I want to move a domain to WA. Where do I get the transfer code?

Hey Sherri Abie% AJ got you super covered. I would only add that, depending on your site and host, it can take a few days to completely transfer over to WA. Any hiccups Site Support has been very good at responding All the very best to you.
Hugh

If all else fails, Site Support may be able to help!

Thank you!

So very welcome.

Let us know how you get on.

Hi

You need log in current domain name registrar or where you registered your domain name under your domain you'd find your EPP authorization code.

You need this code to transfer your domain from one registrar to another.

You may transfer or point to WA servers (if transferring domain has to end in .com, .net or .org.

To update your domain DNS settings to point to WA. Here are the DNS settings.

ns1.mywahosting.com
ns2.mywahosting.com

These settings will be updated within your domain registrar (where you purchased your domain) after the transfer has taken place. To transfer your domain here you need login current registrar and fetch the EPP code, there's a one year charge of $14, privacy included. One year more will get added to your domain.

Also it has to have passed the grace period of 60 days.

Hi. I switched to the New Blog theme, but I can't figure out how to edit the scrolling grey boxes at the bottom. I thought they could be switched out with images that linked to

That looks like a scroll bar in the footer, is there an option for sliders in your customiser?

Yes. there's a text box option that says: UseBlankImageDisplay
When I uncheck it, the entire slider disappears?

What theme are you using?

It's called 'New Blog'

Ok let me have a look, just a minute

I think I might need to add a Widget to make it work.

The widgets are being added to a Footer Sidebar, rather than the slider. Any idea how to make the slider work?

Ok it works with your posts. Have a look Where it says select the post among, This gives me an alphabetical number of posts beginning with letters. If you choose a section that has the mumber of sliders you want to show it will show the featured image of those posts. If it sounds confusing come back to me

Hi. My website is currently alleviateheadaches.com. I would like to change my URL to three-sixtyfitness.com. I own the URL, I'm just not sure how to change it. Do I just need to

leoemery, has the correct answer for you Sherri.

I can't do the reverse? I don't have a site for Three-SixtyFitness.com right now, and I would rather not create a new one. I would like to re-name the siterubix site that is now alleviateheadaches.com to three-sixtyfitness.com Can I do that?

Set up another siterubix domain here.
Then follow the instruction here to move http://Three-SixtyFitness.com
and make it live.
How to Transfer a SiteRubix Website to Your Own Domain
Then follow Leoemery's advice.

P.S. that is some great content you have there. ;-)

I was afraid I'd have to do that. Ok. Thank you for the quick responses.

Hmm, except, if I do that, I'm still going to want Alleviate Headaches to point to the new site, until it is expired. Same issue?!

Yeh, you cannot piont from the hosting here.
You would need to host Alleviate Headaches
some other place to point it to Three-Sixty
I suggest http://www.1dollar-webhosting.com
You can get a great deal there to host for like
$12 per year. The hosting is great. I use it.

http://alleviateheadaches.com doesn't appear to be a siterubix site.

It is. I started it here.

I did move from siterubix to another domain and I had to copy contents rom one to another. Luckily I had not written many posts. I think Leo is right.

I believe you can change it using WP/Settings/general. Change the Site Address (URL) and WordPress Address (URL) to the url you want. I would be interested to know if that works for you. I am only guessing here since I have never done this. It does look as if it may work though.

That's what I was thinking, but I am nervous to try it...

You can always change it back :)

I am assuming that you don't want the same content on the other URL so you should be able to see both web properties from your site rubix button and start creating a website on the fitness site. You have access to both URL's

I do want the same content. I want to get rid of the URL alleviateheadaches.com (when it is up for renewal, I won't renew it) and make the same content reside at the new URL:
three-sixtyfitness.com

Sure you can go into the dashboard of your present site and perform a backup then install wordpress on your new site then restore the backup to the new site and it should be the same. Not sure why you want information about headaches on a fitness site but this way should do it

Thank you.

I have decided I don't want to write about headaches any longer. However, the information about headaches is helpful for people trying to better their health, so I wish to keep it. Three-Sixty Fitness is Mind, Body, Spirit - all issues relating to health.

Each URL is it's own identity - a piece of online real estate if you will. So just like when you buy a new house you simply move your stuff into that new house.

Same goes for a new domain (URL) There is nothing to change - you simply transfer your content to your new URL.

Hope that helps

You would need to obtain another domain name! First find out if it's available before you make any changes.

I already own them both.

You cannot change a website to another URL
They are two different pieces of property in th WWW
ken

Sorry, not the right wording for my question. How do I point
three-sixtyfitness.com to the site that is currently alleviateheadaches.com ? What do I need to do in WA to make it so?

Hi SSinson. This is covered in Level 2 lesson 6. May be in Tutorials under Developing Wordpress or somthing like that. Hope ths helps : )

You can forward your new domain to your old domain and MASK IT...so when someone goes to three-sixtyfitness.com, they will not see alleviateheadaches.com in their url bar...they will see three-sixtyfitness.com ALONG WITH ALL OF YOUR CURRENT CONTENT. That's the easiest way to do it in my opinion.

Yes! How? I am assuming I need to do something in WA. Just change the URLs on the Settings/General page in my WordPress?

No...don't touch those. Where did you get your domain from?

A local dude: clickandgowebsites.com. I have other URLs there, and a separate website there, too.

Login to your account...find your domain...click on forwarding...type in the url you want to forward to...click on forward & mask...save it...DONE. I use GoDaddy but it should be the same. Much easier than that other crap they're telling you to do.
