Sorry Warner, I don't do "blessings" because I am a convinced atheist, not condemning "believers" but leaving them a lot of room!
As for this forum, it took up way too much of my time and effort which I have redirected toward my website with limited success thus far. One #1 spot and three #2 spots on Google.
Otherwise, I wish you all the success you seek and need.
Good Blogging!

I thought 'blessing' was a neutral term, meaning more than success. My excuses! Due to the fact my motherlanguage is Dutch, I use sometime words, tha have in Dutch a different connotation than in English.
Reply
Mike1942 Premium
No need to apologize Warner! My mother language is German! I have the same problem! I am just sick and tired of the American Bible-thumpers spouting their "intelligence' and thy end everything with "god bless", in my book the same as "bless, blessing and all that brainwash". That and the Sumerian Swindle is the subject of my website and I'd be damned if I could get some better traction with it. I know that there are many more people out there who are of the same mind as I but they are scared to voice their opinion because it is "not popular" and does not make "friends" easy.
I can tell for sure because I do not have "friends", just acquaintances!
Sorry, I didn't mean to sour your day, this is just my opinion and I am not telling anyone to do the same!
Have a wonderful day anyway and don't worry about my opinions!
I already hear some people on this forum say: What a mixed up guy! Well, think again buddies! It is not I who is mixed up!
Boy, did I ever open a can of worms here

Hi Fred, sorry for the late reply. I am busy promoting my website and that leaves me little time for the forum now.
Yes, free energy is a passion of mine. Not so much from the technical standpoint, as from the promotional side.
I do understand some of the more complicated ways of generating free energy but do not have the resources to ever try it out.
If you want to discuss more of it, please give me a shout on the Private channel.
Thanks

I do need to qualify this statement. I got first place for three of my keywords.
This is more complicated than one can explain in the first excitement.
One keyword gave me the first three positions on that page! Not quite as exciting as it sounded first. the other two keywords gave me position 2 on page 1 and the third position 49 on the 5th page. Quite a bit different. But still nice!
WA works! Thank you all!

I love it. This is a great community with many giving and caring people. I am learning more than I ever thought possible, and I am trying to figure out how to be a good IM. I also like to hear from straight talking people like yourself that will not sugarcoat the facts.

Thanks,
Mikes
Reply
Mike1942 Premium
Yes Mike i am not use to "sugar coat" things and do not react much to all that Xmas cheer and so on. To me Christmas is there to make me poorer and the merchants richer. I also don't care if my site is not ready for the season. It has all of next year to make a splash. Taking it easy is the motto. It won't run away!
Anyway, this is not the spot to discuss my wants and needs, What are you up to? It looks like the same as I am, supplement the pension and make enough money to travel a bit yet. I have formally retired this year in May but am on pension for the last 13 years. We just got to watch out with our name, we are not the only Mikes here. I heard there is a Mike club in Florida somewhere.
So, let's get at it and learn whatever we can about mainly Ranking and SEO. This is utmost important when wanting to make real money with this gig.
All the Best to you and Yours, Mike1942

Hi Mike,

I finally took the time to pop over to your site and have a read of your bio! Wow what an interesting life you have led! From the many areas you have been in and the different jobs and the business, you really have experienced a full life!

I did the opposite - I was raised in Minnesota and Ontario as a kid and left at 17, after high school - joined the Army and stayed in 25 years...Retired a little over 17 years ago from that and went into business...

Our relatives ranged from Winnapeg (Manitoba) to Wisconsin (although we fro the Minnesota branch don't claim them because they are Green Bay Packer fans (kidding)...

Almost all of my time has been spent overseas, although I did at one point or another have houses in Minnesota and Florida as well, but I sold them long ago. I also did a couple of stints over there serving in a couple of nice assignments...

After so many years overseas, I just felt more comfortable in Germany.though, and I made a decision about 4 years before retiring I was going to stay in Europe - it sure wasn;t for the weather lol, but it still was a lot better than the colds of the plains in North America!

Most of the time in the service I was Germany (how ironic hehe) where I eventually built a house outside of Frankfurt Am Main...Bought some more rental property on the outskirts of Frankfurt...etc.

Lots of those years in the military I was in hot spots away from Germany, but I pretty much parked the family in Duetschland, and oh yeah, we moved 14 times in those 25 years too. I saw more of Germany than most Germans do...

After retirement I got busier than I ever was in the military, and got paid a heck of a lot more too lol! Since that time of my life, I have been in the Middle East (as a civilian), in Asia and other parts of the world operating buinesses/doing consult work...

Great to meet you and your warnings about health are starting to hit close to home, I am about done with my 50's - less than a year and they will be history! Eyes failing, bones aching, no more marathons, etc. Thanks for reminding me - I need to take better care of myself (too late?)...

Cheers!
Dave : )

Mike1942 Premium
I couldn't even give the time of day compared to your life experiences. You did all right what I did wrong, obviously! Concerning health, It just is too late and we can just ease the pain and learn to live with it!
The only things I ever did in Frankfurt is land by plane! Otherwise my "playgrounds" were Heidelberg Mannheim, Karlsruhe , Baden Baden, Stuttgart, Lake Constance (Ueberlingen and Lindau), Munich, Lake Sternberg. Augsburg, Nuremberg, Lager Lichfield, Petersen, UpJever, Wilhelmshafen, Hamburg (where I saw the Beatles before they became famous, at the Top Ten Club on the Reeperbahn and now wished I had had a camera) and many smaller places in-between. I never could go into East Germany because i had a US Confidential degree and was prohibited to go anywhere but fly into Berlin with six month notice! All this before I immigrated to Canada. This is nothing compared of what you have done! I am sure you had a much higher security degree, with all the stuff you describe above. I am here in Canada for the last 50 years and have travelled extensively from job to job and seen more of the country then many "natives"! Too long a story to out here! Every place has a long story attached to it which would make it several books long.
I can see from your story up on top here that this applies to you too and would be extremely interesting.

I haven't done much of the training because it is too confusing for me. All this modern stuff is getting to me! My site is being build/outsourced and then I have to learn how to administer it! I have enough problems trying to learn about my Mac now, switching from that stupid PC and Microsoft where you never end spending, after they(whoever they are) insert "bugs" into the program. There was just no end to that! This PC has found a place in the closet now!

Thanks for the kind woeds Suz. Yes, there is no point wallowing in what has happened, it very rarely changes and it affects ones whole life. So I always look forward with a few less senses. But in the overall I do need to adjust to the new realities in myself and especially around myself which are worrying me quite a bit. Just look at the Climate Change conference in Paris. What a crock! The same thing over and over again; Talk, Talk, Talk and no real Action, like usual. The world is going to h... in a had basket and they talk for the last 55 years. What a bunch of losers!
That is part of why I am here. It gives me a platform to voice my opinions in a little stronger fashion. And yes, my future website will be "different" to say the least!

Hi Mike
Are we the only pair on the site over 70?
To my younger pals who question as to why I am not so energetic as a few years back I say 70 is a line in the sand ,step over and the body does not respond as it did, c'est la vie.
No complaints really though, my wife however complains that I am going deaf,as I don't always hear what she is saying. I would be in trouble if she finds out that my hearing is selective !
Anyway I am digressing, I am new to the site and no real ideas so I will go through the papers and then make a decision.
I wish you well in your endeavours, and will keep in touch.

John

Hey John, you couldn't have put it any better! I got selective seeing to boot. I have one eye and that has big problems. But my wife and many people don't know what I can see and what not. I still have a heavy equipment operators license but wouldn't dare!
I think there are a few more members here over 70 but I am not sure; plenty around 60. That should count too, experience considered. The "young" people obviously don't have much of a clue what life is supposed to be about but they sure beat the pants of us old fogies when it comes to computers, don't they. I really don't want to get into that subject here, for obvious reasons.

Hi, glad to meet me, lol.

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for following me. I’m pretty impressed with WA training and I think we have found a gold mine of information. Hmmm, seems like geniuses like us tend to gather in the same place (lol).

You made a good choice coming to WA. I started making money online in 2004. WA wasn't around back then. I had to learn from scratch. What took me 2 years to accomplish online, you will be able to do in a couple of months if you are new to affiliate marketing.

The wealth of knowledge here in the tutorials and the help from fellow WA members is exceptional. I have never met a bunch of like-minded people who are so eager to help.

When I came to WA in February, I was skeptical. Seen enough online scams in my time. I searched high and low for "the catch." There was none. I learned WA is legitimate. There is no pressure to upsell me more products or services. That was refreshing.

Anyway Michael, here’s wishing you all my best for your success with online marketing. Please feel free to send me a private message if there is anything I can do for you.
You can send me a private message if you have questions by going to my profile and clicking on the private message button; https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/grampamike

You may also want to check out my WA profile blog posts as there is some interesting and informative information there.
Here’s a little inspiration: Update: I wanted to mention that all my recent posts on my website get ranked in the top 5 for my keyword or keyword phrase. So study the tutorials here at WA. They hold the clues for getting top ranking for your web pages.

Need some pictures for your website? Check out my post.

Hello Theuns, Morning has just started here and you are just about done with the day. Thanks for the follow and I reciprocated the favour. You might have misread my "intro", judging by your comments above. I read your short biography and we are about as far apart, as our locations. I am totally ant-military and establishment (as they call it). I have done quite some research on human history and realized that we have been brainwashed ever since day one when the Adamu was created. The brainwashing never let up and is at it's peak today. Once I get my website out you will understand what I am talking about. It will be about this theme and the people who have made waves on that subject. And I am not a very structured person; more like a walking disaster. But id you want to stay in touch, by all means. I have another friend in South Africa by the name of Michael Tellinger. He is another person making a lot of difference in this world of ours, the hard way But he is absolutely amazing in his ways.
If you are still interested than please send me a Personal Message.

Hello Michael, Welcome!
Nice to meet you, I wish you a lot of learning pleasure and fun on WA. Thank you for following me.

From the start I have written trainings for every issue I had problems with myself. You can find them on my profile on the right (click on my picture).I also made a checklist to go through before you publish a post. I hope to help you with those.

Success building your business. See you around, Greetings Loes
Reply
Mike1942 Premium
Hi Loes, Thank you for the Welcome! I appreciate your intentions. I have physical issues that make it difficult to follow "normal" protocol and adapt to societies "pressures".
I have found my own way of doing things and one of them is, not to follow checklists too closely! I fly things by the seat of my pants and create a lot of controversy, in this way getting my ideas exposure and notice. In other words, I am a Contrarian by profession and proud of it. Once my website will be ready, you will see what I mean. I think it will start a lot of "issues" on the internet and in the process will be seen by many people (then, on the other hand, it might not). There are many ways to skin a cat! (b.t.w. I have two of my own and they both are licensed!).
But all in all, I am not the teaching kind and not one to tell others how to do things in their lives, nor would I want to. All my life I have done things "My Way"!

I have a life long experience on your subject and lifestyle. We should talk privately.
My website is not ready yet and far from it. It is being constructed by someone who doesn't have an idea what I am talking about and I am anxious to find out what he is coming up with.

I had( have) many ideas for niches and just stuck to the one pretty much following my profile. I thought this out and took this route because I didn't want to deal with inevitable trolls and spammers that comes with a lot of subjects these days. Of course, no one site on anything is immune to that, but it does reduce stress to stay away from anything that is political, social, economic or all of them, :) It's hard to write about one without including the others. But if you are up to it, I say go for it, just have excellent spam control first, :)
Also, try to keep as much "hands-on" with your site development. I am doing this and believe me , it is waaaaay beyond my comfort level, but at least I am in 100% control, even if it is not going anywhere , :)...for now....

Hi Mike... Expo '67, heh? I went there on a school trip. I was 10 and was very impressed by the futuristic "monorail" system. How time flies... Good times, good times. I grew up in Saint-Jovite in the Laurentians and wound up about an hour east of Grande Prairie for the best part of the last 20 years. I just love how it is such a small world after all, meeting people unexpectedly all over the map :)
Reply
Mike1942 Premium
Hey Linda, Yes it is a small world indeed. I could tell you a story or two about that. I also used to work ( briefly) at ROMA, west across the bridge from Peace River, way back in the sixties also. I have lived in Alberta since 1968 pretty well, with a couple of brief breaks, one to Sault Ste. Marie and the other to Fort Nelson. I used to finance my travels with short term jobs, here and there!
Here at WA so far I am stuck with my website, but I bought a website through my up-line for $399 USD and they are working on it. I do not have enough time to figure out the intricacies of WordPress because I am in the middle of renovating our house (Mobile Home); it has been a renovation for twelve years in the making. Now were I have "retired" I need to do something physical, not to deteriorate. Well, my website will stir up some controversy and that is o.k. because more people will view it then.
Well, I wish you all the best here at WA and hope you will make it to the money making part soon! Mike1942

Hey Daniel, good meeting you. You could be my stepbrother, his name is Daniel and he is 13 years younger then I am. I served in the German Air Force (60/64) and then immigrated to Canada. I am still here! No questions though. I was into electronics for quite some time but never understood the real basics of it. Nobody thus far could make me understand the BASICS. I can read blueprints and wire circuit boards (my vision allowing) but I wouldn't know what the circuit do and what they are for. Just recently I built myself a little Scalar device, about 30 watt but due to my bad vision it is not working yet. A friend of mine, he is an Electronic Engineer, is going to look at it and will try to fix it.
Well, it's good talking to you; there are so many real interesting people in this Wealthy Affiliate Program here, it must be extremely good!

Hello Mike1942 - Electronics is simply controlling the flow (pressure and volume) of electrons. Water flowing through a hose or a pipe can be used as an analogy to explain the workings of many electronic components... You and I are eight(8) years apart and that's interesting because I have a half-brother born in '42... Get your WA Affiliate link and start passing it around... It's good Daniel to break my monotony. I just fell asleep on the computer because I am stuck right now. I think that I am getting into too many things at the same time. Will correct that soon. Tomorrow is Friday already and I just got too much to do. Renovating the Kitchen, building websites, cleaning out my sheds and I just managed to get $2500 USD back that a company scammed off me.
If you want to have a look then here is my URL: www.itisallaboutmoney.com

Hello Mike1942 - Looked at your site and you have a good start... A little polishing will help improve but that can be done later... "Have you ever been scammed" needs completed and from what you just replied to me, you'll have a lot of info to share... There are warnings in training that you shouldn't have too many URL links to the WealthyAffiliate.com... I noticed you send the visitor to the VIDEOS website - is there commissions involved with that? I didn't examine it to determine that... Also, (minor) when you're programming a link I would suggest putting a check-mark where it opens another browser tab... Otherwise, they'll have to backspace to get back to your site...But your "nut-shell" summary of the WA experience is accurate and the visitor can simply click your link and learn all the info they need where all is written in a professional and polished manner... Best wishes for now, from Danielll

Thank you Daniel, your advice is very valuable to me and I am working on revamping things some more. For the present I am much to deep into that SEO stuff (I think it is somewhat automatic in WA websites) and it is way to early to even think about it anyway. I just listened to lesson 6 of Kyle's training and found out a few things that make me reconsider to "publish" too soon. I will have the site out and on Google, just for kicks I guess but it will perform very poorly yet. Until I get everything into place, I guess, I will keep my credit card in my wallet!

Hello Theresa, I left my comments on your beginners website. Not too bad a site but needs tweaking. And the same for your second page. Maybe you can interlink them and gain more points with Google also!?

This is my comment for you Mike.
I really like you're site. You are off to a great start the only suggestions that I will make are first instead of having your review under uncategorized, you should make a category called reviews or something of that sort and on your about me page, you should definitely consider adding a personal photo so that your readers can get an idea of who the person behind the site is. All in all great Job

Hey Mike. I saw your questions on Kyle's profile and I just want to offer you help if there is something I can do for you. I am rather technologically challenged but I've been here a while. Perhaps I can answer things from a newer person's perspective.

I sympathize with the eyesight thing. I virtually live on the computer and recently have had some health problems AND eyesight problems along with them, which makes everything so much harder.

I just read some stuff by a neurosurgeon doctor named jack kruse (jack kruse dot com) where he said a lot of health issues come from lack of natural light, particularly in the early part of the day, and for the last week I've been getting up and looking RIGHT AT THE DAWN and I swear my highest reader glasses are too strong now AND I'm feeling more energy and less pain.

Let me know if you need help and I'll let you know if I'm able to help ok? -Alexx

Hi Alexx, I really appreciate your sympathy and I sympathise with you! Kinda see-saw thing!? I feel that it is stupid to feel sorry for oneself because it doesn't make things better. The reason why I mentioned my handicaps was to let my up-line know why I am goofing off and up, just in case. At least I have a reason now. In the overall I am trying not to and in that spirit I am finally away on my website but still with a heap of questions. For instance, how do I get colour to some of my words. WP has all the buttons for formatting the writing but a button for colour. Maybe I just haven't found it yet. It must be there somewhere then when I look at some of the other websites of more accomplished members, I am amazed of what they have dine. Even when it looks very complicated their websites are awesome. I am all for very simple layouts, easily negotiable and clear in it's intention but I'd like to add some colour. When my site is ready to be published, even if it is not finished, I'll ask for your opinion, o.k.! Right now I need to investigate how I am going to get some affiliate links on my site so I can make some money. Thanks much for your offer but I got to fight it out with myself!

Yeah nobody wants to come to a pity party HAHA Remember that poem, "A bird will fall frozen from a bough without ever having felt sorry for itself."? DH Lawrence I think. Love that.

I have tried to change font colors a few times and it didn't work. The one thing that did work for a FEW things was to go into my theme settings under APPEARANCE and then find the COLORS or FONT section and mess around with choices there. It's limited though.

Your link colors should be changeable, and that usually makes a huge difference in itself.

If in doubt, click every stinkin thing on your WP settings until you find something new.
And try searching in the bar above... type in COLOR and see all the various training and stuff others have done on it.

Having said that, I still can't do it through html... so if you figure it out let me know.

I stop short of using a new CSS because I really don't know a) What it is or b) What all it will do...

A member (Katie) uses a test site... she set up a siterubix free site and messes with that to see what will happen. I think I may do that too. I'm way too afraid my site will turn to dust to be messing around freely so I'm guessing that's limiting me.

I use the HERO theme and it has very little color, but I have figured out how to add photos (took FOREVER to get the hang of that) and ads (this complicates things up so I wouldn't add too much detail before you publish... if you put ads on top of a bunch of colors it can get tacky and too busy and nobody will even SEE the ads.)

Don't wait to publish. Get your Google analytics set up and start watching the site there while you experiment. All these things take time and in retrospect I would wait less and risk more LOL.

If you go through Kyle's training... The green GET STARTED HERE button, and then subsequent lessons it leads you to, it will give you the logical steps to take that the experts - who have forgotten more than we will ever know - know is important.

>Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a style sheet language used for describing the presentation of a document written in a markup language< Huh? I never went to University!
What Katie is doing is smart but no good for me. I would forget what I did by the time I get back to my site! But that is not so bad if you keep saving/publishing your site regularly and then fiddle with it again until you got it right.
What bugs me is the rigidness of WP, when your get into one editing mode and it lets you do everything but what you need to do and no way back it seems.
Sh.. at this rate I could build my own simple website with all I want it to do. It would look good, have no frills and would be extremely easy to surf on.
I really don't see what is so "easy" about WP. It stumped me then and it is stumping me now. I guess, I am getting too old! These young guys learned things different from us and they are more adapt to it, right!
If I could remember what I learned on Kyle's course I would gladly take it. But in my case this is a waste of time. By bumbling through things to do in WP I learn a whole lot more and sort of retain some of it.

I have two draft pages for my site built but still need to add links for something to sell, with banners and all the bells needed to get attention by the visitors. The first thing is to sell WA and I probably will build a separate site for that by itself and maybe start with that one as the main page that will have a lot of links to my interest pages..

Nathaniell sent me info on a plugin called YARPP that supposedly makes wordpress visual editor look exactly like how your site is going to look. That may be partly the issue you're having with WP, I'm not sure. I haven't tried it yet but here's the link:

https://wordpress.org/plugins/yet-another-related-posts-plugin/

I guess I'm forgiving of WP because when I did websites the hard way, just designing the thing was a chore, then once customized everything needed to be FTP'd to the server, and graphics were a big time consuming deal to change, etc. This makes putting content up MUCH EASIER than the old way.

But I think you mean that it just seems like with all the technology out there it should be way more fool proof, and I'm a little surprised by that too.

I'm working on a lengthy checklist of items Kyle trained on so as I do additional sites I don't have to rewatch the training. Too time consuming, I agree. -Alexx

Can you share with me which plug-ins, Mike? I only have the ones that came pre-installed by WA... I really need plug in advice. They scare me LOL -Alexx

Sure Alexx! Just log in to your WordPress Account (fresh Log-In) and at the top menu you will find a button saying Plug-Ins, from there go to "Popular" and that will show you a whole bunch of new ones. That is about how far I got! After you download them you need to log in to your website and there will be a button for available plug-ins; some of them you just need to activate them and others need a bit more attention.
Hope this helps, Mike

Mike, I found you a training on some color issues. Everything else I think may come down to your individual theme. I'm not sure what you're using but if you Google "changing colors in ______ WP theme" it will probably lead you to a forum on the theme itself.

Hope that helps. I still haven't turned up the plug in I read about... if I find it I'll let you know! I was planning to use it later too, but I don't think there was a free version so that's probably how I lost track of it.

Good |Morning Alexx, Thank you, this will help greatly! I am starting over again. For some reason when I wanted to log into my WA website, WP kept coming up with this 2nd grader math questions to sign in and then come up with my old versions of my website. I just got led around in circles and couldn't get back into my current website. Finally I erase all and am starting from scratch. This is extremely annoying and |I am getting a "bit|" fed up with WP. Who said it was one of the "best" programs for this purpose? I`ve never had this much trouble before building my websites.
But thanks for your help and I am looking forward to your other results.

I only tried one other system called SquareSpace and it was $45 a month and hardly any customization was allowed. This has more of a learning curve in away but I think in the end we will be able to almost anything, Mike. -Alexx

Mike1942 Premium
Is SquareSpace a plug in? I am not going to pay for any of these unless they give me something back that pays, or is important to my website and selling. I am joining Google AdWords and set a $500/mo. budget, getting my ad all over Canada, USA, Australia, South Africa and for all places India. Google says there are 4 5000 000 targeted people in that area and I will get around 60-80 targeted clicks for this money. We'll see how it will go. First, before I can do that, I will have to wait for their postcard with my activation code.

No, it's a complete website building system. I used it to set up a friend's website, but I never really mastered it and now I realize how inadequate it was. I used Adwords for probably 6 years, practically from when it first came out - about 2001 through 2007. And it built a HUGE business for me. I also had a 60,000 keyword campaign (in the days where we could get cheap clicks from misspells, etc). I ended up spending about $15k a month on it and it brought in gross rev of 4x that much, always.

I loved the ability to turn the sucker on and off and not have to have people on the phones. My CPC however got up to as much as $5 at that time for the best words, and even though I needed that top presence of number 1 or 2 in my main phrases, I believe I made more money from the lower cost more obscure words. You'll have to see what works for you. I was US only.

Be REALLY REALLY good about tracking the source of your calls. I know Analytics can track your clicks but I found it nearly impossible to know what keywords the actual CALLERS(or maybe buyers, in your case) plugged in. I had people on the phones asking as part of the intake and callers rarely remember. Maybe it's all handled with Google for you now, I don't know. But for instance, you will hopefully know if you spend $100 whether it brings you looky loo people are people really looking to take action. Like Kyle's training has on keywords, I'm guessing if you're selling something it might be "Buy _____" to catch the customer in the proper stage of being a customer to pay off for your money.

While you're waiting to start you might work really hard to get your Cost Per Click down so that you get many many more clicks than 80. I wouldn't think that would be a good test sampling. But I don't know. Do you know how many clicks on your site it takes to get 1 customer that pays $______, so you can then determine how much to spend initially to recoup your $500. $500 is a LOT of money for just clicks. I think I spent about $500 a day and out of that I would get between 250 and 500 clicks, and of that I would get revenue of $1600-3200 gross revenue... so the numbers were right for me. I'm a cheapskate now and refuse to spend a dime unless I know I will get it back! LOL.

Best of luck with it! I hope it's affordable for your industry! -Alexx

Thanks for the heads up Alexx, I never worked much with AdWords in the past but looked at it a lot in the early 2000's. I got really p.o.'d when they started charging for the service and cancelled my account. Now I revived it and am shooting into the dark with the $500. That is just a maximum but I am sure that they will make sure to get this $500 in whole! I am willing to spend this one time to find out what can be done but then I have to fine tune it more accurately. If I don't, how would I know what is possible?
