I'm thinking of rebuilding my site, it has about 75 articles, some of them can easily be omitted leaving approximately 60.

I'm hoping the new A.I feature will make it ea

You can always update the content. The articles are indexed already. I have changed themes, but you've already laid a foundation, keep working on it.

Thank you Rob, I appreciate your input.

Ask yourself why. Why do you think you need to rebuild your website?

Has your focus changed?

If so, then take a look at why you started that site.

Did you run astray or are you on track?

Then look at your website as a visitor, and see what they see. There may be improvements to be made rather than rebuilding completely.

I have rebuilt websites, from simple edits to full out redesigns. I'll help you in any way I can.

Rudy

Thank you Rudy for your input, the answer is not that simple.
Basically, I had it revamped, now it's more confusing than ever.
This is why Kyle encourages us to build our own site, that way we know how to navigate it.

I sent you a reply pm...

Hi Melanie - Rebuilding a website requires customization. You can start with the Site Identity, Color Options, Typography System, and Layout Options..

I am not an expert. However, I know what caused me to need website improvement. The first thing that I needed to do was change my theme from Twenty Twenty to GeneratePress.

Take it one step at a time, pay attention to details, and voila ici!

Happy Rebuilding!

Maxine :)

Hi Maxine, thanks for the helpful tips.

Is it necessary to save your posted articles?
If so, what is the best method?

Thanks
Mel B

I save EVERYTHING at least twice. Everything ...
Bux

That's awesome, Bux! I save the raw copy, too! :)
Abie

Once bitten, twice shy, as they say.

All your content is already saved in Wordpress as a published article. If Wordpress as a whole went down you wouldn’t have a website at all. I don’t save my articles outside of Wordpress.

I keep a copy of all my articles in. a Notion database. It's prudent. Otherwise the security of my business would be totally dependent on WordPess or WA. This way I have my own building blocks available in case I need them.
:-)
Richard

Totally agree Richard. I do the same.
When I was freelance teaching I always had four USB sticks as copies of each other with me wherever I was. They are sat in my desk drawer now, A,B,C & D
How is Portugal tonight.
Bux

Hi Bux
Tonight? Portugal is dark and warm. Friday and Saturday nights can get a bit noisy after about 9pm. All's good.
;-)
Richard

I normally save mine on Microsoft word that way all is saved on my computer

Good idea.

Thanks Andrej.

Most welcome, also once saved I then save it to an external hard drive so if something happens to the computer I have a backup.

Enjoy your day and the rest of the week ahead.

Andre

You can always have a partition on your drive separate from your system files. If your computer crashes, it won't affect the other partitions. Many programs are available to partition your drive, though you may lose a small amount of space.

I once had a malfunctioning device but could remove the drive and install it in an external enclosure. I connected it via USB and recovered all the data from the non-system partitions.

Abie

Me too.. save in Mword.

I Set up folders for each website, label as blog and blogs posted. Easier to find the article without doing a search.

Rudy

Thanks Rudy I do the same. One folder for each website and same with the folders one to be posted and once posted move it to the other folder as done
That keeps it clean and organised
Andre 🙂

Absolutely! :) Google drive on the cloud.

I was trying to edit my title page from “My Writing Task” menu on the “Hub” page;
first I was trying to edit a single word, but it will not allow.<

You can when you get to write it in the site content.

Otherwise, if published, you may edit everything except changing the URL, especially if it is indexed; if not, you are also free to change the URL.

Chasing the URL to Google would be a new post; any ranking that has been achieved would be lost.

Abie

Thanks Abie, good to know.

Cheers!

You are welcome.
Abie

Hi Mel, It sounds like you're in the text editor. If that's the case, write the title you want after the paragraph clip and then delete the paragraph clip from the title.

Genius, it worked.

Thank you Dave.

Cheers 🥂
Mel B

You're very welcome, Mel. I'm glad.

Hello Members, just need your opinion on the compliant policy review below;
I received the info from someone today that was reviewing my site.

Is it really necessar

Not as far as I know, though I had been bookmarked. I am not aware of such a thing. Before today, I don't hear.
Unless additional clauses are required that are customized to your website, I would reach out to a professional.
You have resources within the template section of site content.
Abie

Maybe such terms applies to his website which is more of a service oriented site, mine is an affiliate site.

Thank you Abie.

Yeah, that's precisely how I would put it.
I appreciate the feedback.

and am wondering what kind of prices to expect for a site with about 40 articles.

Hi - its not clear as to what you mean by "revamp."

You will need to be more specific as to what you want from your freelancer.

An SEO audit, your posts rewritten, more posts written, social media work, etc.

What do you want to achieve?

Realistically, you would need a lot more content to see any results, anyway.

Sorry about the lack of clarity.

Basically, I will be upgrading to a new theme, which will be adjusted to suit my requirements.

The articles are fine, I did the SEO work on them.
I'm trying to achieve a new look.

Thank you Diane.
Mel B.

Hmm, I personally don't think you need to pay somebody to change and customise/optimise a theme.

Is it a premium theme?

You could end up paying a lot of money for something relatively straightforward.

The theme developer should have documentation to guide you through the different aspects, and Site Support can restore your site to the previous version, if anything goes wrong.

Well received.

Thanks

Why outsource when you can do it yourself?

Anyway, you want to hire SEO writers to do the work. That may cost ($50 plus a piece), and how will you know if they've done an excellent job?

Abie

I've done a lot myself, the last time I tried to change themes, I ran into some technical issues that makes me nervous.
I'm thinking a web designer can easily handle such issues with ease.
SEO is no problem.

Thanks Abie.

Mel B

I suggest you ask site support for a staging website so you can test the change before applying it to your main website.

(Again, I wouldn't advise a web designer because if you need to edit your site at some stage, you won't run to them each time, nor will you know what to do.)

And so, this has nothing to do with updating posts.

Abie

Okay, thank you Abie.

You are most welcome. Please keep us updated on your progress.
