I have a domain name for a website that is long in keywords and is quite cheesy. It is 9 months old and has around 50 published pages/posts.

If you have both websites hosted at WA then you can use the "Move" button on the old website to move all the content to the new website. Keep the old website for a couple of months because the move will set up redirects.
so its all done automatically over time then? Do you know if it will do permanent damage too rankings?

have you done this move with one of your websites before? I will just move it to the new domain and continue using the same website theme to prevent any new theme issues with transfer.
The new site should be exactly the same as the old site after the move. Don't add anything to the old site after the move, just use the new site from then on.
It's all sorted out thanks. so yeah pretty shocked of the simplicity of this change. I was expecting a lot of complicating tasks ahead. Proof that WA is simply amazing!

In many WP themes, all you need to do is make an edit (however small) on the post in question and the date gets updated to whatever date you make the edit on (note: not all themes allow this though). Which solves the problem of an 'old' post ...

Yeah, any 'hosting' email platform will not offer the same level of spam protection that the likes of a gmail will provide. You want to utilize email forward and this way you can centralize communication from all of your websites in one place as well as leverage the top email platform in the world, gmail.
This is how I set up to send and receive email in gmail form my domain specific email addresses: Send & Receive Domain Email via Gmail - Updated 2015
WA has expert spam protection in place. This may be leaking through on a site Email platform. Be sure of your e-mail service provider.

I don't want to risk changing my website theme to another at this stage of my business. Then figure the new theme is no good for me and go back to my original.

Changing a theme can cause pictures, videos, headings and other formatting issues to become out of place and in some cases corrupted. This can even happen to a slight degree when upgrading an existing theme, as happened to me when I upgraded my theme the last time.
But for what you are asking and for what happened to me, is why I now always use and always recommend that others do too, is to have a test website that has almost an exact copy of your current website, minus most of the content, so you can make changes to it. WordPress Website Building Tips - Why I Use a Test Website By using a test website you can do updates and theme changes to it to see how it will effect that which you have on your main website, without risking anything from being broken. But regardless of whether you use a test website like I and others do, you should always back up your current website before making any theme changes.
Hi Ben, there is likely to be a change to the look and feel of your content if you change your theme. the content will still be there but it may not look the same on the different theme.
The only time I have found you really have trouble is if you change to a drag n drop builder type theme.
If you are unsure then do a back up of your site so you can re-install if you need to, should do this anyway.

Do it as soon as possible. I was thinking the same way and I am now at 280 posts and pages and I hate my theme.
Yes many things can go wrong, picture galleries in mess, tables in mess, widgets in mess, menu unrecognizable. That is why I was waiting instead of changing immediately.
