Thank you all for your answers!

No age restrictions here

I have friended at least two people who are premium members who are under the age of 18. I assume the answer is yes.

I want to change my theme without losing my content. I hesitate to do this because somewhere in Wordpress I got a warning saying I would lose content. Other WA members say I

Are themes that does not support side bar widgets? How is it that, after adding widgets like the WA banners and the Navigation side bar to my website, they all fail to appear. The website is still nothing has been added. Being a newbie, am I still missing something after having followed all the steps in the training video?

When I couldn’t see any of the changes I made, turns out I saved the new lay out as a draft. After I hit the publish button in the appearance part of WordPress, my website showed all the widgets I had placed.

Looks like you have a lot of good answers, here. The only thing I can contribute is that I have changed themes many times, just to get the best 'look' and I did not lose anything!

I changed my theme in one of my websites this afternoon and everything stayed the same.

Good to know!

Good Question. And what I wonder is if I will have to do a bunch of reformatting or rearranging of text and images or will it all just pan out nicely....

Hi Gord! Well... it looks like Glovett answered our question. We will just have to jump in the void and see... knowing that if it doesn't work, we can go back to the original theme and recover.

Yes chances are if you change the theme you will have to reformat but as many have said the info will still be there.

thanks Gav

You can experiment with changing your content to fit the new theme format!

Thanks Michael!

The general rule for MOST themes is that you WILL NOT lose content. The only way you will "lose" content is if it is in a place that is not represented in the new theme.

For instance my site Lovettlearning.com has a gray section that explains what Lovett Learning is. But if I change the theme that section isn't supported in most themes and there isn't a space for it, so the content is "lost". I use quotes because if you switch the theme back the content will still be there. But as far as I know Posts, Pages, Categories etc are unaffected, only features of the theme that are unsupported by other themes.

Thank you!

Hello Gav... again, thanks for your help with changing a theme without losing content. Your website confirms that you're a natural teacher/mentor. Kudos to you for such a great endeavor! Just wondering.... Are you not interested in promoting any products in your site? I'm fairly new to this and curious.

To follow to what Gav shared, here's one thing I've done over the years on the WP sites I've designed for other clients. In your Page Editor, click on the Text (rather than Visual) Editor tab, then copy the HTML code and dump it into a MS Word or some other text document such as Notepad++.

As Gav mentioned, theme layouts and designs will change the overall look. However, changing to a new theme will not delete any of your media uploads or plugins. If you have your original HTML code in another document, it's easy to copy and paste it into new Pages and Posts in the event that the new theme somehow scuttles your work.

Best of luck! :-)

Thanks Bob... I was also looking for an alternate way of saving my content just in case I lose it. Welcome to WA... I'm sure we can look for you for more general answers?

Sure my friend, new to WA but have been designing sites for 10+ years. Have a great weekend!

No promoting products on the site is an important part of making money online. I use affiliate links on my first website but right now Lovett Learning is just a means for people to reach me who need tutoring. I plan on using affiliate links in the form of textbooks, study guides, online courses etc.

Thanks again... enjoy your weekend!

Yes you can. WA has a backup facility so if something does happen you can recover

thanks much! So if something happens I can recover my old theme and content... how would I go about doing that?

When you go to Site Rubix, go all the way down to site support and they will help you with literally anything. If a picture won't load, you're locked out of your site, can't format the header properly, etc they can help. Of course if it's something we can help with feel free to ask us first!

I just created titles for my first 3 pages: About Me; Private Policy; and about my niche. I saved this but is not showing up on my website menu.

Make sure you are adding them to the menu which is your active menu.

Thanks...I did that. I now found out that when I click on "view" I can see the page titles.

You'll need to add the pages to your navigation menu through the wordpress dashboard.

Thanks... that is how I did it. Still not showing up.

You might try flushing your browser cache by hitting F5. You may be seeing an earlier saved version of the page.

Did you simply save or did you publish? I accidentally hit save and it saved as a draft. I had to go back in to edit and then hit publish.

First I published. Still not showing up on my website page.
