My site health status informs me I'm running on an older version of PHP (7.3.9) and should be updated to 7.4.

Any ideas?

Thanks Muchly

Hi Michelle
In case you don't know... PHP is the programming language used for the development of WordPress. Site support keeps their eye on PHP messages and they update for all of us when it's necessary. There's no harm in talking with site support about the warning message though.

Thanks, Richard,

Keyword, Niche and Market Research

Hi All,

I keep getting emails informing me that my posts have been indexed, however whenever I try to use Jaaxy rank search I get no results.

I type in the keywords

Bear in mind that because a post is indexed does not mean it is ranked. It gets ranked on wording used in the post along with other things. So a post about "XYZ widget review" entitled "XYZ widget review" might be ranked 500 in google, not in the first 10 or 20. However the post might discuss "xyz widget verses abc widget" and be ranked 7 in google for this. And if someone keyed in "xyz widget verses abc widget" in google, you SERP might be shown in the first page. The ranking changes all the time based on what actually happens and how popular your post actually is. In very simple terms, if traffic jumps to it, and then immediately jumps off, google sees that as bad and demotes your position. If traffic jumps to it and stay on the site, google sees that as good and promotes your position.

Thank you, David. I also benefited from your explanation.
Joyce

Yep..

Got It

Thanks

Google indexing your post means that the they are aware of that page and it is in the Google database. Just because a page is indexed doesn't mean its ranked yet. My new website I started have posts indexed but not ranked because my site is only a couple weeks old. How old is your site?

I get it now,

Thank You

it may be that you are not ranking on the first 10 pages of google or the other search engines yet.

Yes I get it now.

Thank You X:-).

Hi Michelle,

The emails you receive are generated from WA.

They simply inform you that your articles have been indexed in Google, i.e. Found by Google.

So, they may not even be ranked as of yet.

Jaaxy rank search will only show you whether you have been ranked positions 1-10 in Google, Bing, or Yahoo.

So, you could in fact have an article ranked at position 11 and it wouldn't show up in Jaaxy because you don't have one of the top 10 places.

Some of your articles may never get ranked in the top 10 positions, so you'll ever see them in Jaaxy.

Some articles could take 5-8 months after writing them to rank in the top 10.

And some articles may rank within a couple of days.

It all depends on your keyword research and the competition.

Thanks
Partha

Ok, I see,

Thank You

Great answers from Partha.

Hi - indexing and ranking are 2 different things. Indexing simply means that Google has found your posts and added them to its search engine.

Ranking is when Google decides on which page to put your posts and can take several months.

Oh ok I see,

Guess that explains it, never mind, will just carry on and wait at least I am clear now.

Thank You X:-).

Thank you, Ms. Diane. I learned from it, too.
Happy New Year!

Good Evening All,

How long does it take a post that has been deleted via both WA and Word Press for it to be deleted from your website?

I had to redo my original

Hi Guys, Sorry for the late response but I really got into a pickle and then started chasing the wrong rabbit up the wrong tree!!

The original problem that I asked you guys for help with I tried but it didn't solve the problem I was having, so I contacted support.

It's a good job that I do safe my work, it’s a habit I already have because of the type of work I've done for years.

Anyhow, I was given advise, which I tried and had success, however before I did that I decided to start again and deleted my site.

It still didn't work correctly and was advised that it can take a little time to propagate, so I left it for a while and had been busy with work the past day or two so hadn't had much time to focus on my site.

Anyhow to cut a long story short this morning I woke up to the same issue, turns out I had a menu problem which support pointed out for me having contacted them again.

They were really helpful and I feel somewhat foolish because I had to sit down and go over my training on Menus in Level 1.

Anyhow lots of lessons learnt, the hard way too, I had to try and do stuff that I hadn't before.

So all's well that ends well and thanks for all the advice, hope you all enjoy the remainder of your day. 🙏🏽

Great question and great answers

Hi, I always do like to keep a copy of my content even if I am not using it for future reference.

However you can delete any document in site content by clicking the bin icon image.

In wordpress, you can save it as pending review or draft. However should you still want to delete it, I would hover over the specific page / post and click the trash can.

Hi,
I do always save my work and I did so in this case, I've been bitten a few times like that in the distant past.

I went into word press and also deleted it from WA, the old page is still up.

Thanks

Just thought I would add

When I check word press everything appears fine, the new post published the old post gone, however, if I visit my site using its link and I arrive on my site the old post is still up

Thanks, Abie I will do that, that sounds like it would work.

Thanks for the help

Will do 👍🏽

Hi Michelle,

WA will keep the backup for up to 60 days. I could be wrong, please check with Site Support.

On WordPress, the Trash feature allows you to remove items without permanently deleting them. If you have previously moved an item to your trash folder, you can restore it within 30 days from the time the item was trashed. After 30 days the posts in the trash will be automatically permanently deleted.

Sometimes that means you've got a cache issue.
A cache is a reserved storage location that collects temporary data to help websites, browsers, and apps load faster. Whether it's a computer, laptop or phone, web browser or app, you'll find some variety of a cache. A cache makes it easy to quickly retrieve data, which in turn helps devices run faster.

So, you can clear your browser's cache and cookies (clear browsing history etc), then you should see the updated page.

Also, you can clear your website's cache by going to Websites > Site Plus+ > Clear Cache.

Hope everything is sorted out for you.
