Other use of a 301 redirect

A 301 redirect can also be used for various tasks on your blog.

1 - When rewriting an old post
If you rewrite an old post and change the heading (which also changes the URL of the post) you can set up a 301 redirect from the old URL to the new URL.
I have a training on this here: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/how-to-update-your-...

2 - Combining 2 old posts into one new
Set up a 301 redirect for each of the old posts to the new post

3 - When deleting old posts
If you find an old post to be out of date and you want to delete it, you can set up a 301 redirect for the old post to wherever you want the user to end up.
Just remember that if the visitor doesn't find what he expects to find, it's a bad user experience. It is always better to update old posts than to delete them.

When moving from a siterubix subdomain, I think SiteSupport can help you with the move of a complete site including comments and ranking.
(Most likely this is not a 'moving' of the site, it is more a change of where the new domain is pointing.)

If moving single posts and wanting to keep comments, you can do an export/import like suggested in a comment below.
I will update the training to mention this.

Hi Jorn, Thank you for your reply. You know I actually had not thought about contacting SiteSupport on this one.
You are right of course that would be an easy #1st question to ask.

Thanks for the tips. I have still book marked this training in case I need it. Cheers
