Just to clarify that it is nothing of the hosting's fault. Some low-lifers has nothing better to do than to scour the internet and they do get to websites organically. If that setting is ticked so that anybody can register... well then anybody can.

In your WP BackOffice - go to Settings > General and in Membership, make sure that "Anyone Can Register" is clear.

Also if you do allow someone don't give the admin rights either that way they have full control of the website.

There are also many other spam blocker plugins on Wordpress. You'll find them by going to plugins (within your Wordpress dashboard), clicking Add New and searching for it.

Whenever you key-in your question, a dropdown list of blogs will appear so that you can try to solve your problem with these quite similar question. Just ignore them and click on "x" at the end of right side. This will let you type in your main message in the box.
After that click submit - There you have your support ticket submitted.

You could reach the support by clicking on Help Center on the left side of your homepage. Then choose support and send him a letter in which you explain the problem.
This happened to me twice and the support helped me to fix it
