. Some days it does not feel that way but when I look back over the full time then it definitely is. :)

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Mark! I can find myself in many of your points:)

The most important is you are in good spirit for the next Q:)

Thanks Anton. It's all one very big learning process and you just can't be impatient. :)
