Site support created a staging site earlier this week. Will I need them to ensure everything is synced before I press the 'move' button?
They've made a few changes this week regarding adding and deleting codes.
I'm anxious about clicking the move button until everything is in place.
What do you mean by "synced"?

What changes were made to your codes?
A replica of my current live site. They have removed codes from the header PHP file, code snippets and added elsewhere to an ad inserter plugin.
I've not seen this but if all looks great... I'd go ahead and click on the 'move' option and worry about changes once it's live... but the final decision to do this MUST be yours.

Hi Louise - I am suffering with the same problem even after turning off auto ads on the Google Adsense platform.
They are splashing ads all over with fury. I don't like it. But, the dollars are coming in.
My next move is to have specific pages excluded like my homepage, privacy policy, medical disclaimer, and affiliate disclosure.
I don't remember authorizing Google Adsense to do this.
Hope that we can get this problem resolved.

Thanks Maxine, yes I’ve got loads of ads currently although I have blocked a few from showing. I’ve excluded pages too but everything I’ve tried is still showing ads on the top of every page.
Fingers crossed it gets sorted.
It’s very stressful when things are not working as they should.

Some things I just don’t feel safe doing.
I’m already in the process of creating a different theme due to my current one causing huge problems.
Once I get this ad stuff sorted, I can move my site.
Hope so. It’s been a frustrating weekend and my brain is tired now 😴

Hi Louise- I have recently changed to the free version of GeneratePress theme. It's very reliable, lightweight, and fast.
Fortunately, you have a staging site. I did my customizing step by step. GeneratePress makes it easier to get it done.
Eventually, I will get where I need to be. I am not in any hurry.

When I test incognito it shows up.
No worries. It's probably there! My device in Chrome browser acts up now and then.

I am the opposite of techy lol, its light and easy to use. And a bonus, its what they use in training and classes ( I haven't seen any not using it)
I’m very tempted to switch over to this one. I’m going to have a play about with the theme in my staging website just to see what it’s all about. I’m just worried about transferring everything over to a new theme because of a different layout, etc and the amount of work that could potentially be needed to get it on track.
Create a staging site and you can make large scale changes without worrying about affecting your live site or what your audience sees. Then, when you’re ready you just use the move function to move it over and make it live. Takes all the pressure off. How to Create a Staging Site in Wordpress
Hi Eric, thankfully, I have a staging site already, so I will look and see what themes will work and play around with the new layout. Either way, I know it's going to take time if I change themes, and at the same time, the issues that my current one is causing are also taking a lot of time!

Or do I have to use the staging site and move it over with the new theme?
Just use the move function and with one button click your work is live instead of having to go to the other site to make changes. 👍🏼

Your staging site doesn’t continue to mirror the live website. It’s a copy at the time of creation. Just have them create a new one for you so you know it’s an exact copy and you can delete the old staging site 👍🏼

You didn't mention which theme you're currently using, but I can suggest using either GeneratePress, or Kadence (Kadence Pro is the paid version). I use the Pro version of both of these themes on different sites, and I can highly recommend them.
Hi Mary, sorry, no, I didn't. I'm currently using Ashe. Have you used them from a previous theme? And if so, did you have any issues with transferring? I'm very concerned about codes being broken.
Hi, yes - I've have switched from other themes to both Generate Press and Kadence.
FYI, however, there will most likely be a few things that you need to adjust when changing from one theme to another. Sometimes the featured image sizes aren't the same, things like that. Also, any customization that you did in Ashe won't transfer over.
Yes, I've read here that sizing and customisation can be altered. I don't have a featured image, as this was lagging my website, so if I have made any customisations, I will need to transfer those over to the new theme.

I have very good scores within my page speed insights on mobile and desktop, but on the performance side, mobile is only 63, and desktop is 72. I will add a photo to show you.
why have the signup come up before they even get to see any of your content - i would delay that until they reach 50% of the post length - this means they are interested in reading your post and are more likely to signup for more.....
the page can load before the other two are added as long as they cannot scroll....
i definitely would not click three boxes to get to content - have jumped away for less...there are other sites offering info for less....
the dealys for the signup should be available within your autoresponder....
how are you adding the privacy box and would flying scripts plugin be of use where you can delay the code.....

Can anybody recommend a link checker plug-in that will automatically scan my website regularly for broken or redirected links? I'm looking at one I can set to run weekly to cat

What are you using to "sell" eBay products, etc?
If you're using an eCommerce plugin, check to see if a notice for broken links might be an option offered within that plugin.
Broken Link Checker would work if you were using text or image links to the products without an eCommerce plugin... as I've found the Broken Link Checker priceless for Clickbank offers that are no longer available.

That's the plugin I use for all of my affiliate links EXCEPT Amazon ...because their rules tell you NOT to use anything other than the link Amazon supplies affiliates to use --- which, I'm sure you're already aware of.

It’s part of their tools so it’s just called Link generator and I copy and paste the link into the eBay address bar, click on ‘generate link’ and it gives me a shorter version.
I’ve attempted Amazon affiliate programs twice now and have had no joy and been booted off but yes, was aware of their rules on photographs and links etc.

And... I was kicked off my own country's Amazon... Canada... due to too few clicks. Same thing happened with the France's Amazon.
Yes, I've heard that their payout is really bad now, so I'm not missing much. It was a shame when they got rid of their Stripe option, too. I've joined different affiliate marketing companies now so I won't be going back to Amazon.

I think the Link Whisper has a reporting feature that flags broken external links. However, you may find this helpful.
