Hey WA Family

How is everyone? I miss you!! :))

After my update on my clickbank earning here :

https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/jewelcarol/blog/wo...

My clickbank statement stated that I had received another clickbank recurring commissions again of $468.34 ... totalling $936.68 Wow!

But here is the catch about this Clickbank's 'CDR" thingy ...

Clickbank stated in their CDR (Customer Distribution Requirement) update for new payment status :

"ClickBank’s updated CDR policy now states that ClickBank will withhold payment of any balance until an account shows a minimum of 5 sales .....

------------------------------------------------

I am always promoting affiliate products with paypal commissions, and I didn't really like to promote clickbank products ...

So, what do you think? Should Clickbank withhold payments just like that? :)

Doesn't seem right or fair...you did the work of selling it for them already

- so it sounds they let newbies sign up but make them work hard before being paid and potentially don't pay them at all
- other companies won't let newbies join at all until AFTER they have large traffic and authority
- WA lets absolute beginners earn decent money without limit from the beginning

This makes a big difference to me personally!

It is a little unfair since it is not little money here, thanks Moz.. You are right, I prefer WA's commissions though.. :)

I do think that this is a little unfair, in particular because of the sum of money.

I do think this is a bit of a money grab because such a large % of people on their network will likely make one or two sales, but not fulfill the 5 sales, thus Clickbank reaping the full rewards of this.

Yes, and I have had the experience on JVZoo where the vendor never pays at all...I still have like I think $87 outstanding from one where the sale took place in November last year!

Most vendors on that platform will have a 30 or 60-day hold on commissions until you have 50 sales total using that platform. That I have to chase them after 60 days bugs me, and I no longer work with anything that guy is selling...

Another way to rip you off, but it only works twice if you let it be that way! The rest I have had no problems with, and some do pay immediately the commissions, a sale happens and I get a message from PayPal...

JVZoo hmmmm
The email marketing from them was SO much I have completely unsubscribed form them.
A great example of how not to use email marketing.
Ingrid

Yes once you get on a few lists, you will be bombarded with promotion emails for every offer an affiliate promotes...There are new products coming out daily there, it does have some quality stuff, but you have to be selective, also some not so good...

It kind of goes back to what you learn here and elsewhere about email marketing...You have to build a relationship with a subscriber before you sell to them...

I have unsubscribed to many of the affiliiates for just that reason...No relationshio whatsoever is attempted, only day after day selling the next shiny object...

You are right, how NOT to do email marketing!

Cheers!
Dave : )

Don't get me started about how they slowly steal money back from you if your earnings are below the payout threshhold and you haven't made sales for a long time.

Thank you Kyle, I do agree it is a bit unfair since it is not little money here, but that is their rules. :( I still prefer WA's commissions which is via paypal.:)

That really does sound like a pain, but if you have earned that much I would definitely keep going :)

Yes, will keep going, thank you Chrissie.:)

Bummer It almost seems like one of those Indian giver scams. Hopefully you can win through their fine print Jewel!

Hey Michael, lol. Thanks for yr input.:)

Seems a little bit unfair but it's their game and their rules, right. That first check will certainly be a nice one and, hopefully, worth the wait.

Blessings,
Debby

Hey Debby dear, yes, it is definitely worth the wait, thank you!:)

It's to prevent people from giving themselves a "discount" by purchasing products with their own affiliate link. Obviously if you meet their CDR it doesn't matter past that point.

Whenever I buy ClickBank products, I always buy through my own affiliate link. I've been doing this for years and never got into trouble for it.

So have I. I never said you would get in trouble for it either. However, that rule is in place to prevent people from signing up with Clickbank as an affiliate for the sole purpose of getting commissions from their own purchases:

"This requirement is in place to help prevent Affiliates from abusing the ClickBank Affiliate program by using their accounts for the sole purpose of fraudulently collecting rebates and/or discounts on their own purchases."

Ah, I see. Thanks for the clarification.

Hey Thomas & Marcus, thanks for yr kind comments.:)

Keep going with Clickbank if you find something good to promote. Mine also took forever (3 years to meet their minimum requirements), but it was a nice big cheque when it did come through.

That is nice, thank you Michel.:)

From memory, it's not just 5 sales before they pay out they stipulate at least 2 different payment methods. It's to make sure people are promoting clickbank products and not just using it for their own purchases.

Don't worry, now that you've got the ball rolling you'll be able to meet their requirements soon. Start promoting! :)

Thank you my dear Marion, I just found this url for CDR, it shows there must be a minimum of 5 sales using at least two payment methods :
https://accounts.clickbank.com/accounting.html

I am not there yet but imagine it would be frustrating.
In saying that, I wouldn't worry too much about waiting. Clickbank have been around for a while and I'm sure you are promoting some quality stuff for people to be purchasing these $ amount items. Your next sales are just around the corner I'm sure.
By the way . . . congrats!

That is nice, thank you Ingrid.:)

I think it is ok.
Clickbank is a great platform.

I recently started promoting products through Clickbank as well.
I like it much better than Shareasale.

I am willing to wait for those first 5 sales before getting the money.

Cheers
Moritz

Hey Moritz, I like yr answer, thank you!:)
