I would like to change the theme on my website. Is there a good way of doing this?
Changing your theme is easy, WordPress backoffice appearance click on themes add new theme or can you also upload a new theme using a zip file. Do Not Be Afraid To Build A Website The challenge may be to find a theme that has all of the features you are looking for. You can want to look at a potential theme choice demo first. your theme name + demo.
After installing you may have some minor things to change but your content will not change. Appearance -> customize The header and footer are using where the changes are most noticed.
There are plug-in for that, Janice just look in the menu at the different plug-ins! I think one that I hear alot about is Updraft, but there are several others too!
Jeff
I have installed the updraft plugin and did a backup, thanks. How do I back up site content?
On the site? I think that goes in there too, Janice! You might do a post asking that question to the community at large to make sure though!
Jeff
You have some great answers in this thread, to which I'll add this you can do anything in Wordpress that you want simply by clicking and ticking a box and it won't break
This training How To Edit a WordPress Post Gives an example of what I am saying.
Remember that when you change your theme, you will have to update any analytics code from Google and Pinterest as they don't automatically do this.
Well you are in the right place to do that and it's not really as complicated as it is made out
Go to your dashboard >> Appearance>> Themes. Then you can download and preview a lot of Themes.

Hey Janice,
You BET you can... but DO keep your present theme until you are absolutely certain about a new one. As long as you don't delete your present theme it will retain all of your settings.
Here's Rob's tutorial to show you how to: Changing Themes And, here's a video to help you find any other awesome tutorial that have been shared here on WA: Using Wealthy Affiliate's 2020 Search Textbox for Training Hope you find this helpful.

Should I be deleting my posts in site content after they have been published in wordpress?
Hi
You have four icons bottom of each site content doc.
G when google index your post, bucket if you organize your posts in buckets, a publish sign and the trash can.
We do tend to keep ours, after the post is published you may click on the green button, and it takes you directly to where your post is.
They can also be back ups for whatever need or use in the future.
So I would keep them.
I still use Site content Janice and I don't delete the posts that I write there. In fact, it has been counting my words since I started here and it amuses me to see I'm up to 300,000 words so far.
It won't cause you any problems, so leave them there.
Lily
Hi Janice, I don't use Site Content for much but, if I did, I'd certainly keep the copy there because it might be useful for a backup copy at some time.
:-)
Richard
I probably won't use it in future. Just developed the habit of writing my blogs in site content following the training, although I do like the idea of keeping a back-up copy.
Well Janice,
I know this was not what you are asking about,,, just in case it's useful ...
Because I do some work (research and outlines) on iPhone and editing on PC I use a (free) third party App for all my work, Whatever I do on iPhone shows up on PC and vice versa, When I've edited I copy the final version into my WP dashboard.
That way when I can't get to my PC but have time with iPhone I can still do some work. And after I've copied into WP I've always got a backup copy.
:-)
Richard
View Sitecontent as a way to publish your posts in an easy way. Wordpress can look intimidating at first. It's goal is to help you publish posts. So, after you publish, SiteContent can do nothing else.
SiteContent is a launch pad. And I agree with Joe that it doesn't matter to leave there all the posts you have launched.
Thank you for the explanation. I wanted to make sure that I hadn't caused any confusion or problems with seo by keeping them.

Hey Janice,
Went to your profile in hope of finding you Follow me on section had been completed, to include the website you are referring to here, so that I could learn which theme you are working with. "Follow Me On" Links Area If you are using GeneratePress, you will be amazed at how easy the developer has made his theme to tweak to our own preferences.
However, you can always Google search using the name of your theme, to tweak any theme, as many other users may have already asked the developer for the same changes you have.
Be aware that you MAY need to create a child theme if your changes are numerous. A child theme will assure your changes remain each time you update the theme itself. Introduction: Child Themes Hope you find this helpful.
Hi Trish. Thank you for taking the time out to answer my question and for the excellent response and for the resources. It is so good to get such informative answers. I am looking forward to taking my site to the next level.
When you customize the site, you can select color or image for the BODY.
Your content is contained and sits within the body.
When you color the background, you will need to whiten the contained area, so you can read the text...
Have fun!
Rudy
Yes, both can be changed within your theme. Lula gave you a good link to use for information.
