Link-building is one of my (extremely) weak points when it comes to running my websites. In light of this, I would love to know what methods each of you utilise in your link-bu
Hey Tony, I understand the training here doesn't encourage much on backlinks : Are Backlinks Good for Rankings? Nope. Some reading here : Inbound Link Building 101: 33 White Hat Ways to Build Backlinks for SEO Internal Links and Backlinks
I don't use links on my site unless it's "resources" for my niche. I only use my site link on social media. I have to admit that I'm still a beginner but it works fine gor me.
As a general rule, WA training suggests focusing on content and SEO rather than link building. I imagine some more advanced members do link building too but it generally isn't encouraged.
One of the biggest issues is just that it is very easy to get links wrong and you can end up penalizing your site if that happens. In contrast, if you don't link build, you can still easily be successful with enough time.
Hi,
what kind of links are we talking about?
Backlinks, I guess.
To be honest, I don't do active backlinking at all.
There are many here on WA that say that backlinks are overrated nowadays.
The only place where I put my links myself is on Facebook or other social media.
Where it makes sense, you can participate on forums and leave links. Just make sure it is allowed.
What I do a lot though is internal linking.
I do this as much as possible, without making it look spammy.
So I put links in when I answer comments on my site.
And I link between my articles and posts.
Cheers
Moritz
Hi Moritz
Yes, I meant backlinking.
I already do everything you mention above re internal linking, etc. My thinking was that if my content was good enough, natural links will come. Well, I can tell you for a fact, you'll wait a hell of a long time for this to happen. So I wouldn't say backlinks are over rated. If the guys over at MOZ still talk about back linking efforts, then that's good enough for me I guess.
HEY ANTHONY, I FIND YOUR COMMENTS VERY INTERESTING, I HAVENT REALLY GIVEN THE WHOLE LINKS THING MUCH THOUGHT.....ARE YOU TALING MORE FOR BOOTCAMP SITES OR YOUR SITES IN GENERAL ? XOXOX TO YOU AND YOURS
There's plenty of info online regarding the topic. I suppose, at the end of the day, everyone has to make their own decision. Good luck :)
