28 Day Instagram Update March 2017
It has been a month (28 days) since I reported in on the progress with Instagram on our Fitness Niche. So time for the March 2017 Instagram update. Below is the screen shot from this afternoon
Results for last month
- We have increased followers from 585 to 632 .. this is + 8% in one month .. ok, but only half of the previous month growth. I am still ok with that as you can read below.
- Our target of 4 Posts per week we missed badly with only 10 total.
- Average "likes" per post is 32.7 which is about 5.5% .. down on last month .. but we had three low performing Posts and a pattern emerging.
- Average comment per Post is 1.7 which I think is an improvement but clouded by last months unusual statistics.
- The 10 Posts had an additional Reach on Facebook of 4480 per Post which 35.3% (our Facebook Page Likes are 12,863). This is up significantly compared to last month. In fact the last five posts of the 10 averaged 5306 which is 41.7% .. these are super crazy numbers, even at 28-29% our numbers are crazy.
What we changed from the previous month
- We missed the target of number of Posts significantly.
- We did not have a major "Fitness Party" event, in the previous period we had two. Some of last months new followers may have come from our offline promotion of "Follow us on Instagram" at the Events.
Further comments
The Instagram learning continues.
I noticed that on the days that we did Posts we had more new followers.
A pattern in Posts is starting to emerge. If you notice from the statistics, the Posts that had Hesti in them (marked with a H) performed better than those that did not.
I am thinking Instagram may not be a key Social Media strategy for us. We will continue because it provides the Posts into out Facebook Page. From additional research I have done, Instagram may not be the best match for our Niche and our demographic.
I will make a decision on this by next month.

LOL .. well Darren it is a good point you raise. And it depends on the market. I want to launch internationally but that is another story and for that Instagram maybe a good choice in future.
Our market place is Indonesia. According to the statistics (and it depends on whose statistics one looks at) Indonesia is the worlds 4th largest user of Facebook, 3rd largest Twitter user and it is only 12th largest Instagram user.
In the USA there are more Instagram users than Twitter users where as in Indonesia there are 3 times more Twitter users than Instagram users.
