I tried to search my post with my targeted keyword. I can see my page in the third page of the search results. however, when I click on my post from the search result. it shows

Did you alter the title of your post? If you did that can cause temporary problems.

Have you submitted your sitemap to Google and other search engines?

It might happen when you get your site crawled by googlebot and then you change permalink of your post - google points to the old address and your post has new permalink (new url address)
When you go through google's link it will go to wrong page on your site and if you have redirect plugin it redirects it to homepage to avoid showing 404 page not found message.

You can check if it is the case by copying the link from google search and opening it in new window, then checking if url changes to your homepage.
Or by performing google fetch (in search console) on address pointed in google - it will show "redirected" message when url is incorrect.

Or google can point to wrong post, but i would not count on that, especially if it always ends up on your newest post (from blog roll)

Perhaps this particular keyword is used as an ordinary word in your ranked post so it shows when you search, instead of the expected post which is probably badly ranked. I had the same situation.

thanks.

Is it possible that the post that actually shows up in the search results also inadvertently contains the keyword?

It makes sense that your older post is the one that ranking, because the longer it's been published the more likely it is to be ranked.

Check the url in the search results. Which post does it point to? If it points to your first post, then I think that post just got ranked under a keyword you weren't intending for it, but that's not a bad thing.

We try hard to get our posts and pages to rank under certain keywords, but in the end its Google's decision what posts/pages get ranked for what keywords, and it's not always exactly what we aimed for.

That's my theory....

Hi themrj, you are right. Thanks for the reply.

I believe that the link may be wrong. Are you referring to the Google link that takes you to your site or your link that that you inserted on your page? Or perhaps Google is simply referring to your home page and not your post in particular? Regardless, you are third on the first page of Google? That is awesome!

I'm referring to the google link that take me to my site. I expect that it will bring me to that particular targeted keyword post, instead, it always brings me to the first post of my site.

Did you make your first post as sticky posts? Or you make it as static.

Sticky posts? I'm not sure what is sticky posts or if you could point me where to check? thanks a lot.

It happens to me once. All post quick edit

Let me try. thanks a lot Pio,

I try to search google with "site: domain.com" and "site:www.domain.com" both returned different returned. May i know what is the different?

Hi Jerry, LOL. Luckily you can still understand what I am trying to find out. Thanks a lot for your help.

there cannot be a space between "site:" and "http://domain.com" - it is a special syntax used by google. it returns all URLs in specified domain

When you use "site: http://domain.com"
you really are specifying "site: " or "http://domain.com"

Hope it helped :D
P.S. ohhh... and i was too dense to catch why u used quotation marks at first LOL sorry :D

What is the different between these two search?

May i know how to get my fb share to show the correct image? i'm using SocialMedia Feather. it's showing my profile pic now instead of showing my post image. i found this ht

Glad to hear you have corrected your problem.
Marilyn

Hi All, thanks for the help. i got the show correctly now.

If you are using All in one SEO, at the bottom of your page you have two tabs now. Main Settings and Social Settings. Under Social settings you can input a title and summary, but also further down you can select a picture that you want to use.
Save settings then come back and press the Debug button, it takes you to the FB page where you can do a new scrape. Sometimes several times before you see your picture come through.

The easiest way is to set your desired picture as the 'featured image' in the post. It is in the post editor on the right lower side of the page. It will add the image to the top of your post so check it in preview and edit your post as necessary. You can check and validate the image shared with the FB Open Graph Debugger https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/ by entering the URL of the post.

Jay covered the process in a recent live video class: Check week 4 of the case study around the 1 hour mark.

just add all your social media addresses either on your profile or you can do a blog and add them and we can just add you

You can definitely post your social media addresses on your profile page. Here's mine as an example: https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/mjdimarco You list the addresses under your websites on the right hand side of the page.
