Do you know the potential of the WA blog?
This is a topic that has been talked about many times before in various blogs and training, but I think it stands another repetition.
I also write this because I don't use this potential as I should.
When I write for my websites, I do it scientifically, with keywords, long tail, and LSI keyword planning plus a huge effort on layout, CTA, and illustrations.
Here, on the WA blog, I don't care. I use this blog as a place to ventilate, to write what comes to mind without worrying about anything. I use it to practice writing. I could have used a service like 750words.com but I choose to do it here.
But the fact is that what we write here ranks like crazy.
I will not elaborate too much on why that is good. You will find all the info you need in this brilliant training by Rob: How to Make Money with your WA Blog...
You can also do a search and find more training and information about this.
So maybe I will start to think a bit more about this and set a goal for 2018 that I should put a bit more effort into at least half of my posts here.

there are rules about it though, and they aren't always so clear so I asked about this a number of times from the horse's mouth as some members really promote their own niche - WA is a particular niche, we are supposed to blog related to that niche is what I've been told, so if I were to do a blog on some aspect of my health niche and the system picked it up then I could be locked out
so I can't rank my health niche stuff or my own sites here using WA as a backlink but I can write a post relevant to the niche that can potentially get referrals for me within WA
some of the posts to the dashboard at times are quite surprising imo, there was talk of filters being put on so we could choose not to have to dredge through a ton of stuff we didn't want and be easier able to find stuff we did want, I hope they come true in 2018
jvranjes has blogged at times about some of the stuff in WA ranking high in google that is quite hilarious/shocking because of people going a bit wild on the dashboard at times and not realizing they are getting big exposure, could be quite an embarrassing 'review' out there to anyone considering joining..?!
It's true, the blog will not fit all niches. And no matter what niche we cannot link outwards from WA.
Biu you could blog about niche advice and things related to your niche without it being any kind of promotion of your site. And WA backlink to your site is not possible other than form the websites listed on your profile.
And inwards linking to your blog (as I gave an example of to Nick-at-WA somewhere below) is more suited when WA or affiliate marketing, in general, is the niche.
I agree that a filter option could be nice, and I absolutely agree that not all are aware that what they comment inside WA actually is exposed to the outside world.
Thanks J. As I said earlier, I always enjoy reading your content.
(I hope you don't mind me calling you J?) :)
Sometimes I feel that I should write more blogs here (that wouldn't be hard to do!).
I know that it ranks like crazy but I prefer to put my good posts on the website, maybe it is time to re-think.
Great post, good reminder on the value of posting in WA
It's what I do as well - the good posts go on the website.
But if you have a post on the website called "8 brilliant Xmas gifts for bloggers" you could end the post with a teaser and a link to a WA blog called "The best Xmas gift for a blogger".
Or something like that
It's maybe more clickable than an obvious affiliate link, and once they visit the cookie is planted and if they join they are yours.
