I'm not talking about filling a page with heaps of affiliate links or banners. But if I put no more than one link or banner to an affiliate on a page or a post, will it affect m

It's time for class!

There are speculations about how this work, but I would be cautious and do things in moderation.

I don't go ahead of lessons on purpose, I'm always behind. But one banner shouldn't hurt I wouldn't think.

I just watched this video yesterday (course 3 lesson 3). This may not be the exact words he used (you can go back to the video) but this is what I recall:

Kyle said that he usually puts affiliate links on the review page. But, he also said he will put an affiliate link at the bottom of the blog that provides the review / educational info (but only one). On the review page, he put 6 affiliate links throughout the page.

He said Google will recognize if you're a bridge site and if this is the case, you don't get ranked. In order to avoid the "bridge site" concept, you place internal links from your info blog to your review page.

As far as exactly how long your site is up before you start adding links? I don't recall exact training on this; if anybody else does I hope they post it here. Then again, I'm just on Course 3, Lesson 4 so perhaps that is yet to come.

Hope this helps and God Bless!
~Cathy

I certainly like the way you broke down the Bridge Site Concept. You made it ever so plain. Thanks. I shall follow.

Thanks for your reply, I have done the training before while doing a previous website, but there's so much information that it's hard to remember all of it.

Isn't that the truth!

It may upset your readers - depends on the niche and the quality of content and therefore increase bounce rates

I remember Jeremy West once saying that when he joined, having previous experience on line, he got ahead of the training and regretted it. That by monetizing and adding too many banners ahead of enough content, hurt his rankings, and recommended that one just follow the training and the order of the lessons, monetizing as Kyle suggest.

Yeah - where's Jeremy? Haven't heard from him in awhile...

WOW! Nice Answers!

My shoe site gets ranked regularly and I always have an affiliate link in there because I'm pushing certain shoes. With that being said, I honestly don't know. I don't see how a well-placed link in decent content can hurt, provided it's one or maybe two at most. My nickel.

If you want to add something relevant.
I would put the link or banner in a side widget.

I don't think that it is best practice. It may depend on the content you have. Is the content really something that is helpful or is it just something to encourage clicking on the link? You can test it and see for yourself.

I was thinking about how to improve the conversion of invited members to premium members. My goal is to help people achieve financial freedom and I believe they need the premium

I'm not far enough along to even think of mentoring anyone. I have no referrals or any money received yet, but I'm being patient and waiting for the progress to begin.
Best wishes,
Phyllis

You have the right attitude, I'm sure success will come soon.

I didn't have any referrals when I first came almost two weeks ago now I do.I haven't been paid for those yet but ways to mentor is just lend a hand welcoming people, help with questions along the way you learned from the reading and videos as you understood it and pass it along to new people or someone struggling to understand the how too of WA or how to make a page where to get the best for less.I found some awesome places but I'm waiting for my approval so I can add the link to my page.

I don't think I would want to be doing anything that seem like we are going up one another, for one this is already a vast amount of reading, studying many people still have outside jobs, college students looking for ways to support themselve while in school or what to do once they do graduate.

Yet we all are looking for ways to gain extra resources to supplment incomes with the economy still lagging. It sounds nice but I got enough on my plate including health, my daughter owns a store, l have a church full time and I would like to see WA stay as a relaxed community like it is and people having fun while they work to meet/exceed their needs/goals.

Challenege ourselves to get to Vegas if people have the sincere desire to go on a all expense paid trip. That is what people have to work toward once they become members. I have people in my network trying to pay for memberships but their country is not on the list.Once we do become full members they already give us free material or excess to things before you are a full member even as a starter member we get so much wealthy nuggets.

The purpose of networking is you have a vast amount of people from all over at various stahes of development ever ready to help lead and guide newcomers as well as ask Kyle/Carson or any Ambassor in their network experienced people we'll always know how to get out the best in our memberships the way it was intended. I love the people I follow and Something I said in my profile or welcome to somebody else got others to follow me they trust me and I want them to know I return that trust. The last thing I wouldn't want to wake up and see is a bunch of of "unfollows"

What did I do or what did I say wrongly? I encourage people let them know its not solely about all about me because we all want the one same common goal "independence from a employer", working the rat race 9-5 job, financial stability and more time to do what we like and when.Extra money to live off especially between paydays. Its not a community of competition against each other its about we're strongest in numbers.

WA has been around over 9 years not because they compete they CREATE wealth by showing the way, leading the way so we'll know the way.I pray I can do the same when those decide to link in our network or follow us and us them or through referrals we gained a new starter just by how we treat others is the same wwe intend to return in like kindness.

I would rather not see it like they have to rush into joining in 7 days because if I had not borrowed the money from my 20 year old son my daughter and I wouldn't have been a member before our first 7 days were up.I was waiting on a check and checking my debit card left and right only to find out it went back to a different account. When I got my money I gave him the $20 back and extra for helping us.

People joined WA because of the help, the warmth of the people here, the tools to help us be a success,I say its a job but free of stress like we would find working for Mr. Boss. Yaya just said to me, Mom what is good about WA is people don't have to worry about if they got the job, go to interviews only to be told they are not qualified. Here everyone qualifies.

Here at WA its suppose to be fredom of every type of life's pressures or stresses. Its okay if we want to share a link, blog on our site.Incorporate a "GUEST" page you can feature a awesome blog or say WA Guest Blogs so others can read why they might like to join our awesome abundant of Networking.

We work for ourselves while being a helping hands as we walk through the steps.WA has been the success it has in my opinion because each and everyone here in one sense we all want freedom from the rat race jobs and this is a quckest away so we have more time to spend doing the things we like, more family time.

yayadee1044~

The common feedback I have received is that the competition idea was a bad one, so that one is shelved :) The idea regarding the 7 days to complete Course 1 of the Getting Started training was giving people the reward for doing the training, whether they signed up to the membership or not. People could gain the reward without ever becoming a premium member. I have had a 50/50 response on this idea so I might give it a go with my new referral to see if it is well received.

The main feedback I have received which I am going to work out a way of doing is that offering to mentor people new to WA is a good idea.

Thanks for your feedback

not a problem, its already enough trying to learn everything here and build professional websites.I still got much to do like find a much better green energy template something on ecology or even energy (savings) If you find any please pass the infor along surely appreciate input.

When you have a big team, and a successful site, and you want to help your downline, why not put out their link on your site to help and create a downline for them? Just an idea...Loes

I wonder if you could embed some of your lovely videos into the automated responses to new members that we set up in the affiliate program section. Perhaps you can create a new welcoming one with your message of mentorship/ idea.
There is also private messaging. Could that be a tool to help your idea along.?

That's a great idea, unfortunately all we can do for the moment is add link. The messaging system here doesn't allow for embedding videos.

I'm pretty sure that Private Messaging is only for Premium members not for new free members.

I think they're good ideas in spirit but I worry about the added burden a mentor would take on. I know I just answer or respond to what few questions I can and it takes time away from what else I could be doing. But share and share alike. The $19 first month was enough incentive to make me join and I paid a yearly membership: you put your money where your mouth is. When things get tough I look for kholmes or lubman or vitally and keep pressing on. I feel your own spirit has to be your driving force. But you're also right about the birds. I wouldn't mind having a mentor, especially as I haven't made a dime yet. But I press on because I believe WA works. Thanks for taking the time to write this and for caring enough to write this.

Being a mentor is definitely an added burden and requires someone who is passionate about helping others succeed. I have that passion, but due to the amount of time and effort required, I will just be offering mentoring to my premium member referrals. (for everyone else I will hopefully be able to help with blogs and training videos) I think that due to having such a good community here at WA, mentoring will just be a case of teaching someone how to find help, answering a few questions and giving them some encouragement and advice.

One incentive might be a boost in rank of X points. I do like the idea of a team with a team coach to help, monitor and encourage newbies. Word of Caution: We recruit people with entrepreneurial spirit. They might not appreciate the implied pressure for a business they are supposed to be running. In truth it's only pressure if a person accepts it. The concept, though well intended, could ultimately destroy the current positive learning and sharing environment. Just another point of view.

I will have to give that some thought, I certainly don't want it to be anything other than positive. I will make the offer of mentoring and only follow through if someone says they want it and the friendly competition idea will be something they can opt into if they want to, otherwise, I will just give my referrals mentoring for as long as they want it.

Great idea, but if I give you idea's I won't have any left for me..Lol.
I mentioned something about hand warmers to someone else, now its there new niche...Lol, what was I thinking.
Good luck, sounds great!
Kim:))

Lol, come on, I shared my idea with you! It's not like I can give gifts to your referrals :)

Well okay! Lol...I have seem some people creating free e-books or downloads to offer, maybe something not on your site already....free is free. I received 6 free e-books one time and it sold me into buying, they were really nice too. I am not that gullible either...well most of the time.

Thank you, great ideas, I will definitely look at using one of them.....with your permission of course :)

Lol, Too funny!

I think those are great ideas!

I was reading in one of Kyle's tutorials that it is important not to approve too many comments that included back links as it will decrease the authority of your site. Does that

Allowing links in comments is like allowing complete strangers to post links to whatever they want. This is not exactly my idea of security and is definitely not what you want. And if the Google fails to notice that the comments are content which was not generated by you, then you will run into big troubles pretty fast.

Generally speaking, everytime you see link in a comment, you want to make sure the link leads to a page which is relevant to the article the comment appears on. Additionally, you want to moderate the comments so they are clean and to the point. If you do that (and you clear anything irrelevant), you could actually boost the authority of that page because you are making the comments useful to your readers by keeping them clean and to the point.

Also I would consider adding CAPTCHA to deter spambots. Most of the spam (more than 99%) in the blog comments are generated by spambots and if you use a CAPTCHA, you will get rid of almost all of the spam.

Essentially, treat the comments as an extension to the content you placed on the page. If you have great comments, people will notice that. And I believe that Google will notice that also.

Kyle is right, now the problems after the Panda and Penguin algorithm updates is that it is very important to get better rankings and yet while not getting penalized.

I understand Google is now penalizing pages and entire sites for people trying to build low-quality links such as forum profile links and like blog comments.

We should build MANY low-competition 4-5 phrase keywords especially SEO backlinks from diiferent and various high page-rank sources to our webpages.

Each and every web internal page in yr website is considered a website url in itself in Google's eyes.

SEO backlinks will look like this :

keywords to rank in search engine

This question is returning a gold mine of information! Thank you for your great contribution!

I know that it's good to link different posts within your own website.

The reason you don't want the links in the comments is a) people are leaving your site to follow them and there's no benefit to you and b) most often those comments are spam.

Links in your own post, as long as they are interspersed with quality content, should actually help you because they can lead to backlinks, which Google is fond of. Or that's how I understand it. But in any case, links in your content are fine.

Thank you very much, I understand better why I don't want to allow back links in comments

Outgoing links to reputable sites, meaning you provide more helpful information to your visitors, will enhance your standings with Google.

If you add too many affiliate links into your posts, you will get Google slapped hard.

John

I will keep this in mind, I will have to consider a possible landing page my affiliate links and reviews as I was thinking to have quite a few affiliate links to products I review.

I propose you do a product review for every product you have an affiliate link for. Then in your content you can link to the product review whenever you mention that particular product. This matches better with the mindset of a typical reader (he wants to get more information about the product when clicking that link) and the product review page you build on your site will give you the power to yield the information about the product in a way that meshes well with the rest of your site. If you place an affiliate link directly to that "other content", then you are at the mercy of whatever site the link directs to, which is definitely not good if you want the best conversion rates. According to my experience, even some pretty good products can have confusing sales or signup pages beneath their affiliate links and I even saw affiliate links that lead to pages with very terse information about the product (not a good place to lead an uninformed consumer). If you stumble at such a link, don't forget to provide the missing information on your product review page (such as how to actually get the product if that is not obvious on the affiliate link landing page).

Probably will if they are not related to your site.
I don't allow any link in the body of the comment at all.
