PageSpeed Insights, Website Analysis at Your Fingertips
We have an exciting release to announce today. Many of you know the relationship between your website and Google is a very important one. If you can make them happy, you will get better rankings, way more traffic , and subsequently generate more revenue with your business as a result.
One of Google's core focuses in their ranking algorithm is "user experience", And this derives a great deal out of the speed at which your website functions. Google offers a free platform to that allows you to check whether or not you're pages are optimized for speed based on the criteria they offer.
Conventionally, you have to go off to the Google PageSpeeds Insight page to check the performance of individual pages or posts on your website (or your website homepage).
We've changed that...
First, before I get into the PageSpeed integration, I want to discuss your website speed and the importance of it. This is what the PageSpeed Insights platform is going to be measuring. You have an advantage over competition in any industry by being able to opreate a "faster" site and this is made possible through the SiteSpeed platform here at WA.
SiteSpeed, The Ultimate Website Caching Platform
Back in spring of 2017 we launch the SiteSpeed platform. This was a collection of technological advances that we had done on the server-side of our hosting platform that truly allows your website to operate as efficiently, and as fast as possible. Faster than any other hosting company in the world...that's the goal and from our tests it could very well be reality.
There are caching plug-ins available to Wordpress that are used to speed up websites, but they simply did not do a good enough job as they operated on the "website/plugin level" which is MUCH slower than handling caching on the server (hardware) level.
So our solution...we created the technology to cache all of your content at the server level. You don't need to understand how this works, other than the fact it makes your website load lightening fast for visitors and search engines.
When we see an opportunity to make something better than what is available in the industry, we build it. Out of this, SiteSpeed was born.
If you do not have SiteSpeed already turned on on your website, I recommend you do so and you can do this as a Premium member from within the SiteManager, under the "SitePlus" link.
Then from there, you're simply going to turn on SiteSpeed. It is a simple as that.
I recommend you do this for all of your websites as it will drastically improve load times, efficiency, and will optimize your entire website for Google. This will subsequently it lead to better rankings, more traffic, and more revenue as result.
Keeping Your PageSpeed Insights in "Check"
Google has a "check" that you can perform to see how efficiently your website is serving content to your visitors. This is called PageSpeed Insights and you can now view these Insights directly within your SiteManager here at WA!
To check this out, you can access it through your SiteManager "Details" section for any of your websites that you have hosted here at WA.
Then, once you are in the details page you will scroll down until you see the PageSpeed Insights section (as shown below).
If you are not seeing any data yet, simply click the "Refresh" button for any page that you want to get data on and it will load your PageSpeed Insights directly from Google for those particular pages.
These days, we find that members with SiteSpeed turned on are able to frequently achieve PageSpeed Insights of over 90! Our SiteSpeed platform here at WA creates a level of efficiency unparalleled in the industry. Anything over 80's for a score is very good, but when you get into 90's it is unheard of in the industry.
If you go to any "reputable" hosting company and do a PageSpeed check on sites they have running, you will typically see them in the 40-70 range, rarely in the 90's. This is another added benefit to using the Managed Wordpress hosting platform here at WA, your sites simply run faster and Google will as a result, like them better (and rank you higher).
Sometimes though, your PageSpeed won't be perfect. It doesn't do everything for you, sometimes you will have images or plugins (and ocassionally a theme) that will slow down your website and conflict with with our technology.
Here is an example of the PageSpeed insights for a dieting website that I have.
You can see for the most part this website is in the 90's, which is brilliant! For a few of the "mobile" rankings it is only getting 66/100 though, which is still OK, but can be improved upon.
To "check" these, I click the small "G" icon to the far right which will take me directly to Google so I can inspect and analyze what the exact issue is.
In this case, the issue is not related to images rather the "social plugin" that I am using and the way it loads is inefficient. There are 100's of social button plugins that you can use to allow people to share the content on your website, so in this scenario it might be good to test a few others out to see if they operate more efficiently.
This is how you can take any scores below 70 and work to improve your site so it operates more efficiently in Google and other search engines. This will lead to much higher rankings, happier visitors on your website, and more rankings as a result.
Slow Images Mean a Slow Site
One of the biggest contributing factors to a slow website, is images. Often times people are taking images from online sources and from their own personal camera phone and they are far too large and not optimized for the web, for mobile devices, or for loading speeds.
What you will find often times is that when you look at the actual PageSpeed insights on Google, you will see that your score is a little bit lower than typically it could be because of the image load times.
One thing that you have going for you here at Wealthy Affiliate, is the image compression technology that is run whenever you're using the SiteContent Images platform. Before your content is published your website, we "compress" your images so that the are much smaller in size, without losing visual quality. This leads to faster loading images.
This is just another feature an advantage to using the site content platform and being a Premium member here at Wealthy Affiliate.
If you do notice that your scores are lower than 70/100, it will typically be something related to your images on your site and them being too large, but can also be a plugin causing this like we saw in the earlier example.
PageSpeed at WA, Another Way to Shine Online
The faster your website loads, the better the user experience. The faster your website loads, the better rankings you're going to get. And the faster your website loads, the more money your business is going to generate as a result.
Understanding how speed affects user experience is going to be incredibly important to you and your website moving forward. You can now do this efficiently and in a fully integrated manner with the PageSpeed Insights platform There is now officially available to you within your SiteManager.
I recommend that you go test it out and see how the independent pages/posts on your webiste are fairing. We would love to hear your feedback about this platform, and if you have any questions or comments or suggestions for improvement, of course we are all "ears" :).

Thanks, Carson for this new feature which is just awesome, plain and simple. :)
I already checked on one website and for the most part, it shows high in the 80s and even 90. However, for mobile, I got pretty much high in the 70s and some 80s, only on 2 mobile, one was in mid-60s the other one even in the 50s.
I checked Google but really can't figure them out, lol. what they saying. Not that techy, yet. :)
As you said in your post, sometimes it could be even the theme. I am running "Twenty Thirteen" would it be better to switch the whole theme?
I also think I have to change my social media plugin. I am using Super Socializer, which I really like, but after the last website update by WP something is not working, so I will check it out.
Lots to take in right now.
Hello dear WA family, please, I'd like to improve one of the websites I created here and someone outside of WA is willing to help me do that. What login details do I need to give him?
Also, If I have to create a login and password for him, how can I prevent him from accessing my website after he has completed my website.
Thanks.
Unfortunately, allowing someone to improve the site will call for admin privileges for which you will have to create a separate admin account. Make sure the person is someone you trust.
You just have to delete the account after they are finished and reset passwords for all accounts.
Check with Site Support first as I am not sure if that's allowed...although technically no one would know normally.
I know this is a silly question to ask, but why are you not asking for feedback or comments on your website from WA members. Everything you need is right here within WA. As you are a premium member you have access to all material and webinars
If you are going to let your friend help you with your website you can change your password through wordpress.
See if this helps

Thanks for your response. I would love to spend more time on this platform, however not everybody has that time. I'll have a look at that link. Thanks.
Carson, I noticed when I did a Google Page Speeds insight analysis that by mistake it performed a check on my old http:// un-encrypted site. Of course the scores for mobile and desktop were quite poor.
However, noticing the problem after several checks, when I then manually changed the url by typing my current site that begins with the https:// prefix to have that analyzed both scores that came back were exceptional. Naturally, I was quite pleased!
Members need to be aware of this - those who have upgraded their sites to begin with the encrypted https:// prefix. At least with my site when clicking on the "Google Page Speeds Insights" link by default it appears to perform an analysis on my old http:// site.
I only wonder if others will be effected and perhaps, if you read this comment, Carson any changes that need to be done will eventually take place.
Otherwise it is a fantastic tool that your staff has added to everyone's Site Manager platform.
Way to go guys, the list of webpages is great, before I was loading them individually into google to check the speed, now they re all there for me.
Also you can sort by date posted, name and scanned so you have a way to organise them to suit your needs.
Once again, Carson this shows exactly why WA is simply in a class by itself!
Thank you to both you, Kyle and your entire team who work tirelessly behind the scenes to provide premium level members all the technological advantages to allow us to have success with each of our online businesses!
Love this new addition.
I just went to one of my websites although most are in the high 80 and 90 I noticed that one post was 68% with the mobile the desktop is 86.
After I adjusted and compressed further 6 images on that post the Mobile percentage went from 68 to 92% the desktop stayed the same.
I also love the fact that you can see all the pages and posts and you just have to scroll down with each one.
I noticed that when refreshing you can click any of these pages and posts quickly without having to re-enter the URL for each one as you would with Googles Pagespeed Insights.
This quick clicking feels just like in Jaaxy Pro when finding the QSR results where you can quickly click multiple search results
Love the refresh option so quick to update if page speed results.
Well done guys this is an awesome tool to use.
This is great Carson and it makes it easier to check speeds without having to leave WA. I have already used it on one of my websites and will be checking all my others in the days to come. Thanks to you, Kyle and everyone else behind the scenes, WA just keeps getting better and better.
Being able to check the site speed of posts within WA is really great.
I checked several pages of one site and the results are fantastic. All green and in the 90s.
Another site is not so great, so I have much work to do.
However, the convenience of easily checking without going to Google is wonderful.
Thanks Carson, and Kyle :)
Thank you, this is great I'm heading over there right now :D
I have great results all are green and above 90 but 4 of them are yellow. I learned what 'above the fold' is so I can fix those, a couple are to optimize images but 1 post alone has these shown in the screenshots. Is there an easy solution that can erase these 2!
Thanks
Hi Yvonne,
I looked it up in the search bar and found the answer from Jay's blog post I'll leave you the link... How Your 'Above the Fold' Can Affect Your Rankings 2 of the yellow results were because of the above the fold which is when an image is too high on the post. When you look at it there should be more content, so you need to lower the image.
When you look at your results on page insights as Carson shows us above, click on the 'G'...it actually shows you the 'current' way it looks on the mobile or desktop and then you click beside that to see what they want it to look like.
Once you adjust the image, refresh that page and refresh the results in page insights to see if its fixed.
I was so happy that it worked!
Another issue is in the one post as I added screenshots above. I ended up fixing the desktop! but the mobile is still yellow and at 79% which isn't 'that' bad. I have another one left for desktop and it's at 84% so I'm not concerned right now.
It took me all this time, 3 hours since I left the comment to fix them!
If you need some help let me know, now that I have some experience with it, just send me a PM.
Of course it is , since we first got it months ago.
Make sure you read the blog post Carson wrote on it.
So how are you fixing the setting and expiry date. How are you optimizing the images to fix them? Just curious. Mine needs a lot of work!
Hi Jean!
I took off for the day, I needed a break!
I just published a blog post about it a few minutes ago.
Isn't this really annoying? the lists of problems etc..
I have no idea what to do about the setting and expiry I don't even understand it and I haven't optimized anything yet, I asked that question in the blog post I wrote.
Sorry to hear yours needs a lot of work :(
Yep, posted a blog today, too. Check it out, mine isn't nearly as good as yours. Asking Kyle now on that post about the expiry and settings.

I am getting conflicting results with this. I will start to fix an issue for the mobile response and then my desktop diminishes, then I fix the desktop and both diminish. I will also analyze and then analyze 4 minutes later with nothing being changed and get different numbers. Any ideas as to what is causing this?
This is based on when your website gets cached. Sometimes you will need to click this twice if it is cached, if you update a file on your website it is no longer cached and will need to be recached (hence the double search).
Muchas gracias señor Pinkie
