I'm having trouble grasping what it means to "get links" or having people "link to me," etc. Does that mean having other people put my link on their website? Am I supposed to be d

Back links from other websites can improve your Google rankings if those links are from respected "authority" sites. There's not much you can do about getting them except wait for relevant traffic to recognize the worth of your site. Contriving to get back links in the manner advocated by wise guys who think they can game the system will only hurt you in the long run. Just keep getting good content on your site and the back links will happen.

Kyle seems to be saying in the training that the whole backlinks thing is wrong, not helpful, and that he rarely allows any links to 'dilute' his site

thing about it -you are sending your traffic away from you site and they may not be ready to buy yet when they read your content, so you set them up to purchase elsewhere

While browsing the internet, I have seen some blogs that have a list of links to other blogs about the same subject.

I use links to other websites on my own site often. I write about crochet, and linking makes it easy to use other people's works to add to my own. For example, youtube videos that give instructions.

I wouldn't worry about getting links too much. If you work on your site and concentrate on good content, keep adding to that content, the links will naturally follow.

Hi Mike. There are absolutely loads of ways to get links (backlinks) to your site.
For example I have Pinterest boards and over 3,000 followers and they all link back to my boards. They also 'Pin' my stuff to their boards and I have one board that allows then to pin and I also have my stuff in it so that when they pin that board to their own Pinterest account I get the exposure.
Its the same kinda thing with FB or Twitter. You follow the boards/groups. Its a kinda snowball rolloing down a hill effect. It justs gets bigger and bigger.
You could also think about joining Forums that are relevant to your Niche.
Also Google+, LinkedIn, Stumbleupon and Tumblr etc etc.
Hope this helps.
Have anice day.
Robert

I've only been up and running for a few days and have done no advertising as of yet. However, I've noticed through Google Analytics that I'm getting at least some web traffic -

I am so glad you have gotten this sorted out as there have been quite a few members that have been having issues with visitors from Russia, some members have now even blocked the country from their site. If you have any further issues there is training on how to block a country now due to the issues these members were having!

That is good info, thanks! I have been surprised how much traffic is coming from .ru! I'll take a look at the training. Take care!

You need to go to Settings>General and uncheck that box that says: "Anyone can register". Then delete any other users.

Done! Whew, that's good to know. What's worse, I just found out Microsoft SmartScreen blocked my website when people use Internet Explorer. That's a huge bummer. I haven't even started soliciting for web traffic or starting any advertising campaigns. Argghh..

I don't know anything about that but hopefully it will get straitened out.

Thanks for this, I checked and it was OK in my case. Jovo

It's your account and no one else should be adding user accounts. Only you should be creating any additional accounts.Yes, disable and report this through a support ticket. Sounds like you have been hacked and also you should be reviewing any comments before approving. Do you have a spam filter set up?

Thanks MarineMom - I have the Akismet plug-in that came automatically with WA. Is that all I need? Luckily I haven't seen any bad comments - just some good ones from other WAers.

I have not had that problem, but if I see things being put on my account/Website I do not recognize, I would put a stop to it before it causes me problems!

I've noticed that the WA and Jaaxy social media sites haven't been updated in quite awhile. WA University on Facebook hasn't been touched since July 2014, and the Jaaxy G+ site

It is up to us to update info about WA and Jaaxy by writing blogs and reviews about it to spread the word to get people to join our ranks.

I would just imagine that the company would want to market themselves as well and continue to stay active with those accounts. Dry social media accounts can be death for businesses. Thanks for the response!

I've loaded several widgets to www.thewealthyweb.com while getting things started. If I end up changing my theme, will the widgets disappear and need to be re-entered? Thanks!</

Make yourself up for a lot of adjustments! Make a back-up first!

You can change themes in your admin area and preview it before you make the actual change. There you will be able to see what happens when you change to a different theme. If you don't like the way it looks you can always change it back. This way you won't lose all your hard work. Although I will warn you that the more content you create, the harder it will be to change themes

Thanks so much... I admit I am nervous about switching my theme, but I know that IF I do grow in traffic I have a pretty basic one... but maybe I'll just cross that bridge when I get to it ;-)

No problem. I'm here for ya.

It depends on the theme, I had to redo mine. It didn't take long though. :)

Ahh... trial by fire! :) Thanks!

Good afternoon WAers :) I just discovered a Twitter autoresponder feature and set it u

Haven't got any message yet Mike

Thanks for letting me know, Loes! I went ahead and turned off the autoresponder, even though it wasn't working :) I think that I will respond to my followers personally, at least in the beginning. Thanks so much for "waiting" for it!

Absolutely never!! This is why! http://propodder.com/2011/02/wait-to-reply-to-new-twitter-followers/

Great article and definitely food for thought! I do agree...sometimes getting those DMs myself I think, "well gosh, you don't know anything about me!" Great points!

added you ontwitter @eimhier :)

I've added you back. Let me know if you receive the Direct Message that's "hopefully" going to automatically be sent!

And what does this message supose to say?

It is designed to say (at least I hope!), "Hi , thanks for the follow! I write abt business and inspiration @ thewealthyweb.com - I'd love it if you'd stop by!" I'm using a 24 hour trial with the service to make sure it works and I'm pleased with it, before I purchase their product.

I do it manual, haven't got one from you yet, but I am sure you have got one from me:)
