Hi folks

I'm in the midst of compiling (and reviewing) a checklist of the "must have" plugins and "must do" items when setting up a WordPress website.

Jay has a great webinar on this, where he talks about his "must have" plugins list: Hope this helps!

Great Idea! I like WordPress edit myself.

I think for the time being I'll use Jay's recommendations, bot i will also look at yours. Thanks

see you have all the one's I use , it is not so much how many plugins you use it is what impact do they have on your site load

Beside the named ones, I want to add the WP Gallery Custom Links, but only when you add pictures in a gallery setting, you can add to each picture a different link

- share buttons
- seo
- caching
- list bulding
- database cleaner/optimizer
- anti-spam
- contact forms

Hi Paul, Kyle talks about the basic plugins that come with the siterubix websites. SEO all in One, Akismet, Si Capiia, and Google Analytics.

As you build your site you will want plugins for your specific needs.
Always research the plugin by checking reviews. Don't just go by the stars.
Jay has a good training on plugins and offers his favorites.
It has been suggested to check the author's coding as it will tell you
how much he cares about the success of his plug in.

Marty

Thanks Marty. Had gone through the training previously. The idea behind this is to look at the plug ins that others are using. I'm planning to break these down into categories for easy reference...

Good idea

I'm not any expert but I would say WP Edit is the one that is imperative. It offers all the simplicity in formating the text content inside your post.

Hey Paul, I am not anywhere near it and bumbling around. My wife is somewhat apprehensive about this whole thing and that doesn't help really either. I will eventually get to everything and get organized. Right now I am trying also to get "the hang" of WP.

Hi Paul. Most essential come through lessons in Certification Courses, there is no much to choose. I can guess you have collected at least 8 of them if you have passed all lessons. Everything outside of it is a personal choice, dependent on preferences and niche.

Probably there is no point of telling you what extras are necessary for me, but here they are: one to make my theme mobile friendly, one to enlarge photos. one to add tags and category to pages etc.

Hi

I got an email pushing some article spinning software. After looking through the offer and actually understanding what "spinning software" does, I'm actually shocked

If it ain't your original stuff, don't do it.

You can do article spinning for free by using Google Translate:

1. Find an article that's written in English.

2. Use Google Translate to convert it to German.

3. Use Google Translate to convert the German version to Spanish.

4. Use Google Translate to convert the Spanish version back to English.

You'll end up with a totally incomprehensible, but thoroughy spun, version of the original article. (And yes, this post is a bit of sarcasm -- I detest spinning tools.)

Haha!!!! But how true!!!

Wrong!

I like what Harry and Katie have to offer on this topic.

Thank you, I was wondering the same thing! I checked out some free ones. They just replace words with different synonym! You still have to read through the article to see if it makes sense.

I used spinners before and they are really effective when it comes to generating backlinks to your website. I believe they still work when it comes to boosting your ranks in serps but I would not advise you do it because it carries a lot of risks.

If I would ever use spinning again, I would spin the article at a really high level (this in itself is very tedious), use it only for low competition niches and in sites that you won't have any deep attachment to in case you get filtered. hehe.

Thanks! Great to hear from an actual user! I wouldn't use it personally.... Just doesn't feel authentic but that's just me...

Btw, what's the name of the software? I might write a review about it.

Spin Rewriter

what are the risks? I believe the worst that can happen is Google not rank that specific article. From what I know, Google will not penalize your whole site if you have duplicate content. Not sure about that?

I would not recommend this as it is always best to have you own written work, and when your too busy you can always use a service like fiverr.com you would not want to loose the trust of you visitors

Article spinning? Definitely a non-starter. If you must use PLR that is relevant to you niche make sure it is not outdated and only use it to get ideas. Then you need to rewrite it in your own words to make it unique. Hope this helps.

Article spinning software was popular when quantity was more important than quality but search engine algorithms have changed. It's really not a good idea to use them anymore.

I am on the verge of buying the software too. However on second thought, I was afraid that all websites with the same niches will have the same design and that may get us into copycat issues with amazon or google. From the review of the sogtware, it seems a bit difficult too. Can anyone comment?

To me it sounds like some trash tool not worth any money. Good themes have good reputations, and you will hear about them from authoritative people. Content spinners? Not so much.
