I have a monthly subscription of Akismet $5 on one website. If I want to add the same plugin in another website do I have to pay $50 per month to have on more than one website?
I have akismet on all 5 sites and not paying, however it is on my to-do list to send them a gift when I will make money on my sites:)
Hi Bee! -
I have have never had to pay for Akismer!
As for do you require it - I would - say most defiantly!
Rememember - it comes preinstalled on all WA's - WordPress Websites.
Is it necessary to have akismet plugins on all websites?

I have a website hosted with vodahost for years and am sick of seeing this happening to me on few occassions. I did get in contact with support and they have solved the issue fa
I don't know what it could be, but I'm with Ben. Ask them what the issue is ever time it happens. You are paying for service, right? You need some!
Sometimes it could be something your using on your site like a plug in or the hosting service itself that is running software updates, it happens quite often. That's technology for you. :))
What causes the website not to open up?

I always check my email from WA friends that I am subscribed to. When I click on the link the site does not open, it advises me that My affiliate is not certified. Am confused.<
I'm having this problem with my phone. I check e-mail from my phone sometimes and this am, it said that WAs certificate was not valid and it warned me NOT to open a message from this site.
That's what I had too, strange. I had to accept the cert to make it work on the phone. Hope this doesnt cause any problems
Are you referring to the email notifications you receive when people you follow at WA make a post?
If so, perhaps check that your email notifications settings are ticked
at the bottom of this page here:

If you are referring to something else, can you please explain it a bit more?

Hi Jude
It seems to be working now. Yes it's the link that I am following and it opens to WA site. Don't know why or what happened but all ok now. Thanks for your response

What I want to know is while you're building content, building it up, tweaking around can you leave the website private until you're ready to show it publicy? If so this means y
I agree with giludi, until you publish your content, you won't know how you'll rank, so you can improve on it. You'll be excited once you see readers visiting your site. BUt that's up to you, at the end of the day.
If you really want to be private, there's another solution. You create an Under Construction page, don't put any menu. In the meantime you're working on your website. But honestly do you believe that any one knows you have a website? when you've finished your basic pages and written and published your first posts, I would go public, I would get my Google Analytics ID, and don't be afraid, a website is organic, it grows with you and in the beginning you will have only a few visitors a week.
Hey BEE, so I checked it out for you, and I found out that you can set the settings for each page and/or post you write to "private" on Wordpress. To do so, you need to go to your Wordpress dashboard, then edit the page you want to be private. Then you want to go on the top left of the page editor and you'll be able to see your visibility options for that page, in the "Publish" box. You just need to change it to "Private" and save right under, and then update the page.
It works the same for posts :)
I don't know it you can do it for the whole website in at the same time, like change this setting once only to hide the entire thing from the public... If anyone knows how to do that, can you explain it please? I'm sure it would be helpful to many people :)
I hope I helped you, and if you have questions, don't hesitate to ask me!
Thanks so much for this....not sure if private can be viewed by WA friends here for feedback but I have a feeling not
Beside the above mentionned way, there's another way to prepare your website: create a subdomain ( sub.yourdomain.com), prepare your whole domain and move it to your main domain.
If it's not available to the public, we can't leave feedback on it. I can tell you that a site typically doesn't start to see search traffic for about 3 months so there's little danger of people finding it.
That's why I believe you should publish content right away. It takes time to be crawled, indexed and ranked by the search engines.
At the top of your editing site, there should be text about 'Maintenance'. If Maintenance is on, the site is not public. When you toggle it to off, everyone can see it.

Hi I have been wondering about this for some time.
When people go on the website the last thing they want to do is click on menu then sub menu then select and click which seems
Opinions differ on this subject. I know there are people who don't use them for the reasons you just mentioned. I do use them on my site, and when I'm looking for information on other sites, I do search through the sub-menus.
Are sub menus too much to click through?
