Using WordPress 4.0 to Embed YouTube Videos - NO!
I previously thought that one of the great features of Benny (WordPress 4.0) is the ability to embed YouTube videos. But I discovered that this can lead to a problem with the video being too wide for your theme.
Solution: Go back to the old way of embedding the video (as shown in my earlier post: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/mblack/blog/add-a-youtube-video-to-your-blog-in-8-easy-steps).
When viewed in the Text tab it looks something like this: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/o49ech0FR1U?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Then you can change the height and width to whatever suits your theme. The standard sizes are:
3840 x 2160, 2560 x 1440, 1920 x 1080, 1280 x 720, 854 x 480, 640 x 360 and 426 x 240
My recommendation is 854 x 480 for most themes, but you can experiment with the different sizes and choose the one that fits your theme the best.
Happy blogging.

Thank you Marion. I've been told that it's possible to edit the length of it this way too. I haven't tried yet.
All the best,
Brandon
The reason I am interested in shortening a couple of my videos, is that the manufacturer of the product made them for YouTube and, naturally, included their postal address, website and telephone number in a sign at the end of the video, I want to edit that out so that people have to contact them via my link.
All the best,
Brandon
I've been looking into this for you and I've found a couple of programs that can help. They are both free and, as with all freeware, you need to be careful that you don't install any other programs which may be bundled with them. 'Any Video Converter' will convert any video format to any other video format so you can use this to convert your video to .AVI. Then you can use 'SolveigMM AVI Trimmer + MKV' to crop the end of the video. Just use Google to find the programs. When you are happy with the result you can upload the trimmed video to YouTube.
PLEASE be careful when installing any Freeware programs as so many of them come bundled with extra unwanted programs attached. ~Marion
Hi Marion,
This is very, very kind of you. Thank you very much indeed for your time and trouble.
Have a great weekend!
All the best,
Brandon
You're very welcome, Brandon. I had both of those programs installed on my computer so I just had to find out their names. Have a great weekend too.
Since one of my goals is to make my presence known on youtube, this information is just what I've been looking for. Thank you
Thanks for the good advice, Marion! I've run into this several times on my sites that are not with WA. Now I know what to do!!!
Oh, I can imagine! I've seen sites where everything is overlapping and they don't look too nice or professional.
Taking control of your embeds is always a good choice.
Letting software do it can always result in undesired concequences.
