Hi WAers

I'm busy writing an article for my website and wanted to upload a picture, but instead, I got a message saying "The uploaded file could not be moved to wp-conte

That's my first time to hear that and I have never encountered that notice.

Hmmm, there seems to be some kind of bug going on. Like Kaju (Jetrbby80316) had been blocked by Jay (magistudios), don't know if that was intentional. Then comments marked as spam on websites, probably not related to WA, but it's weird.

Hi Kelly, thanks, Site Support sorted it out for me...everything is fine now.

That's great.

There may be many reasons like:

1. Some special sign in the image file name. Use only letters and numbers.
2. Too big image. Make it well below 100 kB.
3. Restart computer and/or flush dns. This usually solves the problem.
4. Any new plugin recently? There may be conflict among plugins.

Hi Jovo, thanks, Site Support sorted it out for me...everything is fine now.

Actually, I had the same issue today. Surprisingly, no one of those steps helped so I had to contact the Support. This must be something at the hosting side.

I didn't see your screenshot but have you tried a different web browser to upload with or saved the image in a different format?

I couldn't even upload a screenshot here.

Are you using SiteContent or your blog directly?

I use Site Content for the templates,
Statistics/goals and access to the free image library. It also alerts me when my posts are indexed.

My blog directly...

I think you should stop writing on your blog directly and use SiteContent. In the beginning you might find it "strange" but very soon you'll adopt it happily.

The problem with publishing from your blog is that you risk uploading non-optimized images to your website which will slow it down. And Google doesn't like slow sites.

However, SiteContent images are optimized already for your site.

I already uploaded screenshots in my post and when I wanted to add another one, I got that message.

Is it in a different format than the others? I would guess not if they're all screenshots but still...

I used to use Site content but I don't like it...Maybe I should try it again :)

Same format...all screenshots

Very odd..try changing the same or saving it again in an image program to see if there's just something with that one file causing the issue. If that doesn't work, I'd open up a ticket with Site Support.

Thanks Scott, I'll just go to Site Support.

You can also use SiteContent to upload whatever image to your blog. Don't overload your site. I have that problem now and I'm actually deleting many of the images on my old posts.

I also didn't like SiteContent the first few times I used it, but now not even a gun on my temple will stop me from using it. Even if it was the worse between it and WordPress, just the optimized images make SiteContent the logical choice.

Thanks Akoli, I will seriously consider it.

Nick - you may want to open a ticket with Site Support for the image uploading issue:

Thanks Laurie

Yes, I agree with NewLaurie's idea.

Hi Everyone

How do I underline a word or paragraph in the WP Block Editor?

Thank you.

Trish has a good answer and one I certainly agree with

hey hi Nick-at-WA --- excellent question and it looks like Ambassador Trish has researched for super answers as well ....

also, with the underline function, in legal documents, it is used sparingly due to the 'attention' that it gives to the document so that may also be another reason why the wordpress team removed it as a character function ....

we all learn so much here & thanks kindly for sharing....

keep well, keep happy!

all the best, cheerio ... :)

Thanks Keisha

Hey Nicolaas,

Google searching your question, themeskills.com offered the following tip:
"All you have to do is to select the text and click CTRL + U (on Windows) or CMD + U (on macOS) on your keyboard."

And Moderator Marius L. J. at wordpress.org stated the following:
"...we actually removed this in WordPress 4.7, to quote the editor team from that release:
The underline and justify buttons have been removed from the bottom row. Underlining is a bad practice as readers can confuse it with links (bad accessibility), and it does not insert a semantic element."

Hope you find this helpful.

Thank you, Trish

Hi how do I create a bullet list under a number list in the new WordPress editor?

Thank you

Just worked out how to do it. When you want to add the bullet list tap enter which will bring up the next number. Then tap "indent" then the bullet symbol.
Hope this helps.
olette and Philip

Thank you very much...it helped

Pretty cool .. I had battled with .. and cursed .. that, without actually pondering how to do it

One thing I didn’t like with the basic procedure you outlined, was that the first “Unordered” List items (indented and under an Ordered” list item, always showed an open circle, instead of a filled circle. .. BAH HUMBUG ..........

Had to think about that a minute, and I pondered it out ...

For the first Ordered list item/level, you can define it as this:

...

    { Note: You can set the ‘type’ as Circle, Square, and None .. as you desire }

Not the only way, of course (thinking CSS), but this’ll do the job

    Regards

    Joe

Thanks Joe...much appreciated.

Sorry, Nick, we misread your question. Not sure if you can create a bullet list within a numbered list but we are looking into that now.

We assume you mean in Block Editor. If so, click on the + symbol in the top left-hand corner and you will see the option to create a list.

Hi, what do you say would be the negatives to choose a soccer team like Liverpool or Manchester United as a niche?

All your opinions would be much appreciated.

Than

Why not focus on soccer gear and other collectibles for all soccer teams?

As Jeanine points out you you may have copyright issues.

What about football jerseys in general?

You will not be restricted to one team then.

Those are pretty popular teams. Yes, your biggest challenge will be the domain name and not running into any copyright issues. But there are plenty of passionate fans for both those teams to make a site popular, especially if you post about controversial topics then invite comments. Everyone will have an opinion.

I know that there are plenty of affiliate programs with items for both those teams. Fanatics.com is one, for example.

Thank you, Jeannine, the controversial topics idea is a very good one, didn't think about it myself. And thanks for the link, I will check it out right now.

A couple of pitfalls I can see...
The domain could be an issue
Also although you have mentioned two teams that are heavily followed all around the world, would you get enough traffic as this is very a niche market... plus all the teams have their own websites etc.

Maybe go for retro shirts that way you could cover all teams ... just thought.

Hope this helps :)
Martin

Hi Martin, that's what I'm looking for...the pitfalls. And you're right they are heavily followed.
Thanks for your input :)

Aside from possible copyright issues (although I think you can refer to them by name without issue), my only concern would be making sure you can write enough quality content. If you can write a bunch of posts about the team and so on then go for it. If not, consider soccer in general vs a specific team.

Hi Scot, yes I think there will be a lot to write about a team and I think soccer as a niche will be too broad.

Thanks, and I'm following you now. :)

Then go for it! I don't know soccer so I wasn't sure how much you could write about a single team. I know sports fans in general love team logo merchandise so monetizing will be no problem.

Thanks for the follow, I followed you back.

Thanks!

My niche promotes summer camps & physical education, but since I coach soccer, I include a lot of soccer info. The amount of products & information on soccer is endless. I think it's a great idea. I'm actually adding to a soccer post of mine as we speak and I came across your question. best of luck!

Thanks Michael, but isn't soccer too broad for a niche, that's why I thought of only one team.
Btw, I'm following you now. :)

The biggest negative I can see is not being able to use their name in your domain name due to copyright.

Thanks Jon :)
