Importance of Categories and Tags in WordPress
Many of us see categories and tags by the right-hand side when creating our post. But we neglect them because we either know little about them or feel they are of less importance. They are the two most important ways to group our blog content when it comes creating a WordPress website.
These two elements contribute to creating a good user experience and Search Engine Optimization (SEO). While categories refer to a larger group of items, tags describes a more specific group.

Hi Ayodeji
Thanks for another great post. Something Someone brought up the question of categories and tags during Jay's training on Friday. Jay said it is better to only use categories and not bother with tags anymore. That in his opinion tags were something of the past. I guess visitors to sites are not using tags

Thank you Andy, @ embaker also called my attention to the same advice from Jay.
But here is my response to him : search engines are becoming much more robust with development or should I call it an advancement in technology.
With technology like artificial intelligence (AI), they are able to create tags on the own and group our various articles but this in my own opinion should not stop us from playing our own part.
As authors and owners of these websites, arranging our jobs with tags and categories will still help put things on track.
I will go through the training and reach out to Jay if there is a need.
I know there is always something to learn from him.
