No More Facebook Friends Please
The topic of spam is coming up regularly at WA and it is truly sad. Take this example that Steve just posted recently:

When I first joined WA I connected with so many members on Facebook and in the beginning it was lovely. However I now do not accept Facebook friend requests anymore and they are coming in by the dozen every single day.
I am sorry, I don't want to offend anyone by rejecting your friend request. In fact I would love to connect with WA members on Facebook. The problem is that I have been spammed too many times on Facebook by some dodgy WA members.
I love to network and I love to interact but I just hate spam.
So due to some people behaving inappropriately I reject all friend requests unless I personally know the person or unless I have had direct dealings at WA with that member and become what I consider friends and I can trust that person.

I must say it would be really nice if all members of WA followed the rules, because it is just a few rotten apples spoiling it for everyone else.

I am so sorry this happened to you. Does that mean you will not have any site to promote anything of FB? I have had some spam too, but I do not recognize it at the time. Sorry, this happened to you. I too had too many requests that I just did not accept.any more. I do not have time for FB and their inept one line responses.
Oh I promote on Facebook for sure, on my Facebook pages where promotions are supposed to be run!
I am finding great success with my Facebook marketing.
I am sure you are dear. I was talking more about the regular pages people have. I have quite a few people that are even famous, but for the most part, the friends respond very briefly with their comments. On the part where you work for your website is different I am sure. I am going to do that too when I have more time. You jump to conclusions quickly.

Spam can be such an annoying thing, thanks for sharing, Lynne, for me I have yet to capitalise on the social media aspect.:)
In my eyes Facebook is very superficial... that's the reason why I did not set up a Business account, yet... I don't have many followers and I am very happy about it :-) But maybe I should rethink it... Maybe Twitter would be different, I don't know...
I think you should be on Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, Google Plus, Pinterest and Instagram :)
Yes they are all superficial but if you look at it from a purely business point of view you are letting free traffic slip through your fingers, plus social signals help build your website authority.....
but from the side of people friending me personally? No thanks, not any more.
I've some WA members on my FB but we've been pally for a long time even before FB. I won't accept requests either from people I don't know. Good blog and worth pointing out.
Yeah I have some great WA friends on Facebook and if it is someone I am really friendly with here that sends me a request I will approve it but otherwise not. It really is getting disappointing :( It is just sad that the true spirit of WA is not carried through outside of WA, well sometimes it is, but often it is not.
I am useless with Facebook... I wish I had your problem...

I'm sorry that happened to you. I'm friends with only a few WA members on FB, but those are the ones I connected to when I first started WA. I feel like I know them well although we dont know each other in real life.
Yes same, I have some great WA friends on Facebook but now I am getting loads of requests from WA members and I find a good number of them spam me by inboxing me offers, posting their offers on my page and tagging me in their promotional posts.
I don't feel that this is good practice at all!
