I figure out an outline. Usually with a framework I can BS through 500-1000 words. If I'm unhappy, I sit on it for a day, then come back to it. I can usually edit it pretty well the next day. Introduction: Achieving 500 Words Through Practice
This is definitely something I suffer through. I seem to have no problem talking to people about almost anything, however, when it comes to writing it down suddenly I become tongue-tied.
All of my brilliant ideas sound trite and cliche when put on paper.
All of this might still be ok, except it does not seem ok to me, and I am the person who has to push the publish button.
I have yet to find my way around this, but I am working on it.
I find that too, when I say it out loud to someone it sounds great. But to write it out just never comes out the same!
Hi Leah,
At the risk of repeating some of the great advice here, I can say that this happens to all of us. For me, I usually just start reading blogs that share my similar interest to see if anything sparks -- if that fails, then I look further.
For example, Inc.com, or Entrepreneur.com have great articles about small business, marketing, growth, etc, and maybe there is something there that can lead to something else.
I also look through a lot of the books that I own that are of a similar subject matter to my site, and that also can spark an idea.
Lastly, I read through the blogs online that I am familiar with, in my niche area of interest, to see what they are all writing about.
Also, I usually just start writing -- and the title is last. Hope that helps!
I am having the same problem. I am thinking of using a hammer and chisel but I am afraid that I would use it on my head.
Haha that is a good way of putting it! I feel like that too! Just want to hang my head on a wall for a bit and see if that helps!
Great comment and common problem. This happened to me recently. The first thing I did was look at my niche as a whole and ask myself if it still interests me. Once I answered yes I narrowed it down to what type of blog post. Once I knew product review I searched my older posts to see if there was something that jumped out at me. Nothing did so I just started looking at my affiliate programs and trying to get ideas for what to promote from that. Eventually I I found some good keywords to go from and went from there. When I write my posts i usually write the title, the first sentence and four or five paragraph headings before I start trying to write content. This helps overall to direct me on what to write. If it is a boring paragraph title then I change them until they sound exciting and interesting to read.
Another thing I do from time to time is just take a break from it all. I focus on other things and the next thing you know a blog idea will tap me on the shoulder.
There Is no magic bullet but it helps if you are completely engaged by whatever your niche is. Good luck
This is a great question and thank you for asking it. You are not alone. I experience the same thing at times.
The way I do find ideas sometimes is by, sometimes reading random blogs in my niche. I go through the comments and sometimes people will leave you ideas to write your next article.
Or I go through WA training, blog post, or comments. And, when signing up for different products, I receive information on additional products so, that gives me ideas as well.
I know I may not have helped much but, hopefully, you can get some more ideas out of my comment. Hang in there, I think everything will get better as time goes on...
What I do when this happens to me, is that I read blogposts here at WA and see common themes that are causing pain or difficulty for people
Most of the time this will throw up an idea for a post.
With Grace and Gratitude
Karen
I understand exactly where you are coming from! You are not alone! Content creation has always been my achilles heel but I will say that since I joined WA a month ago and was introduced to Jaaxy that my article writing has been flowing at a much steadier pace. What I do is plug my ideas(keywords) into Jaaxy then take those ideas and search for them in Google and other search engines. This does two things for me, it gives me ideas of what to write about and it gives me an idea of what sites are ranking for those keywords(my competition). I read the articles on those sites and come up with my own articles and topics. It takes some work but since I have been doing this I have come up with some great article ideas that I will hopefully be able to rank for eventually. I hope this helps and don't give up! If I can do this ANYONE can! I hope this helps!

Thanks! I have been doing research but my mind just isn't with it. I am going to definitely try your way and see if that helps! Thank you again!
OH MY! Thank you, that was quite a read, but I did get a ton of ideas from it...now just putting those into words! Definitely a HUGE help!
