I'm trying to set up analytics on my new website. When I did this for my previous one Google gave me a code to cut and paste. This time it is asking me to download something

hi - might be worth checking out my training on this for an easy way to do it. good luck

frustrating that they are always changing it

Thank you my dear, I shall definitely keep hold of this for next time they either change it or I simply forget how to do it :-)

have you got the All-in-One SEO plugin? If you have, you can copy and paste your code into the plugin settings and then you do not need to do anything like that.
Check out Kyle's video to do it:

Hi John, have you used this method recently? It seems to have all changed since this?

Hi John, I seem to have found a way to do it without 'uploading'. I really don't find google very user-friendly. They seem to labour the small stuff with endless 'how to' videos, then when you come to do something it's all jargon. Anyway, enough moaning from me, I got there in the end, thanks for jumping in.

One of my websites has block editing and the other doesn't. How do I enable block editing on the site that doesn't appear to have it? Is it a plugin or something else?

Glad you got this fixed Alison! So you like the block editor? It's the newest version of WordPress.

I think I do because it works well with my current theme, whereas it just couldn't get on with the theme on my first website. Mind you, that theme had so many problems!

Go into your plugins and deactivate the Classic Editor. You'll now have the block editor activated.

Thank you

the block editor is there as the default editor ( as long as you keep wordpress updated)
if you go to settings =>writing you can allow the user to be able to change between the editors.
and set the default editor.
and whether you are locked to one editor.
once you can select then if you go to posts and hover over teh post you will see the edit with block and edit with classic editor. allowing you to choose which you want to use.
if you find after you start a new post and you want it in the other editor, down the right hand side there will be a place to switch editors.
good luck
phil

you are a legend! Thank you x

Which plugin should I use to add social media share icons? I've seen training on here (quite old now) that recommends 'Sociable' but it only gets 3/5 stars. 'Simply sociable'

Hey Alison,

Here is the one that Kyle recommends using: Hope you find this helpful.

I use "Ultimate Social Media".

Ultimately I suggest dining a bit of research as want a product or service I will research it. Look for a general trends or find out people gravitate to possibly.

I previously used Ultimate Social Icons but also switched to:

Social Media fFather

Thank you, it gets two votes so far! I've given it a go, seems fine so far. I found some training that Loes had done which really helped.

Great to see progress being made

Hi - I use Social Media Feather.

Cheers Diane, I'll go check it out :)

There's a column on my website that records the recent comments. So if John leaves a comment it will say 'John on NAME OF ARTICLE'. When I respond, I end up with a repetative

I think it lists the comments chronologically so if you reply to 6 comments then your 6 replies become the latest comments.
Its not ideal so i moved it to the bottom of my list of widgets.

Hi - you mean your "Recent Comments" sidebar widget. I don't know if it can be edited. I actually removed mine, because as you say, I didn't like the look of it.

I've left it there for now because maybe it makes the site look like there is activity?? At least when it's not all my name lol

Ruby, can you please take a couple of screenshots of what you are looking at when you do this? And post them back with the question?

Sonny

Sure Sonny, it's the Recent Comments widget/sidebar??

back end looks like this...
There's the option to set a number of comments before it cuts off but I can't see a way to restrict it to other people's comments rather than all comments, which of course include mine.

Looking at mine I see it is set the same way. But I have not paid any attention to it before since I have it set 2nd to bottom in my Widgets. My number of comments I have set to 4.
Looking under the Comments section and the Discussion section I do not see a way that comments can be restricted.
Under Discussion > Other Comment settings > Enable threaded (nested) comments can either be turned On or Off.

So as Diane says below you can either remove it or ignore it and follow comments on the actual pages where they are after you approve them. :)

Authoring & Writing Content
Updated

I have just completed a wholly original piece of content. Much of it is written from my own experience including anecdotes from my childhood. When I went to publish from site

This was an issue yesterday, it should have been resolved now. When did you get this issue, just right now?

If so, for what article are you getting this. Let me know and I will have our development team investigate this.

I finally got my blog posted but now comments are coming up as spam and not unique.

I had the same issue yesterday when I wrote a comment - I knew it was not me hence I just moved on to my next task without posting the said comment.
Kyle's response below answers my issue.
if there is a way to recover that comment - I would like to know how so I can post it to the proper website.

I'm having the same problem. I asked about it here. I'm going to try putting it into another blog. I also got the message about SIteComments I was doing yesterday.

I was like, ok look, I just wrote this just now. This is not Groundhog's Day.

But it looks like Kyle is aware so hopefully, we will stop being accused of copying ourselves.

I had the same experience which threw me off because I have never experienced it before... :)

I think it really is a glitch, seems like Kyle has it in hand. It threw me completely too, like being accused of shoplifting lol

ha, ha, ha! That was funny! Yeah, It's never happened before, I hope it will be sorted soon. :)

I've just taken the external link out and the article published without an issue. I know the content is unique apart from individual well-known phrases such as the Zero Waste mantra, 'refuse, reduce, reuse, recycle, rot'. Now I've heard there has been a glitch recently I am reassured that there is no genuine issue.

I just tried to post on my blog and got a similar message :(

Hi :)

This is very odd given the unique content of your article!

I would suggest getting in touch with Kyle (he's very responsive) and asking him :)

Looks like Spam. This might help with your confusion.

Whatever that site is it is not Wealthy Affiliate and nothing to do with Wealthy Affiliate.
