Six Months Time Out - Getting Back Up On That Horse
My Story,
I became a part of the Wealthy Affiliate family in September 2020 so I'll just mention right off the bat that this is my revised bio but thought I'd like to share it as a post.
It's amazing what a difference sixteen months can make!
I’d like to think I’ve managed to create a pretty good website within my chosen niche here in WA.
My website looks at maintaining good physical, mental and spiritual health via our immune systems.
(you are more than welcome to take a look at my site if you have the time that is, any feedback would be greatly appreciated, you'll find the link on my profile page under the heading Follow Me On)
The training and support you get to tap into here at Wealthy Affiliate are second to none along with a fantastic community of people filled with experience, knowledge and expertise to help you along the way.
The past six months have been quite difficult for me for many reasons as it has for many of us and the knock-on effect of the COVID-19 pandemic along with the many changes in my life really took their toll.
This meant I needed to take a six-month "time out", which also included all my social media platforms too, apart from LinkedIn. (we've all had to pay our bills over this past 24 mths, right?)
There are times in life when the only thing you can do is to take a big step back from it all, take a good deep breath, review, evaluate and make adjustments accordingly.
I never gave up on my website nor did I give up on dreams, my goals, or the belief in myself, well not entirely that is.
However, I still made sure I continued with my monthly subscription here at WA to ensure my website would still be maintained.
The truth is I couldn't have created my website without the training and support I receive here at Wealthy Affiliate. The great training provided and the endless stream of resources are invaluable.
I also knew that once I was ready to “get back on the horse” so to speak, it would be easy to pick up where I had left off.
Now I'm back I'm still able to get on with my training having saved all the hard work I had put in, knowing my site would still be here, still intact for when I was ready to pick up where I had left off.
I never ever gave up on Immune System Explained.
When I first joined Wealthy Affiliate I decided to create my own site rather than become an affiliate, but this is something I would like to do in the very near future.
I made sure I kept an eye on my website but unfortunately, I was unable to give it the focus and commitment it needed.
Well... The good news is I'm back up on that horse!
Albeit a little more tentatively and hopefully a lot wiser, there's still heaps of learning and work to be done.
I’ve lots of fresh ideas in my head, I managed to do quite a bit of research during my ”time out”, I read, listened to podcasts and watched tons of YouTube videos.
I’ve been learning as much as I can about my chosen niche, this at least was something I was still able to do.
A funny thing happened to me recently, I saw a commission on my bank statement generated from my website.
I was "gobsmacked" this was actually my first commission!
Not a fortune granted but enough to add some much-needed fuel to the fire.
I'm thinking..." If my website can draw a commission having given it very little attention over the past six months, then just imagine the commission I could generate by giving it my full attention over the next six months".
This really came at the right time for me, funny how things happen like that, out of the blue just when you need them the most.
It's been a week or so since getting back up on that horse and things don't look half as bad as I had left them.
I've come back with fresh eyes and fresh energy, I'm discovering that I actually learned something in the first eight months of joining WA even though I had beat myself up brutally when I saw little to no results.
I guess the moral of my story so far in my journey here at Wealthy Affiliate and for life, in general, is that no matter what...
Don't beat yourself up when things don't seem to be working out no matter how hard you're trying.
It's not about you, It's about learning, the progression and if you stumble and fall it's about getting up, brushing yourself off and moving forward.
And remember, the reality is that it can take years of hard work and dedication to build a successful online business and that's the stark reality.
You'll find, no matter how hard you look, not many people become overnight successes.
Starting Over
"Start over my darling, be brave enough to find the life you want and courageous enough to chase it.
Then start again and love yourself the way you were always meant to".
