Is it possible to change site manager picture here at WA. The picture showing your current running sites.

Hmm I'm a bit ocd though and it's really bugging me, support says it's possible but they won't say how as they can only advise on website issues.

Not sure you can, you can only see it yourself anyway

I have a site listed in my site manager where the picture that is showing is not of the actual site, it seems to have picked a pic from some other theme. Support assures me it c

How often does that happen?

I am talking about the site manager here at WA - when you open it it shows a list of all your sites. One of those site pictures seems to be of a random theme it is not taken from my actual site.

What is your URL so I can see what you are talking about please

My dash? I'm not sure I'm on the same page here. If I'm in my site manager I have 5 tabs across the top - Manager, feedback, domains, email and support. What is the route?

It could be that WA will present it properly the next time it updates

Well you can go into your dash, go to appearance then theme options and you may find the relevant place to change it in there

Why does WA hosting not have a c panel and more to the point how does a c panel help or hinder

Ok so a c panel is for more advanced users then. I have had hosting with Hostgator for more than a year and have only used c panel twice, once for an add-on domain and once to install Wordpress on my Domain, was wondering what whole point of it was.

Most of what is required to build a website here is done with the use of plugins. There is no real need to use c-panel. Giving non technical users the ability to work behind the scenes is very problematic. Its much easier to build with the add ons available and the training here.

Easier is definitely better, agreed.

I seem to have many images that are not showing in the Chrome browser. They just show what looks like a torn sheet of paper. Googled it and it seems a common problem but no fixe

Tried both suggestions but no joy, any others

May just be you needing a chrome update Steve

I used to get this issue. I have to clear my cache and re upload the images.

Hope it works for you

Cheers

I have another site that has been running for some time at Hostgator, it is Wordpress based. I don't really want to pay for hosting there if I get free hosting here, can I move

"was under the impression it was just a case of changing the DNS over, what is happening here? and how do I get my site back?"

Nope, DNS just points to where your website files are. A lot of members make the mistake of assuming/telling others that just changing the name servers, you can relocate a website. It doesn't work like that. When you create a website here for the first time, you don't need to worry about it since the website is already hosted in WA, just pointing DNS completes the process.

What you need to do on top of changing DNS settings, is to use FTP to transfer your files to servers at WA. You might be able to get support for this from here.

Go to Siterubix > Site support and create a ticket. Maybe they might have a look for you.

Shaun

Am trying but had no response yet ( 5 hours ) what is worrying me is that changing the DNS back to Hostgator the site still doesn't show.

They will most likely get back to you within 24 hours. If you changed your DNS back hostgator then it should work, provided you didn't fiddle around with any other settings.

It takes couple of hours for DNS settings to resolve so give it sometime.

Oh dear I think something has gone horribly wrong here as I can't find the site on either of the servers, I can't login to Wordpress, I can't login to Filezilla, the WA ftp page won't load seem to have nothing. Beginning to think I should have left it at Hostgator.

OK some help needed here. I have a website that has been running some time on Hostgator I want to move it here as hosting is free. Have followed the guide and changed the DNS to point to WA but now my site is not showing and I'm left with a placeholder page stating :

To upload your website content, please use your favorite FTP client and point it at woodworkingprojectsonline.com

was under the impression it was just a case of changing the DNS over, what is happening here? and how do I get my site back?

Change the DNS back. You will see the site. Do a backup of the content or use WP Clone plugin to back it up for transfer.

Then change the DNS to WA and restore from the backup to the new site you set up at WA.

Thanks for the reply. I know how to change the DNS but the rest of that is like another language.

Changed the DNS back but it still shows the placeholder page from WA it's only been 10 mins should I just leave it for a while with my fingers crossed.

One thing to remember is WA does not have c panel

And this may be a silly Q but how does not having a c panel help or hinder?

Thanks for all the replies, I am also hosting a site for my sister there I think it was made at Weebly would that transfer here too?

Hi Steve

As a premium member you can host as many sites as you want to here at no extra charge.

Your profile picture is AWESOME. Reminds me of one of my cats who does the very same. And is black too.

Blessings
Pauric

Oh yeah!

--VERY IMPORTANT--
I could take up to 24 hours to transfer. Sometimes it's instant, but it could take 24 hours so don't panic and mess with the settings.

Try following along with this. It will be very similar for each host:

Let me know how it goes!

Thanks for the link, think I'll go through it tomorrow as it's nearly 1am now and my brains a bit scrambled right now

yes ofcourse, You just need to contact tech support and submit a ticket to have them bring it here for WA to host, unless your registrar has an option to do it yourself.

OK where abouts do I contact tech support, sorry so many links not sure where to go

Yeah man, bring it over!

Why waste the money when you have hosting here right?

I'm looking at the process for you now. You originally bought the domain through host gator, correct?

I bought the domain a Godaddy and hosted it at Hostgator

Hi. Yes, you can move your website to WA and yes, you can have as many websites as you can build here as well. :)

Are you sure it's still unlimited websites Michelle? In a recent email about the black friday offer it had changed to 25 own domain and 25 site rubix. I'm puzzled!

Hey Kathy. :) It appears that I didn't read that email (shame on me) and better go back through my inbox. I can't even imagine having 25, but that is beside the point! Thanks for responding. :)

I'm still not sure because some members say it's still unlimited!
