About Lynnsam61
Joined October 2015
I am an outgoing, and social person who also enjoys curling up with a good book and binge-watching Netflicks episodes on a quiet week-end.

I love to travel and for the past couple of decades have been back and forth to CA where I was born and raised (I still love you Santa Barbara!) to New York where I raised my three children with my husband Rob. Now that the youngest is off to college I am taking advantage of the opportunity to explore the rest of the world!

When I am not working, I can most likely be found on the tennis court where I'm either playing league tennis or coaching junior tennis. I also volunteer at a group home for "at-risk" teenagers and enjoy being a monthly film club.

Looking forward to connecting with others at WA and helping each other along the way!

Erica

10/31/16 Update: I no longer binge-watch Netflicks or even watch TV much anymore. Too busy. I still love to read and listen to audio-books I've been traveling quite a bit over the past year and would like to be spending more time in CA in 2017. I love the fact that I can continue working on my website from anywhere:) I'm considering selling the business that I started over 20 years ago (I'm an employee benefits insurance broker) and have gotten several offers I'm considering. It's a tough decision since I've had many of my clients for 15 years or longer and have developed a close relationship with them, but it's a field that's changed significantly and one that I no longer enjoy.

Hi Gary,
Happy to meet you and thanks for reaching out. You made me realize that I need to update my profile, after I finish more pressing matters like taxes. Yes I've kept my insurance business going since it's very little effort on my part, really just responding to existing client's needs. I've also started creating my own perfume line. All the best to you!

Good Morning Erica,

I started with WA half of Jan. last year. I did the first course and did not understand much of it as I am hopeless at technical things. Now, after nearly 1 year I will understand it all. I will redo them quickly and then continue to course 2.

Greetings from the south of Spain, Taetske

Hi Erica, I have had to resubscribe due to a small problem I had and was locked out but the only way I could get back in was through making another profile. I am waiting to hear when I can get back into my old profile of Chez Brown. Just in case you think I am someone new as a lot of people are doing. xxx

Good Morning Cheryl,

I found you just because of going over to Erica's profile.I know you have turned back to your old naughty self. I have not started my lessons yet but at least done quite a bit of comments and feedback and have started to write again for my websites.
Hope you are well, probably cold up there. Patsy told me she froze with more than -20C.

Greetings from the, hurray, rainy south, Taetske

Your bio inspired me and to help you make that decision of whether to sell your business or not...?

I've always sided on the unknown risk side of entrepreneurialism because it's there that the new skills, exercising faith muscles and all the other exciting things happen in this life. And yes, there is the painful side of good-byes, failure or letting go of what's comfortable. Hope you achieve all the greatest prosperity in 2017!

I love Santa Barbra, used to go camping a lot above Cachuma lake back in the 80s and 90s. Now the lake is no more, ug. Hey did you ever stop in at the old stage coach at the top of Hwy. 154, well under it I mean. I have seen some wonderful local talent there enjoy a buger, fries and a cold one. Fun times.
Here is a pic of the reservoir on Hwy 166 in March of this year on my way back from Pismo Beach and Santa Maria.

Hi Cali,
What a beautiful photo! Yes of course I think you must be talking about Cold Spring Tavern. I was there with my husband and two of our kids last year, it's an institution! Many will be sad if that ever closes.

Hi,

I was checking out your profile and saw that you have a passion for travel.

Take a look at my niche to see what my wife and I are doing. We are House Sitting The World. We started out by taking vacations doing it and decided to sell everything and do it full time@

Aye Erica - Seems we've more than WA in common (kinda). I too am a tad traveled and own a home in Lompoc, CA. (bought while active duty Air Force @ Vandenberg AFB. Still think of Santa Barbara as my West Coast backyard having spent many an hour at the 'Ice Patch' on Cliff Drive. The rink was never too populated. I am native 'northern' New York having grown up along the shores of the mighty St. Lawrence River and nearly daily excursions to Oh Canada. Bridge was literally a few blocks away from our childhood home.
Good luck with your travels, and the decision you're encountering respective to your business. Remember, the comfort zone is a place to visit while confronting F E A R -- False Evidence Appearing Real. If you no longer enjoy the racket, pick up the other racket and serve up aces in your new 'traveling business(es)' -- Wishing you and yours the best. Be Well, Be Safe, & Be YOU!

Wow, we do have a few other connections! My dad was actually stationed at Vanderberg long before you were. I used to love ice skating at the "Ice Patch" which closed a long time ago I'm pretty sure. Good luck to you as well:) Life is all about changes and reinventing yourself.

Hi Lynn. Totally understand and empathise with you. I've been in Optometry/ Optics for nearly 25 years, and it is not the same profession now as when I started. I just feel like a commodity these days.
I see you coach sports too. It's good to give back. I'm only an "amateur" coach. Wish I was a professional. Hey ho, there ya go!

Hi Francis,
Thanks for the follow. I think that many of us are in the same boat and looking for change. Coaching is something I enjoy but I especially enjoy coaching kids (most of the time, except when they're being super bratty). Happy holidays and see you around:)

Thanks for the follow back Erica, much appreciated. I coach young men, boys really, but it's enjoyable and occasionally frustrating, but it's up to us to develop them further, and I love it.
Happy holidays, Best Wishes, Francis.

Hello Erica, thanks for following me back :) I am originally from New York and my husband is from California. We have also raised 3 children back and forth on both coasts. Hope you are enjoying your "me" time - so important! I know what you mean about bingeing, very hard to resist lol!

Hi Coraline,
Sounds like we have several things in common right off the bat! Where are you living now? We are thinking of relocating back to CA since most of my family lives in or near Santa Barbara and we have two kids living in the LA area. We were just in LA visiting our son who's a student at USC. I checked out your profile and we have several interests in common as well :)

I am living just outside Sacramento and used to live in the S.F. Bay area. I have family in Queens and Long Island and lived in both places too. I really like upstate NY more than the metro area but do really love CA! I have never been to L.A. or Santa Barbara but hear it is beautiful. I'll be going to San Diego in a couple of weeks with my daughter to look at the UC there. Last week we were in Sonoma and next week it's Berkeley. Busy! Glad to connect with you :)

I remember those college visiting days. I graduated from UC Berkeley in '83 (when it was easier to get into!). My daughter graduated USC on 2014 and my oldest son will be graduating from Vanderbilt in 2018. I go out to CA often because my daughter, youngest son, mom and sisters all live there.
If you have any questions about colleges feel free to reach out:)

Thank you :) It sounds like you have lots of reasons to move back. Berkeley has an amazing campus, just beautiful. I look forward to putting more time into my training and making more progress when all this is over. But it is fun :)

It is a process for sure! It's go at your own pace which works for me. I have another business that takes a lot of my time so slow and steady is my motto. I am hoping to sell the other one as soon as I'm making a decent income here:)

Hi Erica

I too am seeing my youngest go off the college. Exciting times right? Many thanks for commenting on my blog on the notes from Jay's webinar. That was very kind of you. I am now following you. How is everything going so far with WA? I will have to check out your website My Fabulous Fragrance - sounds like a perfume company?

Stay in touch! :)

Hi Steph,
My "baby" is off to his second year so not as traumatic! He's my third so we've been empty-nesters for a while. My website is a work in progress since I also have a business where I'm making a decent income not web-based. It's a juggling act. My blog is about my love of perfume, not selling my own there (yet).
Good luck to you! The first child out of the nest is the hardest!
