Wordpress 4.9 omgwtfbbq
I've updated to the latest version of WordPress (4.9) without the slightest hitch. But some people are not so fortunate.
If you are experiencing any difficulties then this post at WordPress.org should help WordPress 4.9 Support
If you're experiencing any problems with your website since the update then please tell us about it too in the comments.Recent Comments

Thanks a lot Marion!
Haven't made the update yet.
I'll read the post you have linked here first.
So good to have you helping around all the time!
:-)
Homework again, I have updated, but not checked (yet) there goes a day up in smoke again....grmpffff
Who doesn't like a good BBQ? As for the others, we can do without them!
I didn't experience any issues, but with any major WP update there often times will be some conflicts within certain plugins and themes that show up in the weirdest of ways.
Yeah, those glitches usually get sorted out when the themes and plugins get updated to match the WordPress version. Ah, the joys of owning a website!
I don't, Kyle, I am a veggie, so BBQ has not really my attention, the salads are usually great though.
You right about that. I just love BBQ vegies, It's taste very good. It's totally different from doing on the stove, indeed. Sometimes I use to do them on the stove putting very little olive oil and cook it on hi on a big skilet, and let it burn a little bit and you will get that unique BBQ taste to it. You have to stir all the time that you are cooking it.
I haven't tested everything but I do have one very annoying glitch after the upgrade. Any of my pages where I use tables and specify a width in pixels or percentages I get a garbage string after the number as such:
width: 100{820dd39f9853fe36082dc9ad830611643dadfbe63acad0442f9a1db8f5a36292}
which is supposed to be:
width: 100%
Now I need to fix these or wait for WP to come out with a bug fix.
Grrrrr
Did you use HTML or a plugin to create the tables? If it's a plugin then perhaps the plugin will get updated soon.
I am pretty quick creating tables by hand so that I can have tighter control over the look and feel. I did them by hand so there is no plugin to fix this problem, :(
I could not open my widgets anymore and the customizer did not work, either... I had to go back to the old WP version and change the theme. Now it's working fine but I'm hesitating with updating again....
Thanks for your WP links, will have a look at it.
I'm glad you had a backup Gerlinde. Now that you've changed the theme perhaps you could try the update again.
Great title. I randomly had my sites removed from being verified when I updated and had to re verify them.
I'm not a fan of updates.

Which method of verifying your sites did you use? Some methods are more permanent than others. I always use FTP to upload the HTML file.
File Transfer Protocol. It's a way of moving files from your computer to your website and from your website to your computer. It's also Google's preferred method for verifying websites.
Okay thank you. I don't know how I did it now. I forget the technical processes very easily. If I lose it again I will try and remember to do this. Thanks for the help.

I borrowed it from the article at http://WordPress.org But WA won't let me make it all caps :(
Backup first then update. You can always roll back to your backup if things go amiss.
I had no problems myself but 'your mileage may vary'.
