I have received a request through the contact form in my site for placing AD in my site against payment. The requesting site is engaged in web proxy, SSL security and protectin

I received a similar email. My instinct told me it was spam. I do not allow a third party to advertise on my website unless it's a reputable affiliate marketing company like amazon or WA

You are right. Even I have the same feeling. I have abandoned it. Thanks for replying.

It's most likely someone wanting to collect email addresses and sending out this email to tens of thousands of sites. People are likely to respond if there's a promise of easy cash.

I think you are right. I think, I should be careful. Thanks for replying.

While visiting webmaster tools, If I find total links 100 and indexed 80. What does this mean? what should I do?

it means that it has indexed some of your pages and posts but not all this might help you

Thanks a lot for your response. I shall go through it.

Where did you see that? Can you add a screenshot? Indexed means it appears somewhere in google search. We know what links are right? But, I'm not sure how they are related in this instance as far as webmaster is concerned. We'll get more help. Geoff. The friendly fisherman :)

Dear Geoff,
When you type out Google.com/webmasters/tools on the bar, you will reach webmasters page. There you will find the list of websites submitted by you. Click on the site in respect of which you want info. A new page will open which will show some data related to the site. The screen shot of one page is enclosed. From the data you find, you have to derive conclusions and act accordingly. Thanks for replying.

Hey there Inspiration. From the shot, it looks to me like you fetched 84 URL's, but only submitted 50 to index. This could've occured if some you fetched (or fetched and rendered) had errors to fix, or didn't appear. I typed some wrong and this happened. However, I'm not an expert. I did ask for community help on this also. Geoff.

Thanks for replying. let me know when you get some answer.

I am intending to self publish a book. I will be thankful if any body who has experience about Amazon Kindle book can share his experience.

Inspiration1

Swadesh, An inspiration, that you are to the whole WA community and anyone who reads and understands the meaning of your post. Awesome! I myself am working towards writing a book for starters. There's power when you can express yourself in word that will help people along there way in life. I'm here at WA to share some of my experiences, that have worked for me. Thank you, you are a blessing to the WA community.

Thanks for your good expressions. We exist in this world only through our expressions.Let us do it the best. My best wishes for your success.

I'm happy to hear about your book and the way you published it. I've been looking for this type of information forever. I too want that 100% passive income but I'm confused. I just finished my book and a publishing company continues to call because they want to publish it. But the way that you've taken is to first publish it on Amazon Kindle first, then have a publishing company publish it at another time as a paper back copy. I'm I right?
Thanks,
Marie

Hi,
you can do your whole publishing via Amazon if you want.
Won't cost you anything.
If you choose to use Kindle Direct Publishing from Amazon you can not sell you book anywhere else as long as it is part of that program, but you get 70% royalties.
You can publish the paper back copy via Amazon, too. For that you will get 30% royalties (if I am not mistaken).

At the moment I publish via Amazon only, because that's easy and for free.
In the future I might try other ways, too.
Moritz

Hello again.
Just giving a quick update on how my first book is doing at the moment.

While the free promotion was really great (more than 700 downloads) the sales took a while to come in.
But in the last 30 days I had 24 sales and around 1000 pages read from people who borrowed my book via "kindle unlimited".

Not sure how much I get from those who borrowed the book, but it will be a few dollars, too.

All in all that's not too bad I think.
Now that my book is written this is all 100% passive income.
I still will update my book to improve it and then will make it available as a print book, too.

I will definitely write more books in the future.

Moritz

Thanks Moritz for the update. Congratulations for your initial success. I shall ask you some questions at appropriate moment. Get ready with your next book. My best wishes.

I'm looking to publish through Amazon Kindle myself. Kindle books are selling more than print books, so it seems the way to go. Let me know what you find. Looking to start my own publishing empire (at least eventually. Still working on writing (and publishing) my first book under my Victory Infopublishing imprint.

Sounds like a fantastic project. Best of wishes with your book publishing.

Thanks Larry. Good wishes of my friends are my assets. My best wishes.

see Techhound has covered this wish you well in your ventures

Thanks for your good wishes. My best wishes for you too.

thank your for raising this question as it has given me answers and I feel it is something I could achieve

Thanks and best wishes. let us share with each other our experiences as we move forward.

I have several books published on Amazon. You will need to determine if you are going to participate in the Kindle Direct Program (KDP). This gives you some promotional options to work with as Sara (@sarita72) suggested. You have five days within the KDP enrollment period (90 days) where you can either offer your book for free for any five days (consecutive or not) or you can use the countdown pricing where you set the price lower and then within the period you specify (max 5 days) the price stars out at the low price and then incrementally increases to the regular price.

When you enroll in KDP your royalties will be 70% rather than 30% but you have to price your regular price between $2.99 and $9.99 and you have to be exclusive with Amazon within that KDP enrollment period.

You also should consider CreateSpace which is owned by Amazon. This is a Print on Demand (POD) service that you can publish your book to as well. This gives you the further option within KDP to use the Match option. This means that if someone buys your Kindle book, Amazon will offer your digital book as a package for a bundled price.

You may be wondering why you'd want to offer your book for free during the promotional period. First, you get credit for the sale which helps in your rankings (better rankings means better placement in Amazon's search engine) and you have more potential to get reviews to your book (make sure you ask for that within your book!).

It's important to realize that just publishing is no longer enough. You will need to keep actively promoting your book.

Hope this helps,
Jim

very in depth answer and useful to me so thank you

One other feature of KDP is that your book automatically becomes part of Kindle Unlimited (KU), meaning that if a member of KU borrows your book you will get a percentage of the KU pool - which is funded by the KU memberships. Before July 1, it was required that the KU member read 10% of your book to get credit. People were sort of gaming the system by flooding Amazon Kindle with short books. It's easier for people to read 10% of a 20 page book then it is to read 10% of a 200 page book. So as of July 1, Amazon is paying KU authors based on page count (they normalized the page count based on an algorithm). So if you have a big book, you actually have the potential to get paid more.

Of course, everything depends on the number of books and the number of members paying into the KU program as to how much authors will make. If over time, they are not making enough, they could opt out of the program (which they can do while still remaining as part of KDP).

book marked all of this for future reference and not too distant either thanks again

Thanks Jim for your detailed reply. I am ready with my book and I was wondering what is the best mode for publishing.
I understand that it is not a bad idea to promote the book for 5 days free through KDP. It will certainly be advantageous. My only conflict is about the paperback edition apart from the kindle book. Will it be costly if I do it through createspace? Alternatively should I wait for some time before I go for paperback edition along with kindle book.
I will be happy if you can give some advice on this. Also can you suggest about how to go for promoting the book by other means?
Inspiration 1

Hey Swadesh,
It doesn't cost anything to publish on CreateSpace. Because it's Print on Demand, they charge the customer the printing cost. The only time it would cost you is if you wanted a print copy of your own book. It's been a while but I think you get a discount on it because you're the author but check into that to be sure.
But there is no need to buy a print copy of your book when you get started unless that is going to be part of your promotional strategy. So it doesn't have to cost you anything at all to publish on both Kindle and CreateSpace.
Best Regards,
Jim

Hi Jim, You're obviously experienced in this area and I just wondered if you'd heard of Smashwords. A client of mine has just published her first ebook using them and rated them highly. She needed a lot of support and got it, for free too. She does have a question though and I said I try and find the answer!

Hey Kathy, I haven't used them directly. I have some books that hybrid publishers I use have distributed to them. I have heard some good things about it but can't speak to it from experience.

If you decide to publish anywhere other than KDP, you won't be able to utilize KDP. However, you can still publish to Amazon and other places as long as you don't enroll in KDP. Of course, this means less of a commission rate on Amazon.
Best Regards,
Jim

Thanks Jim. I know she has a Kindle version so that must just be through Amazon.

She can still use Smashwords if the Kindle version is not enrolled in KDP.

Ok, thanks. :)

Excellent response. I learned something useful here!

Hey,
I have almost finished my first kindle ebook.
It is written, but I still have to check it again for mistakes, get a cover and format it to kindle format.

First I would read through this information:
https://kdp.amazon.com/help (click on "how to publish")

Is there anything specific you would like to know?
Do you know the topic already?
How long will the book be?

Cheers
Moritz

Thanks Moritz for your reply. i am already finished with my book. Only considering about adding the images into it. It's about 250 page book.
Inspiration1

I think it's quite easy to do it. You have 5 days (in a row or not) to offer your ebook, and than it's charged for the price you settle in the beginning with them. The only difficulty I had was with the cover, because I couldn't figure out how to do it differently. The rest it's quite easy and intuitive. You need to have your book written in word, and than it's just to import the file.

Nice to get your reply Sarita after some gap. So, how did you manage your cover page for the book. i would definitely like to share your experiences. Let me know if there is any problem with formatting. Thanks and best wishes.

I just recently published a book through Amazon self publish and it was a learning experience which I would be more than happy to share with you. I also have an excellent ebook that shows you how to maximize your marketing and sales of your book when you publish it which I will also give you for free. I will PM you with the information and ebook

Welcome ClydeB. Thanks for your reply. Please send me the information. i will be obliged.
