So, what exactly is the Site Health feature, and why do I think its not that important? If you haven't yet discovered it, head over to Websites, and click on Site Manager. This will bring up your website and on the right-hand side, you will see a Site Health Indicator. For the purposes of this training, I will be using my practice site, in case you are wondering why the results are so poor! Next, click on View Details, then we will move on to the next lesson.

Thanks so much Diane,
I was a bit worried about the plug in number and how to pick the very few to keep a small number. I appreciate this training it helped not just with the plug in quandry but, there were other places as well. Really nice to know where to place my levels of importance for my site along with what is real world, google, and what is WA suggestions.

Thanks again
Ken

Thank you so much for inviting me here, now it's cleared to me and I know what I'm going to do. Every comment leaves on the site visitor needs always a reply, so it looks fresh and well managed by the site author. And many more realistic ideas to be noted here. Thank you so much for this training and for discovering these secrets, but I still call that secret to success, Ms. Diane :-)

Best wishes to you,

Thanks,
Joyce

Hi Diane, thanks for this fresh look on this topic.
I wonder though: is it really that important if a post has 1500 words, or let's say to compare: an average of 1100 words (sometimes a bit more or rarely a lot more) ?
Honestly, when I read myself a post on someones website that is very long, I tend to not focus anymore if it gets to long and just skip a lot of text.
If then people would skip parts with an affiliate link in it, then we would miss out on sales, no ?
Or are the 1500 words just meant for good SEO ?
thanks,
Lizzy

Hi - if you can thoroughly cover the topic in fewer words, then that's fine. But you do have to look at your competition on page 1 of Google. If all the first page results are 1500 to 2000 words, then that tells you the amount of content that Google thinks is necessary to cover that topic, and show your authority.

Ok, thanks. I tend to see in my niche though, that mostly the products that I am talking about and google the keyword, that the first page is like full of Amazon links, Pinterest links etc. Sometimes Etsy, but I am also an affiliate for Etsy.
I should check keywords from general topics, havent payed attention to that yet, thanks for the reminder !

Thank you so much Diane. The point about Plug ins is the same message another very experienced member of WA was making today. As my plug ins are invariably at 0% that is very reassuring hearing it from another WA veteran. Thank you. I`m told by other members that my site speed is fine.

On another issue, I have found some 404 errors on my site via Google Console. I was struggling to resolve them, even with the training I have found here on WA. So I did a search and added this plug in: "404 to 301 - Redirect, Log and Notify 404 Errors" it tells me I have no 404 errors. Any ideas or suggestions to overcome these 404 errors please?

Best Regards

Trevor

Please take some screenshots of your issue and post here, so that we could know what exactly the issue is. Or either you could contact WA site support.

Hey Dianne,

Thanks for posting this training. It answered a lot of questions s for me.

The part about plugins was especially helpful. I used to try and keep my plugin count below 5, to keep my site speed up.

Then I installed 3 plugins to improve my site speed, and ever since then, my site speed has been pretty solid.

I even have 16 plugins installed, and my speed for my site is still over 90% for both mobile and desktop.

However, whenever I try to put code in for Media.net or some other ad system, my site speed bottoms out.

Is there some way of adding Media.net or some other ad system that's lightweight enough to not cause this issue?

Love to hear your thoughts.

Hi - I don't use Media.net, but that is precisely why I removed Google AdSense from a couple of my sites, because they affected the speed. Perhaps you could ak the community if anybody has any answers?

Hey Diane,

I forwarded my comment, so we'll see if anyone knows of a magic bullet for this issue.

I looked at other ad networks, and Media.net is supposed to be one of the better ones for being lightweight.

Have you ever heard of Yllix? It's another ad network I was thinking of trying.

No, I haven't heard of them. A quick glance at Google shows they have mixed reviews, so you will have to give them a try and let us know how you get on.

Hi Diane,
I removed both Google AdSense and Media_net because they affected my site speed as well. When I get enough traffic to make the payments worthwhile then I will probably put them back on a limited basis.

OK.

I am currently trying to get the fellow who's in charge of my account at media.net to optimize my ads.

If that works out, I'll let you know.

It's interesting that you are able to request them to do that. I will wait to hear how you get on.

Yeah. Media.net assigns an account manager to every publisher, but they're overloaded.

It takes the dude a day or 2 to return my emails.

Painful...

Good luck with that one, Steve.

It took me many attempts and quite awhile to get media-net to assign me an account manager. He is very nice and minimally helpful but he did set me up with higher-quality native ads that really matched my blog content from a graphics point of view. They are typically assigned to very large advertising accounts.

Hey Frank,

I wonder how I got someone assigned to me then. I barely have enough traffic to qualify for Media.net

Hmmm...

As you said, everyone can get an account manager but my account is way too piddily for them to take any real interest🙂

That sounds very familiar...
