Hi Guys, what is this and how do I update it?
This is a WordPress issue on my dashboard in WordPress.
------------------------------------------------------------
you will need to talk to site support as it is on the server...
most likely it is not a problem unless one of your plugins or themes are asking you to upgrade....
you will find site support under help at the top...
have fun
phil
Thank you Phil, I appreciate your response!
That was what my site did ... it asked me to upgrade with a red exclamation mark!
I contacted Support and they say they will do it.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Hello
Yes, we can update the PHP version, for that we will have to move your website to our different hosting server. Please confirm so that we can start the transfer.!
--------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you once again
I have approached the Support Team for this in the past as I have had the same issue/warning for a long time.
They simply told me not to worry about it and that i could safely ignore this warning..
Still have the same message today... just that i forgot all about it..
Chris
I had the same response a while back when it was still 7.3 but if you ask them as I did they will update it for you.
Andre
Thank Chris always to catch up with the oldies. Oldies of WA lol

Yes I got the same message when I asked so confirm for them to do so and it will be done.
It doesn't take long either.
Andre
Hey Andre & Stella..
Yes I followed this up and after giving the OK for the server change.. they updated all mine without any issue... just to give you the follow up :)
Chris
I'd reach out to support

However, ultimately it is up to site support to update accordingly.
Hi Abie, this was the response I got from the Support Team.

This is something only WA can fix for you. Send a support ticket and ask them to update the PHP to the latest version they have which is I believe 7.4.16 which is what I have that site support updated to.
The one you have still is not an issue as stated but they will update when you ask them
Andre

Hi Guys, what is this and how do I update it?
This is a WordPress issue on my dashboard in WordPress.

This message will not affect the operation of your WordPress website.
PHP is something that is updated on the WA servers. WA support has a schedule as to when they will update it. When the server PHP is updated the message will go away.
But you can safely continue using your website..
Hi jghwebbrand,
I asked the Support team to upgrade, and they did.
Thank you very much for your response and support!
One of my websites is running on the outdated version of 7.3.9.
I requested that Site Support update to the 7.4.1 version 2 days ago and have not heard back from them to confirm the update was made.
The following are the replies I received from Site Support:
*************************************************
"We are moving the website to new server, Please do not make any changes to your site. We will update you once the website move is completed."
"please note that we do not make any changes to the hosting of the website without the user's confirmation."
********************************
So, based on the replies I have received from Site Support, I have not updated my website for two days and I am not sure when I can make some necessary updates. And I guess, based on the replies I have received from Site Support, that any further updates to PHP versions for my websites must be requested and confirmed by me.
Eric
I would ask site support what the status is for the PHP update and tell them you received a message that you should not do anything on your site until they contacted you . I am waited 2 days and would like to work on my site. When can I work on my site again?.
Done.............the website is now at the latest PHP version and, according to Site Support, has propagated the Internet and I can now make necessary updates.
I do not feel comfortable with many of the responses from Site Support. How many others out there at Wealthy Affiliate are running their websites on the older 7.3.9 version and have no idea of the newer version of 7.4.16? And does it make any difference if they never give authorization to Site Support to have the latest version of PHP offered at Wealthy Affiliate.
Really, does any of it matter? I think it is time for someone at Wealthy Affiliate to offer explanations on PHP versions. And if Site Support claims that WA members have to authorize to update, do the WA members know this?
It is not that big of a deal.
Eventually all of the servers will be updated.
It doesn't stop your website from working.
I would not make a big deal of this. If people do notice it and ask questions Site Support will respond, but definitely takes additional time on their part because they have to help whoever it is that requests it. Special permission has to be granted when individuals request it because things are not moved as a group.
Site support has a schedule by which they work and do the PHP updates. The update occurs at the server level so when it is time for a server to update, they do all websites on that server. which is much more efficient. And it does not affect people because WA has mirrored servers running so they can flip one on and the other one off when the PHP is updated.
Websites do not stop working because of it. So it is a matter of understanding of all that goes into what site support does to keep things working We have been here for 13 years and site support has a good track record and there is no need to publish a post about this. It all happens behind the scenes as it should..
I hope this helps you gain a better understanding of some of the technical stuff.
I am sure this response will generate some more messages.

Hey Stella,
You may find the following video provides you with the help you seek: Move Post or Page From One Website to Another Hope this helps you.
Thank you very much Triblu, I appreciate your advice and support!
Will definitely have a look.
Hi Trish, I asked the Support Team and here is the advice they gave me ... thought you will like to know.
If you want to move the thegiftofselflove.com site to the letterstomygranddaughter.com domain, you can use the move option available on the WA dashboard.
Here are the steps:
Please login to your WA dashboard area >> Site Manager >> look for your thegiftofselflove.com site in the site section >> Click on the Move button >> To an existing domain >> select your letterstomygranddaughter.com domain name from the drop down list >> Click on "I'm ready, Move my website" button.
Thank you for your help!
Ahhh... so you want to literally copy over any content on the site you want to move your content too then... and that both sites are hosted on the WA website hosting servers.
Glad you asked SIteSupport then, and thank YOU for sharing what you learned. Much appreciated.
Be cautious with your post rankings. The search engines will be really confused. Have they already crawled your new site and seen the redirects?. If you don't care what happens to your post rankings okay,
Thank you very much for your concern and advice ... will take it in consideration, but not much traffic to worry about yet.
Will rather get the domain in place.
Hey Estelle,
WordPress has a built in Import/Export tool which allows you to do this.
If you go to your WordPress back office and click TOOLS, you'll then see the import and export tabs.
Syed @ WPBeginner has created an in-depth guide on how to do this.
https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-export-a-wordpress-site
Hope that helps.
Partha
Thank you Partha for your advice, will have a look at the link, but I am too scared to push any buttons.
My technical knowledge is not even on any scale.
I did make a backup of the site and posts at Tools,
Think I will rather risk my reputation and contact Support ... hahaha.
Hahahaha, good call...
Yep, if both websites are hosted here, I'm sure they'll be happy to do it, and it should all get done fairly quickly.
Hi Partha here is the easy advice the Support Team gave me, thought you would like to know too.
Thank you for your support!
If data is wiped out and no back up was done, how are you going to achieve the original, it is not possible.
(unless site support does still have a copy)
That's if I understand you correctly.
When you apply the move feature found within site manager, You would need to wait up to 30 days (Kyle's recommendation) for 301 redirects to be completed and for the search engines.
I'd contact site support see if they can assist you
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/support
Thank you Abie!
I still have all the old content of 49 posts, I only lost the 8 post on the new site http://GIFTSOFSELFLOVE.COM when Support transfered instead of move it when they helped me to combine.
Will it be possible to cancel the redirecting sign and get to the old site again to move the 49 posts back to http://LETTERSTOMYGRANDDAUGHTER.COM
Does that makes sense???
You may follow up on below resource
https://moz.com/blog/can-you-reverse-a-301-redirect
However, I would still contact site support moving forward.
Thank you very much for your advice Abie!
I will contact support again ... I think they cringe when they see my name ... hahaha!
Will let you know what happened.
Okay great, waiting in anticipation.
Hope you get resolved sooner.
And you're very welcome.
Hi Abie, I asked the Support Team and as usual, they came up with an easy solution.

Taxonomies in WordPress is what Categories and tags are.
Categories are a high level of classification. If you look in Amazon you will see a lot of categories.
Tags are the descriptive of categories.
The degree to which a website uses categories depends upon the website owner and what the plan is for helping website visitors navigate their website.

Hi George
Interesting ... I've been "playing" with WordPress since about 2005 (more recently working with it) and never noticed Categories and Tags being referred to as Taxonomies!
I learn something new every day!
:-)
Richard
I wrestled with those terms a long time trying to figure out how to use them.
I just checked the definition again and they are taxonomies.
Custom post type is also a taxonomy.
Hi Estelle
Abie has covered Categories and Tags.
The word taxonomy is borrowed from science:
"the branch of science concerned with classification, especially of organisms; systematics."
The computer world often takes a word and changes its meaning!
In the computer land taxonomy typically refers to fonts ... the organisation of different type-faces.
Keywords are the words that someone uses when they use Google for instance to search for something on the internet.
:-)
Richard
Thank you Richard, so I assume taxonomy has more to do with cosmetics?
Are tags part of your keyword collection, and are phrases better than just one word?
Thank you for explaining!
You're welcome Estelle ... I know some of the words and phrases used around the internet and websites can be misleading and confusing.
Yes, for websites, taxonomy is largely to do with fonts, sizes, colours etc for the presented word.
Tags and Categories are like 2 sides of a coin.
Categories are typically used for logical grouping of posts ... so if you write a blog about transport for example you might have separate categories for posts about bicycles, motorbikes, scooters, cars etc. The Category might be thought of as the top of a hierarchical organisation of posts.
Tags, on the other hand, are a way of cross-referencing from one post to other ... for example, some of the means of transport above have engines. You might create "engine" as a tag so that someone can find all the posts (albeit held under different categories) that all have engines mentioned.
I hope that's useful.
:-)
