Hi, I'm Phil. :)

I've been sceptical about affiliate marketing and other forms of making money online due to the number of scam operators selling get-rich-quick schemes. This has stopped me from actually trusting that there are people out there that really want you to succeed.

I signed up to WA to take the free training and I was so impressed by the honesty and quality of the content and the supportive community of members that I thought I'd give it a try.

I'm hoping to ultimately replace my day job with affiliate marketing so I can spend even more time with my family and give them the things that I can't afford right now.

Hello Phil,

I just want to let you know that I always enjoy seeing a smiling face.
I am the same way and I am about helping people was well.
My nickname is Phil also.
I hope to learn more and progress with more caring and sharing people.
I read your post about the live chat and I commend you for standing up to what some persevere as make believe as long as it is not them on the receiving end.

Hi Philemerson,

I couldn't agree with you more about some many scammers. It is starting to make some people very skidish about ordering products from small online entrepreneurs. I hope that some how without forcing some type of regulation on the web it can be cleaned up of some of this riff-raff scammers and make it safer for everybody (one day).

Honesty and the total package being offered is what sold me!

I love the fact that WA is exactly what Kyle & Carson said it is. I think too many people believe that you can get something without working hard for it. :)

Hi Philemerson,

That's because everybody and their brother is promising to make people filthy rich over night then when they realize its a total scam they act shocked and cry the blues. sure I fell for some scams but they were geared on training and website development like this site. I was taught a long, long time ago if it sounds to good to be true it most likely is.

Look forward to learning from in the coming year!

We have all been scammed. It is frustrating to fall for the hype but after awhile we all learn the smell of a scam.

You have found a source of training that gives you your money's worth and more.

when you need help, just ask your question. Some answers will be better than others, but I have never failed to get the help I needed.

Thanks Loes! I've already seen some of your training and blogs - they've been very helpful at times.

I've been around a little while, but I'm just getting caught up with doing the things I should have been doing a while ago. :)

Phil I am hoping to --- rather working to --- replace my full time job as well. Although right now I am working as much overtime as they'll allow me to get ahead of the curve my end game is to eventually make a break from corporate America. I say working to rather than hoping to because as far as I am concerned it's a done deal - the only thing that will prevent it from happening is death (morbid thought right) and since I cannot control that I am working to get it done. Learning and loving it! I am confident that you will benefit from every new 'thing' that you learn here. Let me know how I can help.

Kind Regards,
Have a blessed day!

Sorry for the slow reply Carl, I've been a bit busy with family life to pursue my affiliate goals!
I hope that you're making progress on your affiliate journey and that you're seeing results. I've just started again in a different direction once I re-evaluated my game plan. :)
Good luck!

I hope things are going well. I know you are getting rolling within the training and there is ONE thing that always tends to confuse people and that is "what is my niche?".

I know, same thing happened to me when I started.

I just wanted to reach out and let you know that I am here if you ever want to run any niche "ideas" by me or you have any questions about finding your niche.

Get back to me when you get the chance! :)

Yeah... I was a bit hung up on that one.
Then I had an idea - I've just registered a domain and created a new site called 'Pens For Doodling'. My plan is video reviews of pens I like to draw with, showing me drawing with them, of course.

This is the first solid niche idea I think I've had.

What do you think?
Reply

Yeah, I think that can definitely work. As you build out your website let me know if you need a hand with anything. :)

Phil, I see you are making some good progress through the Affiliate Bootcamp. Just wanted to pop by and see if you need a hand with anything?

I also wanted to mention the success rates of Bootcamp. Absolutely everyone that has taken action on all of the phases of Bootcamp has a business that is generating consistent income online. MANY of these folks are going to be at our super affiliate conference next year.

I want this to be you and I want you to succeed with your promotions. So, please promise me that if you ever need a hand or feel stuck as you move forward, that you will get in touch with me!

Trust me, I know things can be a little overwhelming sometimes and I don't want you feeling like that.

Anyways, just checking in. Get back at me if you need anything Phil.

Yup, I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed right now. I've created my new site (it's a daddy blog that I'm going to have a making money at home section on).

Do you mind taking a look and telling me if you think that's a feasible idea? It's at https://philemerson.com

It is overwhelming because you are trying to tackle every aspect of fatherhood all at once, you will want to narrow it down to a specific aspect. What specifically do you want to help fathers with, if you narrow down your overall concept, you will be able to have much more focus (not to say you can't diversify as you move forward).

Also, target keywords within every page or post.

Each page or post on your website should have a keyword focal point. Keywords are what lead to rankings and what lead to traffic. So when you are looking to come up with an idea for a new post, do some keyword research and find a phrase that is related to your niche.

As you build out your content and start getting rankings under these terms, you will see your traffic (and revenue) cumulatively grow. Just know that not every page will rank, but over time a good percentage will. The game of numbers!

Overall, I do like your design and your content is good, I just worry you are overwhelmed because you are trying to tackle everything father, which in itself is so broad that it will create this overwhelming sensation.

Thanks Kyle -

after I read your reply my initial response was, "how do I narrow down a daddy blog to a specific aspect?".

Then, as I re-read your post I had a thought - my second blog post is already showing a leaning towards 'fathers as teachers'. Admittedly this might be due to my teaching background but that might be an area I could focus on?

Thanks for your feedback - I realise you must receive lots of comments and questions from people on the site so your reply is really appreciated - particularly as it wasn't just a perfunctory few lines. :)

Since your suggestion, I've had a good think about things and realised I needed to be able to target a niche that I can more readily discuss working from home.

I also realised that my domain name was my own personal brand and possibly not an ideal way to drive interest towards WA.

Meet my new idea, fleshed out but missing posts and pages (for now)... https://parentathome.com

The website dedicated to helping parents at home feel less isolated and make money at home. Yup... my niche is stay-at-home parents that want to make money.

I'm feeling pretty good right now. :)

Cool, I like it. I think that is a very brandable, targeted and unique direction...but one that offers you a lot of scalability. I like it Phil!

Hi Kyle -

I just had a very disturbing exchange with the SiteRubix support team.

As you know, gathering email addresses and then sending people newsletters is one of the most effective ways to convert prospects into sales so I've been integrating MailChimp into my site to collect subscriptions.

MailChimp insist that I validate my domain by adding an SPF and DKIM TXT record to my DNS entry - something that's really easy to do as I've done it for my clients on a number of occasions (I'm a web-developer by trade).

Unfortunately, there's no way, now that I've changed my name-servers to Wealthy Affiliate, to edit the DNS record and when I asked your support team about it, they said they can't do it.

This means that I can collect all the email addresses that I like on my website but I'll never be able to send them an email!

I can't believe there isn't a solution to this - you have thousands of members and they must be able to send out newsletters without getting flagged as spammers.

I'm not saying I have to stick with MailChimp - I just want a solution that isn't going to cost me more money right now.

Phil

What entries specifically do you need to update and for what domain? Let me know here specifically and I will help you out.

We are going to be adding the ability to update the txt/mx/cname records for all domain email in the very near future here at WA (right within our UI), so this is most definitely something that is going to be coming soon.

Hi Kyle - that's awesome. I felt a bit of a douche moaning about it tbh as I love the platform and the inclusion of SSL by default!

Thanks again for doing your best to offer an absolutely sterling service!

MailChimp have specified that I need to add the following to the DNS records of my two sites:

-------------------------------
PHILEMERSON.COM

DKIM: Create a CNAME record for k1._domainkey.philemerson.com with this value:
dkim.mcsv.net

SPF: Create a TXT record for philemerson.com with:
v=spf1 include:servers.mcsv.net ?all

-------------------------------
PARENTATHOME.COM

DKIM: Create a CNAME record for k1._domainkey.parentathome.com with this value:
dkim.mcsv.net

SPF: Create a TXT record for parentathome.com with:
v=spf1 include:servers.mcsv.net ?all

I just spoke to the team, we offer MX record updates, but currently do not allow for CNAME or TXT record updates. This may be something that is offered in the future.

We have SPF already and you can find that within your domain settings.

Within SiteEmail:

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/websites/email

Go to your SMTP settings and you will be able to manage that there.

Kettei Premium
Um - I think there's some confusion here - SPF entries are TXT entries on the DNS table.

You mentioned going to the SMTP settings to manage these - but the SMTP settings are purely for sending emails from your email client software - they don't allow you to manage anything.

I looked in the domain settings and couldn't see anything there either. Oh well.

Thanks for trying anyway.

Yeah, the TXT and CNAME side updates are going to be handled within our new UI, which we are just in development with (the interface is developed, the technology is currently in late stages and it should be rolled out in the next 3-4 weeks here).

Hi Phil,

Welcome to WA. I sincerely hope that you get all you want out of your membership.

Apart from Kyle and Carson's training. Many of the top Ambassadors have excellent training. Other Ambassadors are more renown for their blogging.

If you click on your Rank button - top right, or click on the Ambassadorship link - bottom left-hand sidebar, you'll be taking to the Ambassador page. Here you will see the top Ambassadors.

Just have a nose around and follow some that pique your interest. Marion Black has some excellent training videos.

Take your own pace in working through the Certification courses and you be lead from one subject to the next and it will become clearer.

All the best,
Paul
