The Panama papers are the hype of the week

Politicians and leaders are sweating with fear.

Hundreds of prominent citizens will fall from their pedestal.

Panama will go into the history books as an exposed scam in tax evasion.

The bad taste of Panama

Will the bad taste of the state of Panama have effects on our websites?

At last, Whoisguard also takes advantage of the anonymity of Panama.

I wonder...???

How do you think about this issue???

The rich and well connected always want more money which leads to more corruption in many place. Always remember that vip doors always open to money and privacy.
Marcel...

Money rules the world Marcel, always has been

What about Love? Without it we wouldn't be here.

Eventually, love will be the big winner, Dirk, but is often overruled in short term money issues.

I always wondered where the wealthy stash their money - and how they find various loopholes to avoid tax evasion. I watched the documentary on BBC and found it mind boggling. To answer your question - If we pay taxes why should'nt they.

Yes, why shouldn't they, I always give up all I earn, and 3 years ago I had deducted something I shouldn't.
As you must know I earn 11.000 a year gross, and of that, I have to pay 2500 tax, I got an additional assessment of 1800
that leaves 6700 for 2000 hours of work = 3,35 earnings an hour

I am so glad they are going after those big boys now. I am quite fed up with our IRS and the sucking out of the working class.

FunnY.....If we all were money-naires ....right now we would be running by the skin of our teeth to save our Hide.... or maybe our Hind....not here in WA trying to be where they are at.....but your are good at your work enjoy....just saying this internet thing is causing me to burn the midnight oil trying to get it togethr=er.....

Never been there, being a money-naires I mean, so I can't tell you what I would do ;)

I have been thinking about getting property in the future down there. I sleep on the floor of my business with what I make here in Cali, down there I could have servants and my own room. Lol.

Of course it is just how I do things for now. Suffer a bit today to create a better tomorrow.

Putin is already spinning a yarn about the truth, politacal leaders do that best. Happens here all the time!!

Cali

It happens all over the world Cali

I just used the Russian vrs American version here. Politics ends up being power and money. A real business can not justify spending 50,000 dollars for a 10 dollar an hour job. Yet that is the basic's of it here in America for our politics. I think Panama will be okay.

I am glad, these things are coming into the light Cali, bit by bit

Guess I have to find another country to move my money to... he say tongue-in-cheek. I didn't know Whoisguard was based in Panama. Thanks for sharing, Loes. :)

Haha, don't chose for the Bahama's either;)

I can safely say I don't have to worry about offshore accounts. lol
Hope you are having a great weekend, Loes. :)

That's a pity! Thanks Mike, same to you:)

Now there is a thought Loes since namecheap use that method for our identity protect will need to watch this space

I hope people will not see this as untrustful Katie

me to perhaps I should move my domain names over to WA wonder if they use panama

Based in Panama? This company must have a lot of money and be very successful;-)

They use Panama too:)

Hi Loes:
Interesting that you brought up the subject. The Panama Papers exposed tax shelters used by people with enough money to worry about those things, and some of them were world leaders and other noteworthy people. If they transferred money to those accounts illegally, without first paying taxes that were legally due, or got the money illegally in the first place, then they have a problem. Having their privacy breached is a huge problem, if they did everything legally.

Are you asking if we have a privacy problem with our websites or may be hacked in some way? And I had never heard of WhoisGuard before. How does it impact our business? Is it something we should be using for our protection?

I'm not sure I understood the implications here. Let us know if we have to look at such issues. Thanks. Ted

Whoisguard protects your data, like phone number, address etc. Your website can't be traced to your private address. Whoisguard, if you take advantage of it, registers your website in Panama.

I was just wondering if the name Panama will give people, who check the trustworthy of my website, a deterrent effect.

Thanks. I get your connection now. I put my address right on my About Me page, but I keep my e-mail addresses separate (personal and business). Thanks again for bringing up the subject -- it's always good to keep vigilant. Keep up the good work. Ted

:)

I've been following this thread since it started, and it seems to me that the bigwigs are the ones that have to quake. I, for one, don't have the wherewithall to make the power brokers notice me.
I don't think that any of us here at WA are really at risk. Loes, there are a lot of things registered in Panama - ships, major manufacturers, etc. None of them seem to be having problems, so I don't think we will. It's just a 'blip' on the world financial/political map. As I don't finance anyone, nor am I political in nature, I'm clear.

Thanks Ian, I was just wondering. I am in the clear too:)

I asked my eldest son about this, as well as my youngest sibling, and they are both in the world of finance. I have been assured that the only people who will suffer with these disclosures are the ones consciously trying to avoid their countries' tax systems. My youngest brother is VP of a corporate wealth management entity with fingers all over the world.

Thanks for verifying Ian

Np

My dentist has actually been to Panama.

He was looking for the Root Canal...

Very funny...

If you aren't some fat cat politician or business mogul with boatloads of off-shore money , then no one is interested in you. Still, you bring up a very interesting ( and scary ) point.

I am not afraid someone will be interested in my money, I just wonder, when customers are investigating my website if it will effects their trust in me, seeing it's registered in Panama
