I am trying to set up my "posts" page in word press and nothing will work. I have watched a bunch of videos and for some reason my wordpress editor looks different to everyone
If you can take a snapshot of the page from the backend we can then see where the issue may be.
As for not being able to remove the search bar if you go to appearance then click widgets you can hold and click the search bar and drag it down to the bottom left side or click the search bar and you will see delete.
This will take if off your sidebar.
If you are wanting to create a menu that has your home page and a separate menu for your posts then these links below should help you out.

Can you screenshot the view of your WP which you say does not look like everyone else’s WP and post it here please in the area in which you are trying to work🧐
If you are following the lessons and doing the tasks in order you should be fine. They do explain things very well. Don't jump ahead at all. It is set up this way for a reason to get the foundation of your website/blog before you start posting content.
If you do get stuck on particular things go to the search bar right up the top and be specific in what you want help with. It will give a drop down menu of helpful posts that may be the answer you are looking for.
The 'Training' tab also has classrooms with specific training in them. You just have to search for them. But do stick to the training. I always just followed the lesson and did the task and did not move along in the training until I completed it.
Perhaps contact the person who you signed with may be another option, or participate in Live chat. There is so much help you shouldn't be stuck for long!

What is your issue though? You are not being specific. Wordpress can be anything, there is alot involved...
In your site manager, when logged into your site, you should see pages and posts as separate entities and a lot else (appearance, settings, tools etc) to the left of your screen. Hence I do not quite understand what you mean by setting up a 'posts' page.
Or maybe you talk about a home page, for which you have two possibilities: static or a blog roll.

If you have a static home page then you just need an empty page for your blogroll. Create a new page called "Blog" and don't put anything in it at all. Then add your Blog page to your menu. Menu With Custom Links and Drop Down Non-Clickable Headings WordPress will automatically add your posts to the Blog page without you doing anything more.

If elementor will not work with my site. It has chronic errors and issues at this point it is either delete my whole site or move on to something else. I am not knowledgeable e
Elementor has a lot of bugs but sometimes it's a conflict between plugins. Try to disable your other plugins and try again. I deleted Elementor Addon because it really affected my site speed

I had the same experience. Some posts are perfect while some have inexplicable errors.
What happened, exactly?
It just says it cannot open preview or whatever. But I went through all the solutions on their site for this error and it said if that’s the case then it may a hosting error or http error. It got into some complex tech stuff that I am not experienced enough to deal with.
I've had that error message many times. I can't pinpoint exactly why it happens but it has something to do with trying to edit a post while it's in preview.
All I did was shut everything down and open it again. The "eye" icon beside the publish button has something to do with it which is why I try to avoid clicking on it.

I haven't used page builders like elementor. have you tried uninstalling elementor? If you haven't written a lot of content and it is a brandnew site then the last option would be to start fresh. Like I said in your previous post, see if site support can help you out.
