OK. Apparently I need a placeholder in here for now. So here's the short of it. I started listening to Amway tapes at 8. I started reading business books at 12. Started programming about 20 years ago, I can code in half a dozen languages now, and I can pick up a new one in a couple weeks if I have to. Finally I've been doing IM for a little less than the 20 years.

I do web development for small businesses, but I'm getting ready to launch a new business in a similar vein. Oh I was also a Marine for five years in there and went to college out of boredom a couple times. I'll come back later and put something better up here. Not sure about my profile image though. I might see how long I can leave that as it is. I kind of like the blue outline guy.

Here are my current social media accounts that I just setup if you're interested:

Hi, Cory.

Just stumbled across, and read, your Jan 4, 2017 post: Then, I came to your profile page, saw and read your March 01, 2017 post: Excited to get to your training, which I knew would be amazing, I returned to your profile page and found...

... no training. I'm so sad! :`(

I've made sure to follow you though, in case you ever do have time to make some trainings. In the mean time, I'm confident I can learn much from your posts.

Hope all is going well for you!

Hi, Cory...I've been a follower of yours for awhile now. Thank you for your service. Did you do your basic training at the infamous Paris Island? I was married to a Marine for a number of years-he actually was drafted into the Marine Corps way back when.
Best wishes for a successful 2017.

Thanks Karen. Yeah I kind of just bit the bullet today and went through a refollowed everyone that was following me. I was experimenting with somethings before then that weren't do anything for me, so didn't see any reason to continue them. Thank you for your follow while I figured things out. :)

I actually went to San Diego. I was in AZ at the time that I joined. Are we talking about Nam? My uncle was in the Navy for that. That generation has my utmost respect.

Yea...it was 1969. Simon & Garfunkle, the Beach Boys, the Mamma's & Pappa's, the Rolling Stones and the inspiration for "Good Morning Viet Nam" with Robin Williams. One of the best movies ever.

LOL too true. I love that movie. And for the record I grew up listening to Simon & Garfunkle, even though it was like 20 years later :)

Dearest of Dear Cory Of Blue Man Outline Fame:

With Your IQ & EQ & most importantly to me EQ.....you can do whatever you bloody well like with your WA IMAGE as we re tickled pink to have you or at least should be!!!!

I hope and am sure that you are finding your like-minded IQ peeps here!

I know I have enjoyed reconnecting!!!!!!!!!

So my poop:

was reading at 2-3 in the 1960's - I guess most families who were lucky enough to be affluent like mine their parents were partiers - Shaughnessy Vancouver etc - I was adopted from a Mensa Intelligent father - became head AlbertTreasury Board...

my birth mother Vancouver was a lovely nourishing maternal prairie mother - fresh bread from heaven -manna- Q Wednesday!!!

my birth father was an Engineer - 2 US Patents Hydraulic Steering large Oil Tanker Ships in Vancouver Harbour - Valves to prevent OIL LEAKS! The was after the Bakelite & Plastic Injection Mould Inception of the Mechanical /Creative Engineering Post WWII - he was injured -right leg blown off on angle up to Right Kidney - blown up at age 17 in Belgium first month of war...

My dad saw that there was a huge difference between my dork-head older brother (!957-born to annoy me) & the baby - me - "Little Miss Can't be Wrong!!!!""""" LOLOL

I was Curious George - he said he tried to keep up and was able until I hit University BC - 1979 - I took 4 Degrees:

1. Combined Rapidly Accelerated 3 yr Combined BSc/MD Honouring in Cell Biology (new department with first Electron Microscope on Campus) & Medical Genetics - also new - the Human Genome Project was Hypothesized etc

2. Music & Art ... proctored for amusement...

3> I worked at Woodward's Oakridge in Vancouver throughout School from Grade 10 June 1977 Part-Time every Thursday and Friday and Saturday all through High School until 3rd Year Med School

4. Toronto Conservatory Grade 10 Pianist - age 40 played in a Rock Band with a well known male friend bass player known in the Canadian Scene

5. Canadian Ranked Ice Dance Figure skating Competitor - represented Canada in Europe & USA & all over Canada - from age 5-20 years old & teamed with my Brother- yet we were not Genetically Related but could've and did get mistaken as twins all -the-time!

LOL Well Dr. Barb, I have definitely found all kinds here including a few IQ peeps and the conversations have been excellent. :)

I tried piano when I was young but it didn't really stick. Later in college, I moved to electronic music which was more my speed. Programming out what I wanted to hear worked better than trying to play it.

I also competed in roller skating growing up, and did couples with my actual sister. We get told we look like twins all the time to, but that makes a little more sense for us. :) I've been ice skating interestingly enough.

As for my EQ, It is on it's own program. :) Through a lot of study I've gotten ok at understanding people from an intellectual perspective, but I rarely ever "get" them.

Thanks for the kind words and support. You're posts made my day. :)

Hey Cory,
just wanted to say thanks for the Follow, have followed you back.

How have your first couple of days been here in WA ?

You might want to change your image, even if it is just one of the stock images as it will help your sponsor with stats ;-)

Cath, you know I've gotten more comments on my image than probably anything else here and you're the first one to bring up the sponsor stats. Good information to know. Thanks. The stats should be good though. I actually downloaded the image, added the text, and put it back up. So unless they're running image recognition software it's probably good.

My first couple days have been great. Met a lot of awesome people and had some amazing conversations. Thanks for asking.

Yes the stats, if your sponsor is a premium member then when you have completed your profile and uploaded a profile picture they get $1 as a credit to their aacount so it is important to get photos in boxes.
It woulds like you have it covered though as in a photo of a not photo lol

Thanks for adding me to your network, Cory. We're lucky to have someone with your knowledge and skills in our community.

The image place holder you see now is fairly new. You would not have liked the ugly harsh black silhouette figure we had before the recent update. It made most people want to replace it right away...lol.

LOL I guess I have good timing then. Although most of my wardrobe does consist of black so that may have been more fitting. Off the web I tend to get into a lot of hands on projects and I tend to jump right in without thinking, "May be I should change my clothes." I've found that it was easier just to wear black work pants all the time than to keep replacing the pants I kept getting grease stains on. :)

Thanks for the great comment Jude.

Hi Cory...

Thank you for adding me to your network. I am going to do the same. There is something very interesting about your profile just like your profile picture. I just felt there is much more to it than meets the eye, like you really know what you are doing and where you want to go.

something like - people to care more about what comes out of my mouth than what shirt I have on. ?

Welcome to WA. Best of wishes in your chosen niche.

Thanks, Danielle. I'll try to no to let you down :)

And I would say that you're right, I do want people to care more about what comes out of my mouth than what shirt I have on, but I think we should really strive to do that for everyone on here.

On the one hand this is a social network, so by all means we can meet and socialize with whom ever we want. On the other hand, it's also a business training resource. You're bottom line doesn't care what the person you're talking to is wearing or if they're the most popular person around. All it cares about is if what they're saying works. If we're really here to make money and build a business then really isn't that what we should care about too? :)
Reply

I absolutely agree with you. The social side to this platform is only an offshoot from the business training resource. I would and I do care much more about what people present business and training wise more than the social aspect although being social presents a light heartedness to the whole thing and a bit of vibrancy.

The human mind is also a strange thing. It works by identifying things for some reason. So a profile without a real picture does raise that aspect of trying to identify. I am not bothered about that, I have read your blogs and I think they are brilliant. You have a lot to offer to the community despite the scanty-identity-that-actually-speaks-volumes presentation. Lol! But then again your profile fills in the gaps.

so, yeah, all good.

Napoleon Hill wrote a book called Think and Grow Rich that was given to me when I was younger. It's actually a condensed version of his Laws of Success series. They're in the public domain now so you can find free copies of them on archive.org.

One of the things that stuck out most to me in those books was the idea of the mastermind principle. He argued that in order to be successful we need to exchange ideas with like minded people because it allows us to advance or thinking much faster than we can on our own. This actually plays out in the book The Innovators which is basically the history of computers and the internet going back to the 1800's. It talks about how a big part of the success of early tech companies were building layouts that caused people with varying specialties to run into each other and have spontaneous discussions.

Basically what I'm saying is don't underestimate the power of the right social network to help you become successful. Personally I hate social networks, but put me around a bunch of people with similar interests and I can go on and on...obviously. :)

Hi Cory...

I like Napoleon Hill. 'Think and Grow Rich' is a book I also read when I was younger. It's a book with good principles for a growing mind.

The power of the mastermind really fascinates me from the point of view you expressed and also from another point of view that states that when two or more minds are in total harmony there arises another invisible power that is the mastermind.

I have written a blog on one of Napoleon's quotes. Have a look at Kyle's response on that blog. It's similar to part of what you just expressed here.

Bobbykige thought I did much better than Napoleon Hill in my training! You can have a look at the comment on the link below. Gosh was I surprised! You bet! Me... better than Napoleon Hill! You are joking! But Yeah, apparently I did! Have a look:- WA is fascinating in so many different ways. The last paragraph from your comment above rings true for me too.

Holy Crap!! You're saying what I write is brilliant. Modest much. You even got props from Kyle!! Congrats.

I've been so busy answering questions and trying to get through the training that I haven't had a chance to check out other people's posts much. I'm putting your training course on my to do list because I'm trying to get through the basic courses first, but it's going to the top of my list once that's done.

Thanks for sharing those. Who knows when I would have stumbled on them.

I wasn't trying to make you do my training Cory. I was just showing you snippet parts that involved Napoleon Hill in my writing because you happened to recommend his writings to me. You honestly don't have to do that training.

Enjoy the rest of your day.

:) I didn't take it like that, but Think and Grow Rich was one of the earliest business books I ever read, so I'm really interested to see what you put together. Plus your training got raving reviews. Why wouldn't I want to check it out?

There's a ton of training on here. Obviously not all of it is going to be stuff I need, but I'm going to have to sift through it all to find out which is which. If you can simplify that process by pointing me in the direction of things I might be interested in then I am better off for it. If that happens to be training you created, more power to you. To paraphrase a comment on one of my questions "Recommend the best of everything, especially if it comes from you." ;)

I know, same thing happened to me when I started.

I just wanted to reach out and let you know that I am here if you ever want to run any niche "ideas" by me or you have any questions about finding your niche.
