SEO Can Be So Strange, Check This Out
So I had this post done back on Feb 15 2017, and at that time the keyword I used had Search Volume of 92 and QSR of 2 which to me was a great keyword as I usually go for anything with Search > 50 and QSR < 50.
However, this post took 7 MONTHS for it to reach my number 1 visited post in September with over 900 visits for the month.
But guess what, the keyword for this Feb post is now Search 42 and QSR 0 which is weird since my post should still be valid as it stayed number 1 visited post of my whole site until this week, so QSR should be at least 1.
Anyway, I don't worry about about that this post is always on page 1 in the top 5 somewhere on Search Console.
It's been number one visited page on my site for a few weeks until...
NOW.
I wrote a post for a program that had Search 136 and QSR 2, and I had searched Google about it too before I wrote it and knew I could reach page 1 no problem.
So I did and published it right away on Oct 18 since it would be good to catch that search wave.
It worked... I checked it now just 7 days after it published which now has reached to the number #1 spot and surpassed the Feb post!
For the last 30 days:
- The Feb post increased from Sep of 938 visits to 1,198 visits for the last 30 days as of Oct 25.
- The Oct 18 post raised to #1 spot in no time to 1,219 visits for the last 30 days as of Oct 25.
I think that's insane how a post can surge so fast while another one took so long to get to my number one spot just to be over taken by something that's more relevant in search.
You just never know what's going to happen and what post will bring you the traffic but if you can just keep using low hanging fruit keywords as you write your posts, this is the best you can do. :)
Hey now I have two posts that bring in so much traffic, that's freaking awesome! No complaints here. :)
I get these stats from Google Analytics under Behavior > Site Content > All Pages.

I have one post that shot up 95 places recently to Google rank #6. I have no idea why since it is not a post I have updated recently...who knows. I am happy though!
That's good stats for any keyword in that niche, as it's so competitive. You're obviously doing something right.
This happens all the time. You're getting traffic from different variations of your keyword. I've had posts that were only suppose to get 100 or 200 clicks a month and end up getting me a few thousand a month. This is especially true when I get the first overall spot for a keyword. It just ends up ranking for a million other terms too
This is great to hear Dylan, thanks for your insight! I do see the Feb post ranking for all sorts of keywords related to that. I'm just surprised the Oct post's traffic has surged so quickly, it's really fun to see. :)
Awesome numbers. I have one post on Page one of Google but not near your numbers. But I feel if I just keep cranking out quality content and following the training it will all work out and I can post something like this one day :) Thanks for the inspiration.

Is it possible...... all my posts are on first page but I am no where near you numbers.
Of course, in time you will be, when I was at your stage, I didn't have these numbers as well. :)

Hi Grace - yes certainly did in the early days and in fact gave up even looking so just write with ponytailed keywords that have good stats
