Several years ago, we had a thread for people to post their social accounts so others could connect outside of WA. Is there anything like that today? If not, we should get one
Hey Scott,
It really depends on what you mean by "connect outside of WA".
If it's for potential business relationships or partnerships, sure, that's a possibility, but I'm sure many members utilize the Private Message option to build relationships with others.
If it's to boost social media accounts, nope, doesn't work.
There are still "social media follower" threads on the platform, but in truth, it's never been a great idea.
The number of followers on ANY social media platform has always been nothing more than a vanity metric.
The real benefit is having ACTIVE & ENGAGED followers who are actually interested in what you're posting.
So, as an example, let's say we get a fresh social media thread going, and 300 members decide to "follow each other", in order for this to mean anything you would need to be regularly active on ALL 300 member's social accounts, as they would need to be on yours.
Do you really have time for that?
Sure, "social signals" (likes, comments, upvotes, citations on social channels, etc.) are extremely important, and they can even have an impact on boosting organic search rankings.
However, as I say, followers mean nothing, it's all about ACTIVE & ENGAGED followers.
But, going back to what I originally said, it really depends on what you mean by "connect outside of WA".
Can you please clarify?

It's not that I know of; there was Facebook previously.
You can click share on any blog post or webinar within, collect your affiliate ID link, and share it onwards. If they click, sign up, and later upgrade, you get commissions as long as they stay subscribed to the platform.

Hey Scott,
There is a section in our profiles that USED to be labeled Follow Me On: "Follow Me On" Links Area and now titled My Links where you can easily add any social media link that you want other WA members to follow you on.
This way, no one is being pressured into following someone they have no wish to follow.
Hope you find this helpful.
