Hi folks happy (Halloween )weekend to you all ( if celebrating)
Could someone help a non techy to understand some technical stuff?😂
I was previously on a differen

Building an email list is an important part of creating an online business - some would say THE most important part.
Aweber is an autoresponder which stores your email list and allows you to ethically send emails to the people on your list.
Its the autoresponder that I personally use but it comes with an expense. There are free alternatives of which the best is probably Mailchimp.
The process of building a mailing list is more of an advanced strategy. I would suggest that it might be best to learn the skills in the WA training and build out a good website first with lots of content and then think about building a list.
In the meantime you could watch some videos on youtube to get a better idea of whats involved

MailChimp deletes accounts that post affiliate marketing and home-based business links, had a team member got his MailChimp account deleted last week. It's in MailChimp's Terms of service.

Personally I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole even if they paid me :-).

Yes so I believe, however if you send a link to your website where the customer can then click on an affiliate link - rather than send the link via mailchimp seems to be a way around this.

Yes, you can do bridging pages and other things, but to me, the principle of closing down someone's account because they sent an affiliate link or home-based business link in an autoresponder email message, to me that is a joke.

What if you forget one day.

Your email list is toast :-(

Don’t get me wrong - I agree with you and hence pay for aweber. But if someone is on a budget then it’s an option to get started.

Thanks Dave for your message. Though I may be thinking to much ahead, but I hope WA will teach me that too, since I understand that it is the most important part of the business. The techical stuff is scary to me, because I don't understand it....it's like a language that I don't speak and it makes me worried, but I quest I'm not alone with this.... 😊 I will hold on to the AWebber and look for a place to learn about it. Thanks for the advice. Have a great long weekend.

If you are going to be building an email list than some type of autoresponder will be essential Kornelia. I would always recommend Aweber as I have been using it for several years with no problems and a very good delivery rate.

Derek

Thanks for your attention and time .I really appreciate it.

This is optional depending on your online business. Personally I would not worry about this until your website has traffic coming in everyday. Then I would consider it. Until then, I would work on building up the website (If it hasn't already been built up).

Hi Vitality thanks for answering my question. Would you recommend me to cancel my Awebber account for the time being and open one at a more advanced stage of my dusiness?
It seems like I won't need it for a while. .. if I'm understand it correctly. ..

I would hold of on using that and cancel for the time being and just come back to it later, unless you can afford the $19.99 a month.

Building a mailing list is an essential part of marketing online. So not a bad plan at all :-)

Folks Im having problems finding my way on the dashboard .I wanted to writ this Q to someone who reply to my previous question but lost the thread and can find. : ((
so the

if you create a new siterubix site and put the theme on there you can try out the theme without problems.
there is a plugin called easy populate posts that will add dummy content for you to see how the theme looks populated.
you can then go to appearance - customize and change the settings without touching your main site
the main thing to remember is that when you look through the themes the designers have fully loaded the premium theme and the free theme may not have all the features
as i said before astra, generatepress, and oceanwp and now Loes has thrown into the mix weaver extreme.
you have a few to choose from and try out.
add images to the header - try different sizes
but don't get too lost at the start of your journey
choose a plain theme and get content on there - and more content - aim for between 10-15 artices before you start changing your theme. take a break form creating content between articles and try a few new things on the test site...but create content.
otherwise it will be a bit like dressing up a shop window with no stock inside- who is likely to come back.
but you ca have stock in a shop and people will browse. you can then think about window dressing
good luck
phil
you should be able to find previous questions from your profile page - at the top ae numbers and there shuld be one or two under the questions tab

Thanks for your time and helping me . I really appreciate it. I think I'm leaving a side the idea of changing it, since I won't know what to do if things go wrong....I'm not technical, and afraid of the whole thing-to be honest.... : )

that's the beauty of using a test site - if it goes wrong then just delete it no worries.
have a play with a theme on a siterubix site - break it - delete the site and make another one.
this way you will learn how not to break your main site.
have fun
phil

Ok so you can change your theme from two places.. you can go to your dashboard and click appearances, then click customise. This will take you to the customise pane where you can choose different themes and see how your site looks before you click save. If you don’t click save, you revert back to your original theme so nothing lost.. you can also choose a theme directly from the Wordpress dashboard under themes.. it’s with appearances.. but.. to be totally honest, I wouldn’t fret too much about your theme right now.. I changed mine about 4 times before I finally bought a theme I wanted to use.. I wouldn’t recommend that right now unless you’re fairly experienced with Wordpress. I wasn’t.. so finally now I have a theme I like but it was a huge learning curve to get it to how I wanted it. If I can help more. Please PM me..

Thanks Helen .You have convinced me to leave it as it is, as much as I don't like it, because I feel under pressure already. Im not familiar with website building and walking on an unknown territory freaks me out. Thanks for helping me to realise this. XX

Hi - if you go to your own profile page, by clicking on your photo, at the top you will see a tab marked questions. You can see your questions, and the answers you have received.

Thanks so much. You made it one step easier for me. XX

Hi folks happy Tuesday to all
I was wondering if you can help. I would like to change the theme from the one Kyle is recommending in his tutorial ,but having a problem choo

I am using Weaver Xtreme, it's the best free theme I ever saw here. Changing themes can go very smoothly, but can also become a nightmare, and everything in between.

Hi Kornelia. I use the generatepress theme on all my sites.
For page building i use Thrive architect but that is a paid tool.
You can use the basic version of Elementor for free

Good luck
Dave

drag and drop - only with a page builder
i would recommend looking at elementor as a pagebuilder as you start for free.
theme wise i would recommend astra - with the starter pack or generatepress or oceanwp.
is there a theme good in all aspect ...nope it is always a compromise.
my advice would be to try these out on a test site and have a play to see what you can do before adding them to your main site.
enjoy
phil

I use a Hestia one and find it extremely stable with some good content.

Thanks for sharing. I just wonder when changing theme, do I have to start from scratch in terms of plugins, other settings. .. etc ?
This may be a "stupid Q" but I'm not so technical. ...😊
