I would suggest - if you like working on Word (I do) then write and copy paste it to site content - I understand that you write most of your content at work, you can send yourself an email with the document and at home do the copy pasting in your computer.
I always use site content BEFORE transferring to WP because I like to check that my content is not duplicated etc...
Hope this helps, good luck

Use another program Dena as Word does not transfer well with any of their new versions. I have a Mac so I use a program called iAWriter and it uses plain text, which transfers over without any of the fancy nonsense. If you have a PC I'm sure there are other programs that will work just fine.
It is true that the newer version of word does copy and paste as easily as in the older versions, but it still works. I simply just use the default version of word and do a simple cut and paste...it has worked well to th8s point.
Sometimes I don't have that option as I will work on it at work and due to policy at work I cannot go on WA to work on it so I have to do it in Word.
Pasting it as unformated text might help...if that feature is still available on the updated version. Just right click after you copy and the drop down menu will have this option.

I tried doing this and it is ok but for some reason still have to retype the Headings as they come across with strange font until I retype them.
The same thing has happened to me...it must be a Word Press thing. As you are doing, I just retype them.
Hey Dena,
A friend of mine warned me that the newer versions of Word do not allow an easy copy & paste method anymore. Thankfully, I'm still using Word 2007 and it works perfectly for me.
You might want to give SiteContent a try: SiteContent - The Complete Walkthrough Hope this helps you.
I've not had problems. Usually use calibri, sometimes
ariel or times new roman. The only thing that might change is symbols
I have mostly been using Calibri and notice it causes issues, maybe I will try some of the others. thanks

I'm still so knew at sharing blogs. I'm not sure what pretty Links are, but I will find out. Thanks for the info.
Sandy
I personally use Pretty Link only for affiliate links so instead of seeing a code you see a customized permalink.
Internal and external links already have good looking permalinks.
A permalink is simply the URL.
It would look like this after the .com:
/search-engine-optimization/how-to-use-internal-and-external-linking-with-pretty-links
Instead of looking like this:
/25gsj83mmxpp009000
Which can be the case for many affiliate links.
Have to agree with Alan, I do need to go back and change a lot of my external links. Thanks for the reminder! Wayne
Pretty links is mostly used for affiliate links as it makes them look a lot cleaner. For other external links, you do not have to use pretty links.
For internal links you should definitely just leave them raw.
All the best,
Mikael
Thanks for your answer. When you say only affiliate links that is any link that directs the reader to an outside affiliate link from your website and not if you are linking to Wikipedia or something like that?

So maybe this is not the right term, but I am new here. I want to create a page that sends everyone from a blog that I want ranked in google to another page on my website that
Having a Landing Page with a link to another page is perfectly acceptable.
Yes you can make that other page Private with a No Follow, No Index and the search engines wont crawl it and so not rank it.
If you have nothing but links on the page then keywords wont be a priority either.
Have a great Saturday.

Thanks so much for answering my question I have looked every where and keep coming up empty.
So it would be best practice to have a page like this so google will still rank my website higher rather than having a ton of links. I know if says that they like links that are within your webpage but not so much to affiliate sites. So I was thinking if I can keep it hidden from google I would rank higher Is that correct?
If you make that Links Page a no follow etc etc (see pic) then it wont be crawled by the search engines.
It really is as simple as that.
You can make doubly sure by making it Private (see pic).
I'm off home now so if you are still stuck you can catch me later tonight (my time).
