Looks like MOBE won their law suit against WA. What impact if any will this have on the future of WA?
I'm surprised MOBE won the court case. In the US I don't think they would have won though.
I'm not going to change anything about my reviews. In the beginning I was a little harsh on other programs and products, and probably used the word "scam" a little too loosely, but I've dialed it back a bit. I just give my opinion and there is nothing wrong with that.
However, I do wonder if it would be a good idea to put a disclaimer on my site saying that these are just my opinions etc... I noticed that Ethan Vanderbuild of http://ethanvanderbuilt.com has one on his site and he literally calls just about every company and program out there a scam.
I'm sure they will survive. I prefer not to directly call companies a scam if I write a review. I'll give pros and cons in my opinion and my personal suggestion of whether I would use it or not but not to say it's a complete scam. Although...if it is ...an honest review will show that without outright bashing the company. I'm still somewhat new to this though.
They will survive:) I know they are a bit sue-sick overseas. Let it be a warning to everyone who's into scam reports, to be very careful with allegations towards others.
This is most informative Paul. I find it educational to get a feel for the Canadian legal process. The discovery process can indeed become enmeshed if there is no clear responsibility.
That being said It's impossible to run a business with the number of complexities that WA has without running afoul of interests. You cant please everyone. WA will survive this and the status quo of the greatest affiliate business on the planet will resume unfettered! My prediction!.
be careful what you write and think about it.
Call a program a scam and they - for some reason - may get upset and fight back!
Only call it a scam if you are very rich!!!
And don't just rehash reviews - do your own investigation, say you would not join because of .... but don't call it a scam!
Thanks for finding
Phil
So many dodgy scam reviews online it's amazing more people don't get sued. IT happens in reverse too. People calling WA scam etc
totally agree - so are we getting into an online sue me culture?
There are a lot of time wasting courses online - but how do you tell if not by reading the reviews?
But the reviewer, to my mind, must not call the course a scam but state why they would not join it and not recommend it.
It really is up to te individual to make their mind up as to whether they think the course is a scam from what you have written.
But you should not call it a scam outright, if you do then people will get upset - their livelyhood may depend on selling that course.
100% agree. I think it's unfair that WA owners have to pay for what others write tho. There's really no way of stopping members from saying this and that is a scam even if the program isn't.
Amazon recently had something similar where affiliates were using amazon images on their site (the incorrect way) and the product owners didn't like that. So amazon went to court.... Now amazon is cracking down on affiliates not using images the correct way. But I don't know how WA can do the same for affiliates.
What? what is this about? Oh god, I guess I may never know, I'm not well and need to go offline now.. I always miss everything! Grrr
Hey Juliana,
Sorry you're not feeling well, but please do NOT worry. WA will have insurance that will take care of any lawsuit like this. They WILL remain in business.
This is a good example of why ANY business needs to have an insurance to cover such lawsuits.
Hope this helps you.

I'm reading this now because I was curious since I found out that MOBE was shut down by the FTC... There's a reason why WA is still here and MOBE isn't.
Actually, when we look at the the Bootcamp training, no, Kyle does not TELL you to go and declare everything else a scam, only to promote WA. He actually tells us to become affiliates of good programs to promote these programs alongside WA.
Sorry about calling some other programs scams but most of making money online programs out there are only out to get people's money.
I'm just very glad that WA has pulled through. MOBE is not in a very good position now... try non-existent.

I thought I had finally come up with the perfect domain name for my make money online niche. PMH are my initials and I thought pmhmarketing.com, which is available, would be a
In cases like this, it's usually whoever has the deepest pockets wins. PMH isn't a one man band, it's a reputable medium-sized advertising agency. http://www.adweek.com/agencyspy/peterson-milla-hooks-parts-with-president-david-denham-after-15-months/127338
You have to decide whether the risk that they might launch a legal challenge is worth it to you, and bear in mind that you would have to move your site to a new domain if you decide not to fight or if you do and lose!
Thanks @Rich. That kinda confirms my concerns too. And, I won't have the deeper pockets. It also just occurred to me that I'm not selling marketing services to my target audience, but instead I'm selling the promise of a lifestyle and financial freedom. I think I may be better served by focussing on domain names that convey that message instead. Or, I can use my paulheely.com domain, which is sitting dormant right now and make myself the brand...???
I'm wary, ever since Amazon forced a member to surrender a domain name simply because it ended in —zon !!
I'd definitely rather have a brand such as http://www.boohoo.com than an EMD as limiting as http://www.buycheapdesignerwomensclothesonline.com
Your domain name doesn't even have to be relevant, if it did http://www.amazon.com would sell river trips and http://www.apple.com would sell fruit! It can even be personal, http://www.craigslist.com so http://paulheely.com would be fine! :)

So what's everyone's thought on fly fishing as a niche? I've been fishing for 40+ years and fly fishing for over 20 of those. I've fished everything from fresh sunfish, large
One of my favorite movies is "A River Runs Through It"; it's all about fly fishing..or maybe it's just fishing. In any event, I think your niche is a great idea, Paul.
Rich's suggestions ties into what Kyle talks about in terms of trying to narrow down your niche.
I think it's a great idea Paul. Especially if you are passionate about it and have a lot of experience. That's what it's all about. Earning a living doing what you love to do. It will show on your site and people will come back for more information when they have questions. They will trust you and buy from your site based on your recommendations.
I wish you the best with it!
Gina
Well, let's put it this way, you're talking my language man! I have a website in the making myself called outdoor-connections.com which includes fishing in general as well as camping and hiking.
Take care!
Excellent niche and you can really monetize it and not run out of content over the long-term. I had toyed around with the idea of doing a fly fishing site myself.
With your experience and passion for the subject, you could do very well!
I think the fact that you have so many years of experience alone is a reason to do it! You will be writing quality content that you know a lot about and are passionate about and that will speak to your readers!
I don't know much about fishing or fly fishing, but I am sure there are TONS of people out there who want to learn about it! You can leave the website domain as is, it's very catchy. For your different pages or posts, you can hone in on more specific sub-niches within the category.
Good luck!
I think it sounds awesome. You could focus on a specific area of fly fishing or include several areas and visitors would have one site to visit for all their fly fishing info and needs. Go with it!
I'd suggest you start by focusing on a specific fly fishing category, ie. there are some good keywords for 'fly fishing rods' see http://d.pr/i/JhN4zp
Also, consider specific target audiences and create categories of those, ie. 'fly fishing for kids' see http://d.pr/i/Fo9xnI
I wouldn't necessarily dismiss Amazon, for a start they accept 'barely there' sites, have a global audience, and are trusted by visitors, they are also probably the 'go to' retailer for 'fly fishing books' see http://d.pr/i/GQAGK9
Thanks for sharing your search results for me. Those all look like very promising sub-niches to look into.
No probs. you're most welcome. You can start off building those kinds of sections, perhaps doing book reviews, have a news section, using Google Alerts, etc. I think you'll do really well with it. Good Luck! :)
Check out Bass Pro for affiliate tips that will make this idea rock!

Thanks for the link. I'll be sure to check them out. I keep forgetting that Bass Pro has really stepped up their fly fishing game in the last few years.
Hi Paul. Now I'm a newby here myself so I'm not claiming to be an expert by any means, but I think that starting with something you are passionate about has got to be a step in the right direction hasn't it? I know nothing about fishing sadly, but it I did want to find something out about it, I'd rather go and ask someone who could talk about their 40 years' of fishing experiences rather someone who'd wandered round their local pet shop for 10 minutes!
So I'd go for it - it's not the end of the world if you later come up with another idea either. Go for the passion. Life is supposed to be enjoyable and to me, so is this internet business lark!
I look forward to hearing about your success

I think this sounds cool. Also, for what it's worth, I just picked up a magazine at the drug store check out line and there was a whole fashion spread with a woman fly fishing - so it's a trending idea I think. Christopher Parkening, the classical guitarist, wrote a book where every other chapter was about fly fishing - that might be a good product to recommend sometime....

I'm going to be setting up a site targeting the survivalist and prepper communities. I've come up with two domain names I like and can't really decide between them. They are:
Of the 2, I would lean more towards the 1st one because it has your name it the title.
Kyle actually talks about this and gives a great example of two domain names, one with and one without his name. Even if you've already read through it, it may be worth taking another look: How to choose a proper domain name?
I did end up going with the domain that has my name in it. But, I had not seen Kyle's post, so thank you for posting it.
Kyle's training was very helpful as I looked to developed my 2nd site. Great choice, Paul!
I think that survival advice (not advise) should start the domain name and then paul should follow. Example:
Survival advice by paul or survival advice with paul.
This way when someone's looking for survival advice it may pop up. Most people looking for survival advice wouldn't normally type in paul first.
I think all the domains here look great. I like the one mentioned by Kearns as well. Only suggestion I have is maybe changing the word advise to advice, since the former is a verb. But any one of these domain names will definitely work!
Me and my horrible spelling. Thanks for catching the advise mistake. Unfortunately the site MKearns suggested is actually already registered, even though there is not website setup for it.
Haha, yeah that domain looked too good to be true. But I think Pauls Survival Advice could work out just as great, if not better!
