If it is a WIndows Firewall problem, you can allow Aksimet to go through , but I doubt it is from your system. I think that the API key you got from Akismet may be wrong.
The 12 figure number that you get from them needs to be copied exactly, and then that remains with your settings on the server where your site is being hosted. It should have no bearing on any firewall settings on your computer, as your site is held on a web server. so long as you have the right API key, you shouldn't have any problems. So just check that key first, and make sure it is the correct one for the site. Failing that, get in touch with Akismet and see if they might be able to help you.
In Kyle's Privacy Policy, there's a section mentioning "advertising partners." (See below)

You can just copy and paste the text Kyle gives you for the Privacy Policy and change it to make it suitable for your website instead of the example. You do not EVER need to mention which companies you are an affiliate for (except Amazon who insist on you using their affiliate disclosure). You (also) need a generic affiliate disclosure to keep the powers that be happy. ~Marion
Thank you for the clarification, Marion! I'll leave it as is, then...until I add Amazon, that is! :)
You can, but I haven't done this Beck. If it looks like it becomes an issue, just add something like
"Companies that use tracking cookies that may be used to track your choices and browsing history. Please not that we have no control over the actions of these companies, but we have taken every step to avoid companies that follow these practices."
Hope this helps you out.

Thanks, Shawn! I was just thinking, that would be an awful lot of updating on that part of the page as affiliates are added! :D

I have 15 subscribers on my camping gear site. What does this mean? Do I need to do anything with them?
Perhaps you have something that will really work for you. If your content has been compelling, these subscribers might be saying they would like to automatically receive your future blogs. Sounds like the beginning of a list to me.
If your list continues to grow organically, and you feel they are legit, you may want to look into an autoresponder to more responsively service them. If you're on a budget or until your list grows large you may be able to get buy with a Free Autoresponder (like ListWire). AWeber is probably the best, but it's about $19 a month.
If you are not actively soliciting subscribers on your website in order to build an email list, then these are likely people who are becoming subscribers so that they can spam your website by commenting. Your Akismet plug in will pick up the comments and put them in your spam folder. Just delete them.
As your website following grows, I would encourage you to start offering some incentive for your readers to subscribe and start building a legitimate email list for marketing.
Hope that helps!
Christy
Hi Christy! None of these people have spammed me. In fact, I only have six comments on that site and all are legit.

I'm asking because I have more pages than posts and I'm doing a bit of site clean up and reoganization. For example, most, if not all, of my content under my "build a website" men
Thank you ALL for your help! I truly appreciate it! I will take all advice into account before I change anything. Thanks again!
To me, pages are more of a website overview, and posts are articles that fill up the content.
I think having too many pages on a website makes it look too cluttered.
I agree with bazboy247, don't worry about changing one to another. Jay has said in a video tutorial that you should NEVER change, as it will affect those posts and pages which are already indexed on Google.
I used to want to clean up like you, but now I just move forward. I have some posts on my menu where technically pages should be, so I'd just concentrate on content creation if I were you!
I would not worry about pages or posts but think about you content does it convert your visitors into buyers, your visitors do not care about pages or posts they only care about if your content adds value to their lives, does your website solve their problems
Focus on adding value to your readers, leave your pages as pages it the content on them that matters
Barry
If you can watch Jay's video re managing your content. the pages are there as an 'evergreen content', i.e. it's constant, and nothing to change or add for years. If you think you'd be adding more contents on your blogs, then put it under posts. I'll post the link to you soon.
Hi Beckie,
The answer is a definate yes and you can tag your posts to your pages, that is what I do.
That would be good because you can archive it that way. But you will have to re-organise your menus.
Should i convert some of my pages to posts?
