I wanted to get opinions about editing posts that have already been indexed by google.

I'm not talking about changing the title or keywords; but maybe adding a paragraph

Thanks for asking this question Jeff. I did cross my mind too. With my 2 cent knowledge I think maybe if the changes do not affect keywords, it won't hurt.

I would tend to agree Maggie. Thank you for your reply. It is much appreciated!
Cheers!

Hi Jeff, I recently spent 2-3 months updating my old posts to make them better for SEO. It is worth it, they are ranking better and my traffic has increased.

Awesome Jenny! That is good news.
Thank you so much for answering my question.

cheers!

Hi Jeff,

I have just been using Yoast to polish my posts, I'm glad I did as there were lots of mistakes, missing links etc. I felt it was more important that the content read well and kept readers on my pages for longer.

After editing I went into Google console and pasted each URL into the checkbox and sometimes Google couldn't find the link and it was probably like this before I edited. So I clicked find URL and it always did and it would show if it was indexed. Some were, some weren't. I would ask for indexing if not.

It also showed any problems like not mobile friendly etc. I had to reduce a picture and change text to fix it. I wouldn't have known if I'd not checked on Google Console and it would never had been indexed. Just a thought.

So long answer short, editing didn't change the indexed ones and I now know Google will find my other posts. If I did change the heading, I also changed the permalink below it in wordpress.

Hope this helps
Have a lovely productive day

Lily 😊

thank you for replying Lily!
your answers are always helpful ;)

I would also like to know, but my gut feeling is that minor changes, those not in title and SEO, should be ok.

That's my gut feeling also Dave. Just me wondering out loud mostly....

thank you for replying!

For about search engines, think about your visitors. Will your changes enhance their experience? If so, do it... If not - don't do it. Always put your visitors first, not the search engines & then the search rankings will take care of themselves :)

Good advice Dale!

For those of you using All in One SEO Pack:

Do you add keywords for each individual post?

Or do you let the keywords in your content do the talking?

Thank you

Hi Jeff,

I put low hanging keywords in my title after checking them in jaaxy and in google search. I then make sure I use them in the first paragraph.

Do you have Yoast on your website?

Lily 😊

I do not have Yoast. I’ve been looking into that. I only have All-in-one SEO since it came pre-installed. Wasn’t sure if having Yoast and All-in-One SEO would be redundant.

Do use both? Or do you use Yoast instead of All-in-One SEO?

I understand the use of keywords in my content. I’m still a little unclear how the SEO plugins compliment my content.

Thank you so much for your reply!

Jeff

Hi Jeff,

Yes I use both. I didn't know it existed and why it would really help me but my Coach Jake Cao very kindly fixed some issues on my website and loaded it.

Wow, it's awesome because after I publish my post it has these indicators to show the readability and SEO rating, with colors and comments.

First time it showed Orange and a readability of OK ( Ouch! gee thanks) but when I scrolled down to the bottom of the post it will list the problems and how to fix them until the light turns green.

Great learning tool.

Lily 😊

Thank you so much for clearing that up for me Lily!
Definitely sounds like a useful tool.

I appreciate you my friend.

Do you use social media to promote your site?

If so, do you use plugins?

I use Sassy Social Share on WA site and Hustle on health site, Jeff.

No problem at all, Jeff.

I'm using sassy social share. I've looked at a few others, but only use the plugin.

Thank you for your reply Palatia; I appreciate your input and your recommendation!

I use Ultimately Social. It has the most users, most frequently updated, and best reviews by far over the others. Search your new plugins under "social media" and you will see the ratings.
I have had zero problems with them.

Thank you for your reply and recommendation Mark. I appreciate it!

Hi Jeff,
I think in this day and age it is very important to promote your site using social media. Social media can bring tons of traffic to your site.
I am currently using a social media plugin called Social Snap lite. I like it because it is very fast and lightweight and doesn't slow down my site. I was using the social share plugin that was recommended in the training but found it really affected my site speed in a bad way!
There are many plugins to choose from, and you can see which one works best for you. Just be sure to test how the plugin affects your speed.

Take care,
Jenny.

Thank you Jenny for your reply!

I agree with you about using social media for promotion.
I also agree with you about site speed.

Thank you again for your reply and recommendation.

Cheers!

Hello Everyone! I want your opinion on a niche idea. Please keep in mind that I am new here… so be gentle. ;)

First… a quick bit about me. I’m a

I would absolutely use this niche. So many people would be interested in your ideas and you have so much knowledge to share. I wouldn't worry about it being too broad. Go for it!

thank you so much for the feedback!

Hi, Jeff!

I think your niche idea is WONDERFUL! As an airline passenger, I would LOVE to have a website like this to reference and possibly purchase items that would make my trip more enjoyable!

Great idea and good luck! :)

Amy

Thank you for your feedback Amy!

I think that’s a great niche. Since you have much experience with the niche it will make it that much easier to write your content. And it sounds like something you are passionate about so once again make it easier to write since you enjoy the topic. There are many different topics wonton your niche that would make great posts!

thank you for the feedback Chrissy!

No problem!

Hi Jgnagy! First welcome aboard! We'll be flying at an altitude of 50,000 ft...

Kidding!

A broad a niche is just fine, you don't need to get too specific at the beginning, I did mine on Guitars and I though that, that was too broad, but as I do research there are so many branches, guitar and amp combos, specific guitars, music theory...the list goes on.

So general travel tips I think is awesome, if you find a micro-niche within that then you can always create another website around that.

Thanks!

Thanks for the feedback Adrian!

It sounds like the niche is 'advice and help for frequent fliers' and then you could cover all three and more of the list you gave. You need a name that will attract frequent fliers, and you can then cover everything that those people will need, insurance and so on... You have identified your audience thats the main thing. A specific audience is a niche. you have a great niche because its attached to your experience and what you love. Go for it.

Thank you Lucy for the feedback!
great ideas!

I've been around for a couple years. I think your ideas are GREAT. The best thing is that you won't have to spend much time doing research. You have the experience. Plus, it would be interesting to get the tips from someone with your perspective.

You could start out with the tips and tricks. Then you could expand the niche for tips for specific places. After all, traveling to enjoy the archeticture and art in Paris will have different considerations than going to Colorado for a ski vacation.

Hi Jeff. I am a "newbie" as well, only 2 weeks in the program and learning more everyday. Welcome aboard! I know my opinion may not carry as much weight as others that have been here longer but, I LOVE your idea. From what I have learned about niches, I think that would be perfect for you. Good luck and I look forward to seeing where this idea takes you.

Thank you for the input!

EVERYONES opinion matters to me! ;)

Great niche idea! You might even add some ideas for nervous fliers like me. Ideas other than having one or 4 glasses of wine before boarding. I already do that. And you are already an authority, so would be great reading. Go for it!

great idea! Thank you!

you're certainly not the only one who uses the wine method... :)
(i don't judge) whatever it takes. ;)

seriously though... that's a fantastic idea!

Hello there!

I actually think that's a great niche. And if you market it as the "take it from me, I fly for the airlines" you already establish yourself as an authority.

You can even give tips on things to do to help get that upgrade and so on.

I've been on and off for years trying to get my Private Pilot cert. It's either money or time but I never seem to have both at any given point. The closest I've come so far is I now have my FAA 107 ticket and, of course my student pilot ticket (but then that's not hard to get).

I say go for it. Travel tips coming from the pilot sounds like a great niche. Consider destination specific tips too if you have some (i.e. flying to Puerto Rico? Things you should know to make your trip the best..., etc.).

Thanks for the feedback and ideas!

Drones are another niche i want to explore also. Someday, I'd like to pick your brain about about that.

Any time man! Just reach out.

Hi Jeff,

I'll be gentle :)

It sounds like a really good niche to me ...

But, I have a question: how can you monetize something like that (in case that you want to)?

thanks for the feedback!

my first thought was promoting travel products at Amazon and other retail sites. Eventually, I'm hoping to publish my own travel guides in both digital and print format. At that point i'll promote those.

Godspeed Jeff!
