Hello all, will be posting a ton of pictures on my travel blog and wanted to know if there was a way to protect my photos from being copied and becoming someone else's? Thank y

I believe you can copyright photos, just like, important documents.

Watermark it

I wouldn’t worry about it too much. If some random kid in Vietnam starts selling your pics as his, it’s just one of those things you gotta let go lol.

LOL I will not let it go. Sometimes I get some really nice shots and I'm just not the sharing kind of person, lol.

I’m pretty sure I saw a kid in Bangkok selling your doggy beanies for like $500/ea on the streets Lol

Lmao that's hilarious. Thanks for the laugh.

:)

Thank you Sir, will definitely check it out.

Remember all anyone has to do is a screen shot and they have the picture, it's hard to prevent.

Randy

That's annoying.

DMCA dot com

A paid service that tracks your media content and gives you information ones someone stole it, so you can take it to court and claim damages, or inform the host to take it down.

Have a look. One subscription is for unlimited websites.

There are so many ways people can take your content, so that is as good as impossible to avoid it.

You can think of putting your website as a watermark inside, like this your name spreads around, free advertisement ;)

Thanks I will look into it. I love taking pictures and have been hesitant about putting a lot of my travel pics out there because I just don't want someone passing it off as there's.

Thanks again.

While copyright is automatic, check out registration of your photographs with the country you live in.

I know in the USA it is the United States Copyright Office and in your case it is necessary to receive the full benefits and protection contained in the current copyright laws.

Keep me posted, I love photography too. :)

Like Matthew says below; No

There are several more or less clever ways to try to stop people from copying the pics, but none of them work.

That's just disappointing. Thanks.

There is, but that does not stop people from copying it in other ways. Like using screen scraping.

WordPress Plugins have this functionally. The one I use is called "WP Content Copy Protection".

You might want to consider adding your domain name to the background in your pictures, something like a watermark. That might give you some protection.

Thank you I was just looking at the WP plugins and considering the watermark. Thanks again.

Not really, No

I think there is because I tried coping and pasting a photo from a site once and it wouldn't let me. It actually gave me a message saying I wasn't allowed to. Just never figured out how they did it. Thanks.

Most of the methods of 'content protection' are trivial to defeat since they rely on executing some javascript code on the site to function. Turning javascript off in your browser is sufficient to disable the protection in most cases.

Interesting. Thank you.

Hello All, is anyone using WooCommerce to sell their own items and not connecting to affiliate links? Trying to set it up on my new crochet site and it won't connect to Jetpack

I think jay answered your question in the other forum right? :)

Yup just saw that. Asked here before asking him. Thanks!!!

:)

I've used this for a few clients I built sites for. https://wordpress.org/plugins/ups-woocommerce-shipping-method/

I'm doing this Dawn!

Teddy Bears training may be helpful.

When adding products, you can choose whether it's an affiliate product or your own.

Ok but i need the Jetpack to work for rates etc. It’s not installing/connecting in order for me to use it. How do i made it work?

Hello all, has anyone used Shopify to sell your products? If yes did you like it? Thinking of setting an account, they are offering 14 days free so figured I'd try it.

On my radar for sure!

I took advantage of their ongoing promotion. Actually I just open up a shop on SHOPIFY about 3 weeks now. It is still in it's infancy stage. I went General to see which item will be a great niche.

I have a few puppy items in my shop, because as I mentioned I have a love for small puppies. I perhaps will pick a product in the pet area soon.

www.tiny-toys-cheap.com

I will keep posted how my shop is going.

Great Marketing!

Small dogs are just adorable. Some have a Neapolitan Complex but can still be snuggly. Will definitely check out your site.

From what I've seen the strategies used with Shopify are the same affiliate marketing principles used here, and if they are, it'd be hard to justify paying for all that stuff they offer when you have it here, no? But I'm not very familiar with Shopify. That being said, from the little I've seen I think you can add WooCommerce to your site here and basically have everything Shopify charges you for. You could look into it just to see how their system works.

Looking at WooCommerce currently, thanks.

No prob.

I personally don't see the purpose and economic sense for using Shopify. Not when there is WooCommerce. Shopify charges you for a lot of what you get free with WooCommerce and you have more control over your website with WooCommerce.

That's just me though. Some folks swear by Shopify and they try to convince you that just because you use Shopify customers will automatically purchase from your store. Hogwash...

Stay focused and be blessed.

FeltonT.

I've never heard of Woocommerce. Never really heard of Shopify either until it popped up in a search I did. Will check it out as well. Thank you.

Yeah I believe you will see that WooCommerce is the better option. You can find it when you search for new plugins in your WordPress Dashboard.

I tried it, and realized I was spreading too thin for my site. But, Shopify is a wonderful website if you're comfortable with it.

Kool, maybe I'll give it a try and see what happens. Thanks.

Can you say more, what you mean by spreading thin, why did you not continue?

Hello All, can anyone suggest a portable WiFi for my iPhone to use while I’m traveling or out of WiFi territory when out and about? Thanks.

Hey Dawn and anyone else interested, this is the upgraded version of what I used in Rome. It worked great, fits in your pocket, and you have wifi everywhere. This particular version is also a power bank so you can charge your devices which is pretty cool too. The one I have is just portable wifi. They sent me this link a while back in an email and you should be able to get $20 off your order.

YES!!!! Awesome, thank you. Does it charge the IPhone or just Androids?

This one is the new one and an upgraded version of what I have. The one I have is just wifi, but I'm sure this would be compatible with any device not just apple.

Excellent I’ll contact them to confirm that. Thanks.

Perfect :)

Don't you mean the Data Network which is from your provider.
WiFi tends to be available at Hotel's, Airport's, Train Station's, Libraries and so on.

No, you can actually purchase a portable hotspot so you can have access to WiFi no matter where you are apparently.

You can? I didn't know that.

Neither did I. But someone mentioned it and I googled it and found a bunch but wasn’t sure which one to get. Figured I’d ask if anyone has tried any and get their take on it.

Are those connections safe ... is my concern. I refuse to let my mobile device connect to ONLY my password protected WiFi for this very reason.

A very interesting question you've asked here Dawn, Thank YOU!

Thank you. Currently I really don’t think anything much is safe.

I often use it

I don't us it. Just hook up at hotels or site centers!

I do that sometimes but sometimes none are available and I’d just like to have one whenever and wherever.
