The functionality of the original blog

So, how will moving a post affect the visitors of the original website, and what about all the links to the post that I have no control over?

Internal links on your website
There is no need to adjust internal links that point to a moved post. If somebody clicks that link they will be redirected to the post on the new website.
Over time you can edit old 'internal' links so they appear external, all depending on how your text is and so on. This will also help market your new website.

Backlinks from God knows where
All visitors to the old location will seamlessly be redirected to the new location. If you have backlinks that you are in control of, you may eventually have them changed, but no need to stress over this.

Links from Google and other search engines
For some time, your old URL will appear in search results. But when the result is clicked, visitors will end up on the new location of the post. Eventually, the search results will correct itself (more about this later).

When moving from a siterubix subdomain, I think SiteSupport can help you with the move of a complete site including comments and ranking.
(Most likely this is not a 'moving' of the site, it is more a change of where the new domain is pointing.)

If moving single posts and wanting to keep comments, you can do an export/import like suggested in a comment below.
I will update the training to mention this.

Hi Jorn, Thank you for your reply. You know I actually had not thought about contacting SiteSupport on this one.
You are right of course that would be an easy #1st question to ask.
