So I’m having this problem on a Spanish website where all of my letters with accent marks (á, é, í, ó, ú, ñ) appear incorrectly.

i take it you have set your wordpress language to spanish
under settings you have et option of setting the language to espanol or other spanishes across the globe
phil
but it will be language font support...
how did you write the articles .. did you import them or write them within wordpress.

Hi Phil,

Some of the articles were written directly in Wordpress and some others were pasted inside from Google docs.

As for Wordpress itself, this is set in Spanish, but I have no problem with this. The only problem is with the posts on my site. And it's also worth mentioning that the titles of some posts display incorrectly as well... all of which were written directly inside Wordpress.

Do you have any thoughts as to what I should do to try to solve this problem?

do they display ok within your wordpress...if so could it be your browser not supporting the font....
it looks like it is translating the extended characters as their ascii...
if you look at the code for what you have written above then it is completely different...so looking at your wordpress html will show whether it is correct...
what is displayed when using ctrl+u
at “a ntilde os” is incorrectly displayed as “aAtilde;plusminus;os”

have you got a url that does this as it may be a declaration made within your head section that is not saying what to translate the html sent correctly....
what you are looking for is
<meta; charset="utf-8">
in the head section....this tells the browsers the html is sent to how to decode it...

Hi Phil,

Does this line of code have anything to do with this?

<meta charset="<?php bloginfo( 'charset' ); ?>">

I found this in my website header, but nothing exactly as you pasted in the previous comment.

looks like it is inheriting the charset from the bloginfo variable...
reading more about it all of the tables in your database need to have the correct coding for the language support....
unfortunately that is above what i am able to d oat the moment...but read about it in the thread from wmpl
https://wpml.org/forums/topic/accents-are-not-working-in-spanish-automatically-converted-to-strange-chars/
i hope you get it sorted...

Thank you for the advice and help Phil. I really appreciate it. I will look at the link you provided.

no worries... just frustrated i couldn't help you further....
i hope you manage to get to the bottom of it...
