Would it be a good idea to create a Facebook fan page rather than a new FB account for my website?

Debs has a good answer which is similar to the one I was going to post

Hi,
You need a profile account first. From there you can have a group page and a business page. A business page is better and gives you connection to Instagram also. There are limits but that is down to a massive barrage of people all at once it wont affect you yet though.
I have a profile page a group and business page. :))

Good answer Debs, pretty much covers it

Thanks Debs. I didn't want to use my personal account for business, so yes, I created a separate business page.

Well done. You can only use FB for business, by creating a page, though you have to have a personal profile to do that.

Dave how are you not been around for a while how are you and thank you for that too :))

Dave yes its true. We have to have a personal page to set up the rest let me know if any one knows a way around it lol I love a little hack. Thank you Dave :))

I am fine Debs, I see you have a new profile piccy as well

Hi, Dave sorry have been so busy not been in here much. I changed back my pic lol. great to catch up with you again though. :))

There are also limits on the number of "friends" on a profile page. A fan page can have much more !
Plus you have the option of boosting a post with a set budget. I post my reviews and then boost them for about 5 bucks so more people see it.
It helps generate likes.
Mike

You've had more success than me with boosting then. :D

Good point about the friend limit. I forgot about that. But then I've never had the problem of hitting the limit!

Thanks for the good advise Mike. Very helpful.

Good answer Mike

Facebook's own rules state that you can only have one account per person and that you should create pages for businesses, websites and so on.

From my personal viewpoint - it's easier to manage too. :)

Good answer Phil

Cheers Phil.

Thanks for your support Dave.

Hi, I'm trying to display an opt-in form in my Twenty Fourteen content sidebar. I created the form in Mailchimp following its instructions and then followed instructions on how

Here is a web page that will give you some pointers

https://kb.mailchimp.com/lists/signup-forms/add-a-signup-form-to-your-website

Thanks Robert, I realised I wasn't pasting the embedded code but rather the url address instead, expecting Wordpress to magically convert it into the form, for me.

Thanks Robert. I realised I wasn't using the embedded code, and instead, I was just pasting the url into the text box, expecting WA to magically convert it to my signup form.

I'm now following you Robert. Thanks.

Henry

Happy to help when I can.
Have a great Tuesday.
Robert

Use a custom html widget, not a text widget.

Thanks, I'll see how I get on with it.

I've just tried using the custom html widget. I was hoping it would work, but it is still displaying the address and not the form.

HI Mel. I realised what I was doing wrong. I had to sit back and think about what I was doing and after going over instructions again, I realised html code meant html code and not the url web-form address.

Thanks, the custom text box work just fine; I'm now proudly displaying the op-in form on my website.

I'm using FileZilla and need to insert the Google Analytics code into the header of each my blog post pages - that's what their page has instructed me to do to on every page I

Hi Hennry,

You do not have to use FileZilla to add Google Analytics code to your pages. If you have WA hosting your domain you can add the GA using the "All In One SEO" plugin. I am assuming that you have your website being hosted in WA.

1). In the left panel, click on All In One SEO.
2). Click on "General Settings"
3). Scroll down to the "Google Settings" section.
4). Scroll down to the "Google Analytics ID" section.
5). Enter the Analytics code for the domain in the box.
6). Scroll down or up and click on the Blue "Update Options" button to save the changes.
7). You are done.

If I remember, I think that you must add some file into a folder. You may have to Google how this file is added using FileZilla. I have not used this method for years and I wish I could remember how to do it.

I highly recommend using the All in One SEO plugin for adding GA to your domains in the future.

Best wishes,

George

Hi,

I forgot to mention that if you do not have the All in One SEO plugin added you must add it first before you will see the All in One SEO option in the left panel.

Best wishes,

George

Thanks George, I've just checked my plugins because I recognised the name and yes, one of the earlier lessons had me install it. I haven't configured it to be used with my Google Analytics so thank you for that valuable information. Oh and I am now following you. Thank you.

Henry.

I've just noticed, you've been a member since 2009. Wow, that's a fantastic achievement of itself!

Hey Henry,

Here is an easy to follow tutorial to show you how to add your Google Analytics ID: If this one does not work for you, see screen print to find out how to find another tutorial that may work for you... depending on the plugin you are using.

Hope this helps you.

Thanks Trish. That was really helpful.

You may try this method. p/s - You can't locate your posts and pages through Filezilla.

Thanks Joe. Sorry for the late reply. Just getting back home and watching the video you sent to me. Much appreciated. Bye for now.

I am working on my first review blog post but I am having difficulties with the links not pointing to the correct amazon page. I've entered them all correctly and they all test

I would check with tech support and see if there is anything that they can do to help you out.

Thank you. Yes, I spent all day until the early hours yesterday building my product review page and then trying to get the links to work properly that I got so tired and had to go to bed eventually. Yes, I hope support will be able to figure it out.

Just before contacting support I had one last look at the browser address and noticed what I thought was an error.

I have my Amazon affiliate account set up so that people can order the product from their own country's local Amazon market. Although I live in the UK, I sell on America's Amazon market place and when I click on my product I am redirected to my local Amazon which is the UK's Amazon.

If exactly the same product is listed then it will be displayed otherwise it will find the closest match otherwise I will get a message saying it cannot find the product.

I noticed the difference in the address because my UK affilite's member code shows up in the address bar and is slightly different from my America's affiliate code.

I am happy for you that you solved that issue.

Hi hennry, I have had the same issue trying to link to a Amazon page. If you link to specific products it works well. Maybe you can try and link to a specific product on Amazon. I have not figured out how to get to link a Amazon page and get it to work yet.

Thank for the help Mr T. One product shows ginger flavoured when it should be mint, but when I press the test link in WP. it appears correctly as mint. I'm sure that's not supposed to happen. I have so many affiliate links already in different blogs pointing to the same product and trying to use a technique from a lesson in course 3 to use a product review blog page and have my affiliate links on that page instead and then point the links throughout my website to that page's web address to stop Google from not ranking me or seeing my website as a bridge site; I think that's the term that was used; a site just used to sell products for another website and not providing out useful or helpful content.

I have not had that issue. Maybe need to contact Amazon support. Wish I had better answer for you. Wish you luck and hope you can get to the bottom of it

I was gonna ask if you were using your country's link or not. I know you can choose where you want your links to point. And if you have it set to different country then the one your in, there maybe some differences for sure. Well anyway I am glad you got it figured out. I wish you the best going forward.

That is really weird... Maybe you could try deleting them, refresh and then post them again Hennry

Thanks Peppino, yes very weird indeed. I have deleted the whole picture, deleted the links a few times also and pasted them back in. Refreshed with ctrl+f5 too. I've tried it on a different computer and also in a different browser and still getting the same result.

Ah Hennry! That makes sense! That is a bit of a problem though. It would be great if there was a way of connecting people to their own country Amazon link.

Do you reckon it would be the same with other affiliate programs? For example with Awin?
